Reviewer's comments
"A two room test level that experiments with using wormholes by spawning a structure behind the player as they enter the second room. There isn't much else to it. Recommended for curious builders only." - LuxQSD (26-May-2022)
"Call me crazy for that mark at the gameplay but the fun aspect is all there. Years ago DJ set a record of 14 seconds to complete this little custom, now I was able to find a way to finish this in 12-13 seconds, showing proof to DJ_Full himself which answered with a nice and well "aaahahah good :)))", so finding a new strat to take lesser time becomes even more exciting than before and fills up entirely 5 points for the gameplay. Everywhting else? No objects aside from two that are still unrelated to the style, bare atmosphere given by the texturing and a pat on the back for some interesting texturing on the flipped raising block, that is all. Recommended if you want a challenge and take less than 12 seconds, otherwisely? Not at all. Wolfy Regards." - Wolf7 (05-Jul-2021)
"This may be the shortest level to end with an actual finish trigger, but several reviewers have already pointed this out. It raises blocks in a non-technical sense, namely by means of a flipmap rather than Raising Blocks, but this issue has already been addressed by Treeble. As in RGBold’s Trapdoor, the number of rooms is in the low single digits, yet the builder still manages to create wafer-thin walls between them; but this has already been mentioned by DJ Full. As yet nobody has related this to Race, Class and Gender, but come on.
I hate it when a level is so nondescript that it only allows for repeating what others have already said. I hate it when I can’t even come up with a quirky one-liner. It calls this whole reviewing business into question. However, I’m going to make a tactical retreat to the position that it’s not an actual custom level but a test level, and the day is saved. I’m posting this review merely because I want to get the entirety of this builder’s œuvre out of the way, and I’m probably going to regret having done so as soon as l’esprit de l’escalier taps gently on my shoulder." - Mulf (06-Apr-2021)
"Interesting concept on making Alternate Rooms, but unfortunately it just stops there. No enemies, no secrets. You don't even need a minute to finish it." - Charles Kane (03-Apr-2021)
"Sorry but I simply do not see the point of something like this. 1 minute to raise a pyramid structure in an adjoining room and that is it." - Torry (06-Oct-2019)
"Not really raising blocks but I think only a flipmap. Pull a switch to open a door and go to an empty room, pull another switch to trigger the flipmap and return to the first room to see a small building. Unremarkable." - Jose (24-Apr-2019)
"Not much to say, or like the other reviewers, 2 switches, flipmap and it's the end." - Drakan (27-Nov-2018)
"For a while, this test level title had me wondering if the author had found a way to use TR4 raising blocks with the TR2 engine, but alas turns out it's a mere flipmap. 5 minutes. 05/17" - Treeble (28-May-2017)
"Simply a test level for the builder to test the blocks and a couple of switches. Rooms were repetitively textured. Not really worth a playthrough." - Ryan (19-May-2016)
"I guess this is a test level, because there were just two big rooms(typical for test levels) and a flipmap." - Nuri (13-Oct-2015)
"Test level? I assume. Nice touch on changing the rooms once you leave them. Like...magic. But a test level is a test level. Nothing on it. Two levers and done. First time playing it took me 1 minute. Tried speedrun 15s. I think i can do better!" - Zhyttya (02-Sep-2015)
"Took longer to extract and open than pass the "game".. The.. humm.. the two "rooms".. ye.. rooms! Well, at least the lighting wasn't bad!" - Leeth (02-Sep-2015)
"Another day, another pointless test level. Only this one revolves around flipmaps between two rooms by pulling a lever to open the door and access that other room. And it only lasts at an average time of 19 seconds, with the traditional repetitive texturing and flat atmosphere to boot. Best avoided." - Ceamonks890 (25-Jul-2014)
"I may be a very wordy reviewer, but even I can't say much about this one. Shows you nicely how flipmaps work - pity the interesting structure was not used for anything else than presenting a finish trigger." - eTux (02-Oct-2011)
"Searching through my stash of downloaded levels, I stumbled across this one. It got 1 point for gameplay because of the flipmap, and 1 point for texturing because it was textured (albeit badly). Not recommended." - Cory (17-Apr-2011)
"Crikey, this may just be the shortest level I've ever played. On the plus side, you're definitely not likely to require the stuck threads." - Jay (19-Nov-2010)
"Could you, hand on heart, describe pulling a lever and therefore triggering a simple blocky structure into existence as deserving of a point for gameplay? No,I thought not. This is the sort of 'level' (and there are many out there) that are useful only in providing the facility for someone like me to write a pointless review. So,worthwhile then." - Orbit Dream (27-Oct-2010)
"I was so surprised to hear the sound of level ending it made me feel better. Texturing is not so bad, but the atmosphere is poor and there is one wafer thin wall. Even if I don't mind all these things, as the level isn't about the graphics at all, I can't ignore them when rating. So there are only 2 points for texturing and 1 for lighting. SUMMARY: I did the speedrun and I completed this game in 14 seconds. This makes "Raising Blocks" the shortest custom (with a finish trigger) I've ever played. Can you complete it faster?" - DJ Full (05-Oct-2010)
"Bad textures, no gameplay except two levers, no difficulty. I can't say anything good here." - manarch2 (12-Jul-2010)
"Two switches, and a flipping room. This is the level." - Obig (10-May-2010)
"2 rooms and a flipmap, these equal to this very short adventure." - rtrger (09-May-2010)
"Flip two levers and that is it. Just a couple of huge empty rooms, paper-thin walls and one flipmap." - Gerty (09-May-2010)
"My fastest time ever to play a level with finish trigger. Lara throws a switch to go in and out of a room and a simple structure appears." - dmdibl (06-May-2010)
"A simple flipmap and a test level that will take less than 20 seconds to complete - if you take your time..." - MichaelP (01-Feb-2010)
