Reviewer's comments
"A short yet fun adventure. It seems funny that the Iris was kept in a cupboard in a storeroom that only requiring a Low-level Access Card. Anyway, a good alternative adventure for a VCI level." - Charles Kane (07-Feb-2021)
"Fairly simple Tomb Raider 5 level by today's standards but at the time of release (2001) it was one of only a few and this one worked with no glitches. It is short, took me only five and a half minutes but for what it is, it was engaging enough and I thought the look was truly TR5." - Torry (13-Jan-2020)
"A small TR5 level. There are a few guards to kill, some things to pick up, a set of lasers to avoid, some ladders to climb and find the iris. It's short and easy. A level for beginners." - alan (23-Nov-2018)
"I remember playing this 3 years ago, it was the first TR5- custom level I've played. Back then, I already wondered and laughed about enemies running against walls but I still do today though. I guess it's an error of the unofficial level editor... This short but quite entertaining, nostalgic, VCI level consists of fighting some normal and robot-kind of enemies from the VCI-levels, while searching for the Iris artifact. Nice idea, but a longer version would've been good." - Nuri (09-May-2018)
"Only a try from the "TR6" adventure author to create a short TR5 level. We can see a good care with the texturization here, but nothing really interesting except deal with the old TR5 enemies. Even you can finish the level without the artifact you had come to look for. Unremarkable." - Jose (31-Dec-2017)
"Less than ten minutes of a VCI style level. What makes it interesting is the fact that it's a TR5 and we see very few of those. Aside from that, it's a bit of exploring, being shot at, avoiding one laser trap and making off with the Iris." - Jay (11-Sep-2016)
"Not much to do here as you simply shoot a couple of armoured soldiers, climb a couple of ladders, open a couple of doors and find the Iris, which I did after exactly 9 minutes." - Ryan (27-Jul-2016)
"A rather short level but don't get fooled. Nice enemies you can kill but it takes precise shooting. Nasty laser trap you have to avoid, took me quite some tries to do so though. There are a few pick-ups and when you have the Iris, the level ends. Took me about 8 minutes to get there." - Gerty (03-Jan-2016)
"This test level uses VCI level assets this time, showing off a lot of the enemies and items that you will encounter during a regular playthrough of the actual VCI levels in the main game, including common security guards, mechanized soldiers, an innocent worker that freaks out when your weapon is drawn(but whom you cannot kill), a laser trap and a few shelves to scavenge for items. Besides that, texturing is still what you've come to expect from TR5 test levels in terms of quality, gameplay lacks any real form of challenge, lighting and atmosphere fall pretty flat and in the end, doesn't offer a whole lot to keep the average player engaged for too long. So, approach with caution, if you're still curious in giving this one a shot." - Ceamonks890 (11-Jul-2014)
"This is just a very short test or demo level built on the TR5 engine. There is not much to do than climb a couple ladders, go through crawlspaces, search some shelves and dodge a laser. A few guards and heavy armored guys showed up, but they were slow and clumsy and could be elegantly eliminated with a single head shot using right click and zoom. The harmless worker was be left unharmed. Texturing and atmosphere was ok and typical VCI style, while the lighting was rather bright and flat. The level can be finished in less than 10 minutes, so if you like the TR5 look and feel and have little time, this might be one to try." - Blue43 (24-Nov-2011)
"12 minutes of a VCI-style level, shooting few enemies, finding two secrets. Textures are not sloppy, but level isn't interesting." - manarch2 (05-Dec-2010)
"Unfortunately it is a very short level. It has totally TR5 VCI level feeling, presenting we can make great TR5 levels with these stuffs. We have to kill some baddies with the HK Gun, and after we pick up the Iris on the end of the level. I've found 2 secrets on the level. Short, but worth it to play it." - Obig (25-May-2010)
"Another of the early TR5 custom offerings and not putting all of its engine potential to use. What you get here is a short VCI-ish raid after the Iris, the whole adventure spans only a handful of different rooms and some baddies are scattered about, but there really isn't much to do here. 5 minutes, 2 secrets. 10/09" - Treeble (30-Mar-2010)
"A few rooms look nice--apparently this was intended as a test of TR5--though a ladder has squashed textures. Lara fights a couple mechanized soldiers who fire energy bolts, and a couple regular guards. She jumps a laser. One scientist says, "Don't shoot!" and cowers in a crouch. Lara searches several shelves to find secrets, medipacks, and the Iris. That is the entire level, fully described. If you don't mind brevity, there is nothing irritating here." - dmdibl (26-Dec-2009)
"A well made short demo in a little base, there is only two guards to shoot , one robot to outsmart , a laser to endure , and I like the scientist saying"don't shoot". [5 minutes]" - eRIC (22-Nov-2009)
"As already mentioned in the readme file this game was created with an intention of discovering and showcasing what the TRC engine is capable of. It was fun to see the familiar VCI baddies back in business, There is not much gameplay involved as the level is setup in around 10-15 rooms, your job is to pin the baddies down with H&K and retrieve the Iris, which has never been this easy :D. Took me around 7 mins to wind this one up." - Anurag (07-Nov-2009)
"One of the quicker finds of the Iris for Lara at about 5 minutes duration, but worth a look for the cool railgun enemy alone. There is a tricky jump over a laser and 2 easy secret roses to pickup along the way and that's about it." - MichaelP (09-Oct-2009)
"This level leads you to a very small adventure. You have to go through a very small part of a base. Found two secrets, a few pickups, and the Iris. Well, there's an easier way too to finish this level. Simply press alt+right at the begining of the level(you should press it while the game is loading too), and you've triggered the final door! That's the biggest mistake in this level imo, and that's why the gameplay is only 2 points for me." - rtrger (08-Oct-2009)
"This VCI base level is set up a in such a way that you will arrive back at the start again in the end, but knowing a little engine bug you can effectively reach a crucial trigger already from the beginning and thus end the level in less than a minute. But with taking around 10 minutes to finish the intended way too, this stood out only as a neat little quirk rather than a serious design flaw. And while its 10 minutes can't pride in offering you that much to sink your teeth into, with the main challenges being a laser trap and confronting 2 guards and 2 laser-gun wielding guards (and optionally a harmless scientist), it's fun while it lasts. If your sniping skills are rusty, the enemies might present a challenge at first, but otherwise this level is fairly harmless. The looks are acceptable, but with rather simple geometry and lightworks won't inspire much awe. The 2 secrets were easy to find as well." - eTux (01-Sep-2009)
"As far as gameplay is concerned, you jump over a laser, shoot a couple of guards and climb a very long ladder. However,it's worth playing this little excursion just to see (and kill)the menacing amor-encased laser-wielding baddie and the cowardly chap who pleads with you not to shoot him before cowering on the ground;these are worth the download alone! As for the rest,it's a rather blandly textured and lit environment which will take you no more than 10 minutes to complete." - Orbit Dream (01-Sep-2009)
