Reviewer's comments
"A short raid through an Egypt style level. Has a 'hub' area and a few interesting design choices. This is, in my opinion, the author's best work. Not to say that this level excels in any aspect whatsoever, but it shows greatest potential that the author's capable of good design and gameplay. Unfortunately the texturing is pretty bad and drab in some places and the lack of camera showing doors that switches open artificially extends the play time. The level will keep you entertained at the very least, but that's pretty much it." - LuxQSD (15-Mar-2022)
"Short Egyptian level with plenty of panthers to shoot and blocks to move around. Some of the blocks served no purpose, not sure what that was about. Took me about 20 minutes due to fighting with keyboard controls! Unless you're going for level completion, you can skip this one without fear of missing out on anything." - Chel (09-Nov-2018)
"A 20 minute sprint through a TR1 Egypt environment. There's quite a few panthers to kill, but luckily more than enough ammo for them not to be too much trouble. There's a bit of lever pushing, swimming and climbing and a bit of retracing of steps and that's pretty much it. I wouldn't really recommend it unless you're a diehard TR1 fan, or just an avid completist." - Ryan (03-Aug-2018)
"Personally, I enjoyed a short-Egyptian level theme with TR1 game system which brought us memories from the past. The gameplay was really fun, although it had some pushblocks which slowed down the expedition. Enemies were good, and they were properly placed. Atmosphere was average, and some doors had no opening sound, which made a player a bit confused that which switch opens which door? The use of textures were good, and made the atmosphere more fun! Recommended level." - Mehrbod (03-Aug-2018)
"Another 20 minute romp through a familiar TR1 theme. Nothing over exciting about this. Kill some panthers and crocs, move a few blocks and hit some switches graphics are terrible but again, these early levels are what inspired our countless TR builders and in my opinion, without these early guys paving the way who knows what, if anything, we would have now." - Torry (08-Apr-2018)
"An entertaining short Egyptian-custom level. I always love levels with the Egypt theme and this one is no exception. It was entertaining for me but honestly, it only consists of pushing levers, blocks and killing panthers and crocodiles. If you haven't enough of that kind of gameplay, then try this one out! I noticed that there are some movable blocks, being useless. At least I couldn't find any use for them." - Nuri (24-Feb-2018)
"There are some defects whith the doors with the invisible block in front, but even so the level is playable. The author should place some cameras to see what happens when pulling a lever, but retracing your steps to the black closed doors there is no much problem. Only pull some switches to open some doors and kill some animals with enough ammo for the uzis (the shotgun appears too late); this is the history of this short level. Near the exit there is a movable block I never knew what it was for. Nothing interesting here." - Jose (05-Nov-2017)
"As you can probably gather from the title, this is an Egyptian-themed level made in the TR1 engine. The textures are bright, the pickups are generous and the gameplay is unchallenging. Recommended only if you're a huge fan of TR1." - Ejecta (14-Aug-2017)
"A boxy level with egypt textures, enemies to kill like panthers and crocodiles. Levers to pull and more panther killing. In a corridor-like maze the level ended. Not recommended." - alan (30-Apr-2017)
"An average level from year 2000. I used 13 min and 59 sec to pass this level. I liked graphics and brightness. Enemies are OK, mut there could be more diverse on enemies. This could be a good start for story." - vienna (06-Mar-2017)
"Lots of jumping, up and down again, shooting some animals and pushing some levers. Oh and I almost forgot, pushing some blocks. At least it was pretty bright." - Gerty (08-Sep-2016)
"A bit longer duration and more complexity from this builder but the whole interaction are switches and pushables. The level consists just of five rooms which make architectural sense but still manage to include an unintended shortcut on their small space, and some pushblocks are just unexplainable to me. Enemies are a nice touch and we get three different weapons to deal with them, however this is another game where you're almost sure to give up on killing a crocodile in the pool. Apart from pickups, the place doesn't contain any furniture and I would again wish for a more solid conclusion." - DJ Full (01-Feb-2016)
"Quite an improvement over the author's previous offering, but gameplay is hindered by unnecessarily annoying platforming (namely, low ceilings) as you search high and low for levers to open doors to proceed. The areas are generally small and boxy, but tedious to navigate so you may find yourself hoping the finish trigger is behind the next door at times... 15 minutes. 12/15" - Treeble (30-Dec-2015)
"Another boring release that retains the same exact problems as the builder's other levels, only this time it's in Egypt. So, if you didn't happen to enjoy those levels in question, then this one isn't really going to change your mind. Avoid at all costs." - Ceamonks890 (30-Jun-2014)
"Less than 30 minutes of TR1 Egypt style raiding, with plenty of guns, ammo and medipacks to find and panthers and crocs to shoot (although to be honest it's all readily achievable with pistols alone). A bit of climbing, a morsel of swimming and a few levers to pull just about completes the gameplay. Unless you're a real TR1 aficionado, it's really not worth the hassle of playing in DOSBox." - Jay (05-Feb-2014)
"Short, rather pleasant TR1 level. Some textures, especially on pillars looked all the same and gave the level a bit boring look but beside that it's rather nice looking. Nothing special but for being so old level it's quite nice." - Casual Raider (11-Jul-2013)
"Although shorter than "Vulture Tower", there is much more fun gameplay and better enemy and texture placement. The rooms looked OK and to shoot all those enemies was nice. I think there is big improvement over the first level." - manarch2 (24-Jan-2011)
"Not a lot to say about this one, really.Pull a few levers;shoot a handful of panthers;jump up some blocks in identically textured rooms;end the level. Little attempt has been made to create atmosphere with lighting or sounds;and enough ammo and medipacks have been left lying around to make the killing undemanding. 20 straightforward minutes." - Orbit Dream (30-May-2010)
"I liked this level. This level is 10 years old. Don't need to comparate with the levels from these days. Yes indeed it was a good level at that year. Try it, if you like the TR1 locations, textures, even if buggy sometimes." - Obig (14-May-2010)
"A little romp in old TR1 Egypt , enjoyable enough, with climbs , a few jumps on pillars, some levers to find and pull, a few movable blocks some of which were part of the gameplay and some were not, pick ups and black panthers and crocs. Lighting is missing entirely , but texturing is competently made. [ 15 minutes ]" - eRIC (01-May-2010)
"I liked this better than the author's other levels. Uses colorful Egyptian textures to enhance the environment (though the author is still overusing his favorite leafy green texture). A bit of variety for such a small size. Lara searches several rooms, doing pillar jumps, climbing on movable blocks, to throw levers and open new passages, all while combating a slew of panthers, plus crocodiles on land and in water. If you're not using the walkthrough, you may need to even think a bit." - dmdibl (19-Apr-2010)
"Pointless and boring. Yeah, it's from Venus Vulture. The rooms are textured nicely but the gameplay is still so bad. Seems like the builder has ran out of gameplay ideas. A few animals to kill, and a few switches to push. Otherwise, I pushed some of the blocks, but after a while I realised it was unnecessary to do, so that made the game longer for me. Another one which is simply too boring to play." - rtrger (06-Apr-2010)
"15 minutes of exploration and a bit of jumping with lots of panthers to kill. Does not sound like much, but I did enjoy the quick romp, as these textures have always been among my favourites. Just watch out that many of the pushable blocks simply do not need to be pushed." - MichaelP (29-Mar-2010)
