Reviewer's comments
"This level drastically lacks in gameplay, but it sort of makes up for it in the pleasing looks (although quite plain in the huge rooms). A few sprint jumps (admittedly a nice addition but had it not been for the walkthrough I would not have known the combination), some climbing and some switches and it ended after 11 minutes. That's about all it adds up to, so it's really more of a demo." - Ryan (26-Oct-2017)
"This is a very nice little level in TR1 fashion with mainly Peru textures, which by now seem to have become my favorites. The game play is simple and there are no puzzles or real enemies except for 1 or 2 bats. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, sound and lighting, although there were a couple of spots that were rather dark. I had no idea what "sprint jump" is, since I have never used this before and therefore I was stuck for a while until I finally read the walkthrough (thanks to Harry Laudie). I wish that would have been explained in the Readme. There is definitely a very talented builder at work here. I just wish it had been longer, because I did enjoy playing this one a lot. It would be nice to see more from this builder." - Blue43 (25-May-2010)
"A short level in the Peru TR1 fashion, with some new objects and features. There is a few jumps to do with a new move , a bit of climbing and swimming , and a bunch of old lions to shoot with a few bats. And that's it. The level is competently built and has an atmospheric touch. Anyway a good first try with the Editor." - eRIC (04-Apr-2009)
"This is a short TR1 styled adventure. Unfortunately gameplay here is restricted to a few jumps to collect keys or find levers, and some of these are sprint extended jumps, one move that takes a few tries to master. I loved the use of audio tracks and thought the grand finale was a nice touch. 10 minutes. 04/08" - Treeble (06-Apr-2008)
"This is a short, simple level that takes from 5-10 minutes to complete. The texturing and lighting is decent, the odd few custom objects were good and the little cutscene at the start was quite nice, but the gameplay is pretty boring nontheless. Just run around, do some sprint jumps and pick up a key in order to progress...it's all pretty basic stuff. Good enough to hold your attention for it's short lifespan, but not something that will probably be replayed much." - Spike (02-Jul-2007)
"This first level from this new author promise good things in the future, but it's too much short to evaluate. There are not puzzles, only based in Lara's movements (climb, swim, jumps,...), no weapons, no ammo, no medipacks, very few pickups, where are the flares for the many dark areas? few enemies too, only some bats and some lions, I didn't find secrets. Though architecture is simply, there's a good atmosphere and textures aren't bad, but a bit dark for my taste. Improving geometry and puzzles this author could build good levels in the future." - Jose (11-Apr-2007)
"It's a short level, hardly fifteen minutes long, with lions and bats to shoot. There is some climbing involved in a TR kind of style and a problem with one of the areas at some point. If you don't have the key to open a door and climb the block then if you try to go back unfortunately Lara can't climb down, she ends up back onto the block. The spint+jump action is great. I just love it and I wonder why more builders do not use it. Anyway it's more like a demo thus the low rating." - Kristina (19-Mar-2007)
"A short interesting endeavor of a new author in the spirit of the Peru adventures from the original Tomb Raider. There's not really a whole lot to say about it besides that. The objects used in the level are nice and fitting (well one could argue how fitting vegetation is underground, but let's not go there), the few rooms that are there are nicely done as is the cutscene before the actual level and the little explosion at the end - and since I didn't know you can use the sprinting jump in the level the parts where I had to eluded me for quite a while (well, till I found out, that is). As said the looks are decent - though I didn't like that the waterfall seemed to come out of nowhere when you climbed into its cave of origins. Nice short level, hopefully the author will improve on the duration in his next levels though." - eTux (11-Mar-2007)
"Although not advertised as such, this is essentially a demo level. It's very short and pretty much devoid of any real gameplay other than a bit of exploring and shooting a bat or two and an entire pride of lions. I'm all for encouraging new builders, but it's not advisable to rush out a level before it's really ready. OK, now for the positives. The builder has obviously mastered the basics of the level editor pretty well - the look, feel and sound are all good (a bit dark in spots perhaps) so if this is intended as a means of 'testing the waters' then I would say, yes JorJor, you obviously have much potential so please carry on and work on a full level." - Jay (08-Mar-2007)
"A very short debut level in TR1 style that is worth a quick look and the author has a lot of potantial, but it just does not come out here. The little cutscene at the start is technically impressive, but also short and not particularly relevant, so I wished the author had instead invested the time into enhancing the level with some more decent and extensive gameplay, as that is missing entirely. Only a few long sprint jumps to do and you are out of here in less than 10 minutes. I liked most the very good choice of objects and audio and the intro flyby of the huge room is solidly done. The selection of textures is also good but they have been applied to fairly large, square rooms in a bit of rush. It seems the author was just a little too impatient and wanted to get this demo out for some feedback. Well, ok, why not? So that's done now, time to work on a proper full adventure now - looking forward to it." - MichaelP (17-Feb-2007)
"I was about to throw this level into the bin and then I remembered that there were some reviews and in there I could read about the"sprint" jump (jump back about 3 times, run/sprint forwards and jump). It is in the readme as well but under credits but how would I know what THAT means. Also I'm not really fond of this sort of jump. So that is a big NO in my book. The Mac players can play this well as I just installed it the old fashioned way to see if that worked without the included TR4 file. So Jordan proves he can use the LE, but building alone won't do the trick as this level lacks major gameplay. There is eye candy, I'll give you that, but all in all there I potential here. Also do pay attention to some parts while texturing, as some parts were rather sloppy done. I am a sucker for the caves and I loved the serene music that played throughout of the time." - Gerty (16-Feb-2007)
"Yes, this is a very short level but it shows real promise and I am looking forward to a full game by this builder. There is a nice, but short, cut scene at the beginning. The rooms are well textured and the camera angle while performing the sprint jump is a nice touch. As is the 3-D ladder, even though Lara did climb right 'through' it. It would have benefited from a few more enemies and/or puzzles. If you are looking for a quick, easy raid this level is for you." - Kitkat (15-Feb-2007)
"This little level has a name with a nice ring to it, but it bears a lot of the trademarks of a typical demo and I don't know about the others here, but I have seen enough of those over the past year. It's a level that can easily be played in 10 minutes or less and I was only stumped at one occasion...that was before I realised that Lara could sprint-jump. The layout is actually quite nice and shows that this is a builder who has learnt the basics of how to create rooms. I particularly liked the room with the greenish lighting and the small pool. Unfortunately there are rooms that are too large and with too little in them and all in all there's too little to do around here. Some of the areas are also too dark for my liking and we're not provided with any additional flares. I couldn't find any secrets and it would be nice to see some more enemies(having them scattered out a bit is also an idea, rather than having all the enemies gathered in one room and leave the rest of them empty). At times the lighting, although nice and greenish, seems a bit flat and these areas aren't exactly oozing with atmosphere. The 3D ladders are rather nice, but unfortunately Lara can climb through them, something which disturbs the impression a bit. The music(taken from TR:Legend) is generally ok, but a bit too repetetive in the long run. The textures are basically taken from TR1 and look pretty nice. No real puzzles and few items to pick up(some which you didn't even need). All in all a promising effort, but it still takes more to make a complete and decent level." - Selene (15-Feb-2007)
"The level was way too short. I finished it in 8:42 without getting stuck once. The rooms were all very square and not very decorated. There weren't very many enemies either. The lighting was greenish.I had fun using the sprint jump and Lara looks good." - Jaws Victim (14-Feb-2007)
"I saw a screenshot of this level in the Guess the Screenshot Game I thought it looked pretty good so I tried it. IT was not so, Lighting and Camers were used well but there were no puzzles, very few enemies, and it was way too short. I did like the giant room." - tomb gamer (14-Feb-2007)
"Despite being a stand-alone level, this bears all the hallmarks of a Demo:scant gameplay, few enemies, easy challenges and extremely short duration. That being said,it looks rather pleasing with a pleasant use of objects and textures, solid construction, and even an extremely short cut-scene at the beginning. The 'very big jump' is always a welcome addition and is great fun to perform, but however competently this has been put together it doesn't alter the fact that this barely provides you with 10 minutes of playing time and(Demo or no)that simply isn't enough!" - Orbit Dream (13-Feb-2007)
