Reviewer's comments
"'Now it's dark', we're in the Twin Peaks universe. All reviewers up to now are of course wrong, wrong and wrong again! You see, this author just promises what the title says people, you end back on 'square' one with only one slight difference, you are now on the other side of the fence from the beginning of the level. Mind you, starting in pitch black and not noticing 'that' on the floor I thought I had landed in episode 8 of Twin Peaks 3. You know the brilliant totally bonkers episode (for weirdo's like me) or either dead boring one (for the others) in black and white with the horrifying dirty men, one saying 'Got a light?'. Nothing of that though, on the contrary, it's a nice stroll through corridors, the builder rewarding you with health packs for all the sweating you endure on your way to a beautiful reward, the golden rose. I just can't give this 4 zero's. I like corridors with not too much stressful puzzles now and then." - bERT (26-Dec-2022)
"Other reviewers have already said what needs to be said. Utter rubbish. Don't bother folks." - Torry (05-Oct-2022)
"It’s a TR4 Lara in a TR3 catsuit running through a suite of narrow corridors with TR1 textures. You pick up medipacks in order to open doors until you hear a secret sound. There’s a Golden Rose on the floor. Then you run some more. The end. If it’s a joke, nobody seems to get it. If it isn’t…well.
I haven’t had any prior experience with this builder, but my guess is that this probably isn’t the best choice for a first contact with their body of work. It makes a good case, however, for giving a wide berth to any level to which a radical subjectivist (‘I see a tree…makes me feel like I’m deep in the woods’—not an actual quote) gives the highest marks by a wide margin, especially when the scoring is otherwise dominated by zeroes given out by reviewers who make use of that option much less liberally than, for example, I do. An eminently skippable experience." - Mulf (17-Feb-2022)
"It seems that this author got out of ideas... Very poor this short level only to pick up some medipacks to open doors and a rose in the final room. And that's all; you can finish in less than 5 minutes. A waste of time." - Jose (28-Oct-2020)
"Those are becoming more and more difficult to rate. Was I bored? No. Was I intrigued? Yes. Was I running out of supplies? Never. Did I get the final prize? Of course. Being absolutely honest, I enjoyed it much better than certain ambitious levels which screw up those basic necessities while being bloated with keys and switches. Still, the creativity involved is almost none, and the entire thing ended between kwasek and bigos (first and second meal of my dinner), so I cannot really give much. I sincerely appreciated this little break, though." - DJ Full (17-Oct-2020)
"What an oddity from a builder who has previously treated us to some really enjoyable levels. I wondered if it was intended to be a joke level, but it isn’t classified as such. One long run through a passageway, picking up medipacks to trigger the opening of doors is a very strange way to pass the time. Mystifying!" - Jay (27-Aug-2020)
"I don't get it. Why releasing this in the first place? 5 minutes or so of walking through a nicely textured environment to get a secret? Does this hide a secret? Wolfy Regards." - Wolf7 (17-Aug-2020)
"Might as well call it Lara in a Corridor. Not much to see or do here other than run towards the end, picking up a few medipacks and a secret along the way. It features the ring inventory and an AOD background track, plus Lara's outfit looks nice, so there's that. 2 minutes, 1 secret. 08/20" - Treeble (09-Aug-2020)
"I can't imagine what would lead this accomplished builder to release a two-minute fragment like this to the consuming public, nor can I imagine why it should consume 54.70MB of valuable download space. My first thought was that someone else was playing a cruel joke on him by submitting a level bearing his name, but since there's been no reaction from him I guess the answer lies somewhere else. Anyway, I've already spent more time writing this "review" than it took for me to navigate the single winding corridor, opening doors by picking up medipacks, and then stumbling across the well-hidden secret before reaching the exit trigger." - Phil (07-Aug-2020)
"There is nothing to do. We just run in very long corridor and pickup some medipacks and that's all. Maybe there's something hidden in this level? It's have quite large size of file..." - BlackWolfTR (04-Aug-2020)
"Something has, I believe, unintentionally gone wrong with this level. Let's deal first though with what we actually have as a level. You follow a linear path along a corridor. To progress, you pick up medipacks, these open the door in front of you. This 'run, pickup medipack, proceed' pattern repeats several times until you reach the end. On the face of it, this is a glorified style unit, perhaps testing some pickup triggers. The textures are all used adequately with no cracks and everything feels fairly cohesive. The mixture of Peru TR3 textures with London textures is odd but forgiveable. My hunch is that this *is* supposed to be a London level, situated underground. Efforts at customisation have clearly been made with the weaponry and a London styled TR4 Lara and the use of the Angel of Darkness ambience track adds atmosphere rather than resorting to a default ambience track. All sounds from those which can be tested here are present, correctly pitched and working correctly. However, this is still an incredibly basic experience that barely constitutes a level. I took it upon myself then, knowing the potential of this builder to take a look at the level Wad in Tomb Editor's wadtool (which contains all the objects the builder would use in the level) and to my surprise, it is *full* of really interesting objects which speaks to a full gameplay experience. All London themed and highly customised, some of which I suspect the builder might have made themselves! There was definitely more intended here and this level is no true reflection of the builder's capabilities. I hope whatever was intended will see the light of day. N.B. I strongly, strongly disagree with other reviewers rating the last two categories 0s and 1s. While the gameplay is nearly non-existent, there is nothing wrong (but nothing spectacular either I admit) with what is actually there in terms of sound, atmosphere, lighting or textures. I appreciate some might feel short changed about the experience as a whole but some attempt should be made to remain objective on categories for the sake of being constructive." - Reggie (28-Jul-2020)
"Even at an average score of 1.29 I think this is an overrated piece of "work" thankfully taking only two minutes to finish. I see no need in releasing this to the public, maybe if it had been a joke or the like, but no..." - manarch2 (27-Jul-2020)
"As others say, there might be a hidden message to it but otherwise the level is not worth a play because you just run a few corridors, pick some stuff, and then finish the level." - Kubsy (27-Jul-2020)
"About 364 meters of a tunnel to run through, the only thing I was glad about, that it wasn't a maze." - Gerty (24-Jul-2020)
"The question is: why release such a pointless level? Unless there is a well hidden easter-egg which opens a passage to a secret playable area, there is nothing to do here. I have the feeling that this level has been released for spam pourposes, because I noticed that StudBuddha updated his previous games few days before releasing this one. So, ok! If this is a promotion, I do my best to help: don't play this game but the previous games of this author. Don't bother if you already played them, play them again because they have been updated and now they are much better." - Teone (23-Jul-2020)
"I've started playing a couple of this builders previous levels, but never got very far with them due to confusingly irritating gameplay. This time around,I'm delighted to say that I completed it effortlessly...mainly because there's absolutely nothing whatsoever to see,do,nor comment upon." - Orbit Dream (22-Jul-2020)
"There may well be some deeper meaning in this, but if so it completely did not unveil itself to me as a player. All I saw was a series of tunnels to run through for a few minutes with occasional pickups and doors opening until reaching the finish trigger at the end. The original download size of the first 100+ custom levels combined (back in the year 2000) was much smaller than this 50+ MB package, so maybe it is a metaphor for how we should rather not be wasting our resources so uselessly in this day and age when our planet is dying? Then again, maybe that is giving this release more credit than it deserves and it is actually just what it is: a rather dull run through a few corridors..." - MichaelP (21-Jul-2020)
"With a net gaming time of 2 minutes 35 seconds, this is undoubtedly one of the shortest levels on the Level Index and in all honesty, it's a pretty pointless experience. The title seems to promise something completely different from what you experience here and maybe there's some deeper, symbolic meaning to this but I highly doubt it. Just canter through a few dull (although not badly textured) corridors, pick up a few useless supplies and then end the level. I suppose it's OK as an experiment, but otherwise it's incredibly uninspiring to play. And the download size is abnormally large..." - Ryan (21-Jul-2020)
"Walk straight ahead, get medicpacks to open doors, and nothing more. I don't understand the objective of this author when launching this level. 3 minutes only." - Mister-B (21-Jul-2020)
