Reviewer's comments

"This is a rather novel concept for a custom level (not really a level in this case, more like a race) - snowboard your way to the finish line, collecting as many balloons along the way as you can. I found round about 32, although I probably missed a few along the routes I never tried. It's executed well, although inevitably over too soon unless you replay the various routes. Hats off to the builder, though." - Ryan (20-Aug-2017)

"Hmm...something different, could've been done better but it gains a lot of points for the unique idea. It's not textured perfectly and some animations may need some work but it still works how it should and it's very fun. My result from the first try wasn't very good so I may give it another go. Great idea from this builder!" - misho98 (06-Dec-2014)

"The gameplay was changed with a snowboard and I liked it, especially collecting the balloons. It's a kind of a minigame. The atmosphere is there, the outfit and the animations are fun and the textures are applied. No secrets but many balloons to collect. (I caught 87)" - Quentin (26-Mar-2014)

"Objects are unique: swinging and running penguins, sad, square-eyed snowmen, igloos, icicles, giant cookies... so many things made of so few polygons that everything looks like ripped directly from some kind of a snowy anime cartoon. You can choose four different endings. The game seems to be not betatested enough - there is one invisible wall You will surely hit at least one time. Or two, if the game entertains You enough for You to forget about the obstacle during the second slide. I found jumping over the snowmen nearly impossible - one can do this only from very close to them, by performing a standing jump, what makes the game less flowing. But the most disappointing thing is the whole ride is silent. I really expected lots of sound fireworks in a game like this. Also, even if there are some boulders or flames, or falling icicles, we can't die. Maybe it's good, because we can't save as well - but it ruins the thrill. Puzzles? Well... I think collecting balloons doesn't require much thinking, but it's still a kind of fun, resembling collecting fishes some players can remember from Tux Racer. SUMMARY: Bravo for anim customization and well-created objects. However, lack of adrenaline shot (strongly desired in a game so fast like this one) makes this level suitable for a single launch only... even if there is (and probably won't be) any other like this one." - DJ Full (20-Feb-2011)

"A real nice and innovative adventure. The snowboard moves were really excellent. Sound was good too as well as some textures. Surely a highlight among other levels, really recommended." - manarch2 (28-Oct-2010)

"I say such a thing rather seldom, but here I must simply say it: I LOVE THIS LEVEL!!!! The level construction in itself is quite difficult enough, how much heavier must it have been to build this level? I find the idea and the conversion absolutely brilliant. It makes a wild fun, to thundering down the circuit and try to go faster and faster. I hope, that Tifa build sometime once more such a thing like this." - Scottie (20-Apr-2009)

"This isn't really up there with the SSX series but if you like snowboarding games it's still a lot of fun and filled with humour. Gameplay is predictably fast and furious and worth re-playing over and over in order to aquire as many different coloured balloons as possible;and the creativity behind it is definately worth a big round of applause. If you feel like a break from Lara but don't want to fork out money on another game, this should suit you perfectly." - Orbit Dream (13-Jul-2008)

"An original and fun level based on another game. A spiky haired blond fellow snowboards along a fairly long course. You can play this as many times as you like, choose different routes, and keep beating your previous time. It's quite safe, confined inside snow walls as we steer the snowboard as quickly or as leisurely as we please while trying to hit lots of balloons. The obstacles (snowballs, trees, snowmen) are no threat, which is great for the kiddies to play. Maybe in times to come this scenario will be included in a longer level, with much more dangerous obstacles to dodge along the way. Or perhaps it might be part of a timed run or race for life! Lots of possibilities there. I'm not sure how this would fit into the gameplay department though... TR gameplay that is. But as it's such an original level, and as it's Christmas, and as it's playable on the mac, I'm in a very generous mood." - CC (12-May-2008)

"I am not into racing at all, so I have never done a race level but as this is also a part of the advent levels adventure I gave it a go. If I can fly like an owl I, for sure can try to snowboard. My end time is horrible but I did all the four different routes." - Gerty (09-Mar-2008)

"As one can imagine this is tricky to review but not impossible. It has nothing else but snow, balloons (red, green, blue) and obstacles like trees, snow balls etc. The purpose here is to have fun with this one and try to make it through with all balloons in less time. I did it in a bit over than two and a half minutes with twenty five balloons but I havenít tried a second time since I am not very fond of such challenges. Itís a nice idea but not very Christmassy." - Kristina (26-Jan-2008)

"Well, this is a very fun and original idea, at least in context of TR games, and thus also a bit hard to rate. I enjoy snowboarding games a great deal, and it's obvious this doesn't really come close to them, but as far as adaptions to the TR engine go, the 4 routes (or main route, that eventually diverges into these 4 routes) here are a pretty interesting effort. While TR race levels generally are not known for any mind blowing graphics - I thought this felt a bit rushed and bland even for a race level (though I understand the logic for not putting a whole lot of effort into the looks), and the lack of any lighting took away from the overall atmosphere, so I didn't enjoy that aspect pretty much, but despite the relatively low ratings - this is not a level that can be rated by conventional means, thus shouldn't really hold you back from trying it out yourself, as it's great fun all the way through!" - eTux (15-Jan-2008)

"I don't know how to qualify this game 'cause it only get interest if you participate in a competition against another players. Level is very well builded, with an original skin and some new objects and features, but there is not a level to play solo. You descend using a snowboard trying to take all the balloons you can and avoiding some obstacles in your way. Nice, but only to play accompanied." - Josť (01-Jan-2008)

"I remember the original FF7 minigame quite well, and as far as I can remember this is a pretty faithful 'remake'. Effectively this level involves two things, making your character go in a straight line while occasionally turning and jumping. While in a normal level this would be particularly bad gameplay indeed, in this case I found it to actually be very enjoyable. This was likely due to the increased sense of speed you get while moving, and it certainly made it fun enough for me to replay it a further 3 times in order to follow all of the paths down the slope. The objects were great, and playing as a pretty well-made Cloud while dodging those cute moogles and trees was a refreshing experience. Textures were quite low quality, but at least this was reminiscent of the original. The only thing that felt odd about the level was the way that it's possible to turn around and simply run back up the slope again if you missed a balloon or the like, which kind of defeats the point of getting them all in one go. This is a nice little deviation from traditional TR gameplay, and while it may not be for everyone, there will always be another who enjoys it." - Spike (29-Dec-2007)

"A novelty. I clocked in at 02:38:70 with 23 Balloons. I wonder if the rolling balls could actually kill Cloud, since they all certainly hindered me, but didn't even cause a scratch. Whether I got lucky, or not, I don't know. Happy holidays! 5 minutes. 12/07" - Treeble (23-Dec-2007)

"I hesitated a bit before reviewing this level that is both not Tomb Raider and not a Christmas level because I can review it ok but I find it somewhat hard to rate. But so be it... Based on some supposedly Japanese game I never heard of, this is a snowboard run along a snowy trail, catching ballons on the way and competing for the best time: my best, probably not as good as that, was about 2 minutes and 29 seconds. Unfortunately, I was unable to capture the last screen with the results because it always showed black. Apart from that, it's good clean fun and I recommend it." - Jorge22 (22-Dec-2007)

"This is FUN and could possibly be quite addictive. Itís short and simple Ė snowboard various routes and try to capture as many balloons as you possibly can. Iíve not managed a really respectable score yet, but of course the beauty of this little level is that you can keep on playing it. You really should try it Ė and try it Ė and then try it some more." - Jay (22-Dec-2007)

"A bit surprising that I seem to be the first person who dares to review this. Well, maybe because it is a bit tricky to score because of its uniqueness and originality. But I must say, while I did not care all that much for Tifa's racing level from the 2004 calendar, this truly fun little snowboarding race is absolutely charming and I thought very well executed. Sure, it's all donew quite soon as you get four different routes to follow to four different endings of the slope and each individually takes about 2-3 minutes to go through without any real practice, but if you are so inclined, you can then happily keep trying to collect more baloons and or be faster with more practice, so up to you how much fun you want to have with this little gem of a level in the end. I certainly enjoyed it quite a bit!" - MichaelP (21-Dec-2007)

"This race circuit with a snowboard is quite fun, lots more than a classic race with a usual vehicle. This is quite inventive , and the technical achievement really impressed me. The moves (slide, change of trajectory, jump) of a real snowboarder are realistic and fluent ; despite my lack of practice in my first tries, it was not even possible to get stuck in the decor or in some obstacles that come in your way in the last and lowest parts of the course. There is also custom objects here and there for our amusement. All this is well done. Put on your sun glasses and give a try (or many tries), this is quite unique in the the trle world." - eRIC (21-Dec-2007)
