Reviewer's comments
"Short level. There are black scorpions that fortunately don't poison you when bitten, crocodiles and red ninjas. Some jumping to do, a horrible maze, and easy tasks. There's no finish trigger and the game doesn't even crash as the walkthrough states. Lara just gets stuck in an illegal slope, which is a wall right in front of a slope, so that's the fate of our poor heroine and we have no option but to quit the level manually." - alan (15-Mar-2023)
"15 minutes later the game crashed to the desktop. Retrospectively i thought there was not a lot to do in this level , aside using Lara's basic moves and finding a few secrets. I appreciated that weapons such as the revolver could be find so to deal quickly with the red ninjas. texturing could be better at times (for the reason that walls are not segmented enough) but still there was those TR3 Egyptian textures not often seen. Flybys are nicely executed. The big scissors trap is without sound. A relaxing undemanding level." - eRIC (01-Jul-2021)
"A 20-minute short in the Karnak style, its running time split equally between a maze, three or so well-executed but entirely gratuitous flybys, and a string of often rather astonishingly mundane tasks (enter room, pick up your prize). Well-designed, though most of it is window-dressing, and the all too common shadow bulb problem in this instance even misled one reviewer to believe he had come across a missing texture when there was in fact an underwater door, pitch-black and unrecognisable as such until you press CTRL in front of it; sedate in tone with rare spikes of excitement (an unexpected couple of crocodiles high up on a ledge). Pickups are as abundant as they are redundant, thus serving mainly to prolong the time you spend here; best use you can make of the game is probably (as Dimpfelmoser suggests) having it ease you gently into sleep. I did, however, like the fact that puzzle items come in pairs, one of which is already in place; an idea that could well be revived for custom puzzles which aren’t as familiar as the standard ones used here." - Mulf (26-Oct-2019)
"Another early level that looks good and provides an entertaining raid of about 30 minutes. Only one secret is documented in the walkthrough, and I found three, so by definition they couldn't have been very well hidden. Also undocumented in the walkthrough is the laser sight dropped by a slain assassin, but I never found any use for it. The gameplay is fairly straightforward, although I can understand why some players may have failed to figure out that you need to shoot vases in far-off crawlspaces in two of the walls in order to open the door that allows you to proceed. The lighting shows everything off to good advantage, so that a flare is rarely needed. I'm finding that playing some of these Dawn Age levels can be quite a rewarding experience, even those that are not Hall of Fame material." - Phil (27-Jan-2018)
"This is quite a straightforward level compared to most out there, but pleasant to play nonetheless. The settings and textures are quite attractive and the flyby sequences well executed. The linearity of the gameplay may make it seem a little tame, but I'll admit these easy raids have their place. Don't be disconcerted by the maze near the beginning; it's not as long winded as some out there and although you likely won't need all of the provided ammo and weaponry scattered around, it's a nice gesture nonetheless. A nice little quickie for something relatively easygoing and quite well constructed." - Ryan (25-Jan-2018)
"A blameless twenty minute level with straightforward gameplay. There are ninjas, crocs and scorpions as enemies and the action mainly involves exploring. There is a maze, but it's a straightforward 'follow the left hand wall' job, so no problem. Solidly built and quite pleasant to look at, this could be a very good choice for a new player." - Jay (15-Sep-2016)
"This was a short level yet it managed to be pleasing. It takes place in a Karnak style temple using standart karnak wad. The surroundings, objects and enemies are all in the usual temple of karnak style. Gameplay is mostly without any events or puzzles but flows nice (even the maze doesn't hinder the flow). Strolling through the ruins has a realistic feel to it so the atmosphere is good enough. Recommended if you want a short and relaxed one." - Nomad (15-Sep-2016)
"Not bad this short level with a lineal gameplay design, except the maze area, but not a very nasty maze. Not difficult tasks, enough pickups, the uzis appeared too late when there's no more enemies to shoot; I never found the crossbow too. Only red ninjas and black scorpions as enemies. There's a dark pit near the end you can explore but you can't go up (reload). There is a solid architecture, and the textures are well applied creating good environments. Very suitable for beginners." - Jose (23-Feb-2016)
"Now this was a standard Karnak-WAD adventure which, despite linear and short, proved to be fun. And good looking, too. There were a number of textures I hadn't seen before, despite the age of this level. There were, unfortunately, a couple of stretched textures throughout the level, nothing too distracting however. The few scorpions in the beginning pop into existance out of thin air. One unusual feature of the level is that you always look for only one piece, the other already being in its resting place. 15 minutes, 2 secrets." - Treeble (31-Aug-2007)
"I was greatly disconcerted when I spotted a missing texture only seconds into this level but things improved from there. The puzzles are pretty straightforward (the floating platform room is the best) and progress is very linear albeit well crafted. Those twin-lightening obelisks put in yet another appearance and once more serve no purpose. Anyone who can't manage to complete this adventure is advised to give up Tomb Raiding." - Orbit Dream (17-Jul-2002)
"What an enormously amusing little level. After the much-hated maze in the beginning for a multitude of pick-ups that weren't needed and the vraeus it moved very nicely and easily along. Nothing terribly difficult but quite entertaining for a nice 20 minutes break from reality. Key pick-ups include a guardian key and one canopic jar the author thoughtfully places another key and jar for you. I also would like to know how those 2 crocs got up on that ledge! Shades of Yasin in Sanus I lol. A couple of ninjas and an abundance of black scorpions are your enemies but easily dispatched." - Momster (16-Jul-2002)
"This is another pretty standard temple level with no outstanding aspects although there are some cool glowing floating platforms in one room and no amazing game play with the extent being easy progression from room to room finding a handful of key pick ups and shooting a few enemies. Taking me 25 minutes to play and finding 4 secrets this is the kind of level you play when you don't want to think too much and just have a relaxing raid." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"A level for beginners. Very linear with a few scorpions ninjas and crocodiles to kill and a few pickups to find and place. There is a simple maze and two well-designed fly-by cameras. Nice and quick one for in between - took me 15 minutes to complete" - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"Quite a reasonable little level built on the karnak wad that will take you away from the world for around 15 minutes. Nothing special here though. It's the usual object hunt with a few red ninjas thrown in. One question I would like to ask is how the hell did that croc get up on that ledge?" - Torry (21-Jun-2002)
"Although not a hard level this is great if you're looking for something light and fun and a great break from some of the frustrating levels that are out there. Though using the same Egypt textures the creator has managed to make this a very attractive level. There are a few enemies consisting mainly of scorpions ninjas and some crocs in an unusual place. Overall I had an enjoyable time finding and placing objects as I escaped with my hard won Amulet of Horus." - Raider Girl (21-Jun-2002)
"Small level but very fun to play. Apart from the pick-ups you need you also find an overload uzi ammo and by the time you get the uzi you don't need it. The crocs scared the living daylights out off me never expected crocs where they were LOL. Only draw back I found that the level was too small." - Gerty (21-Jun-2002)
"A 20 minutes level with nice textured rooms. For Tomb Raider veterans this level is too easy. I didn't even need a medipack the enemies are 2 crocodiles some ninjas and some scorpions. The puzzles are no challenge. For newbies I can recommend this level the camera sequences and graphics look very good." - Freeman Porter (21-Jun-2002)
"Although a short level this was remarkable for the amount of play packed into a small download of 377KB. Quite enjoyable but not difficult." - Fairy Godfather (21-Jun-2002)
"There are easy levels but this is one of the easier ones. I don't want hard or impossible levels but this was a little boring. You can play this level in some minutes. The author was very generous with items that you will never use. The author used lights in some rooms that give a good sensation of volume to Lara. Textures were not worked well (some short some long)." - Lorena (21-Jun-2002)
"Definitely a fun level to play. I really liked the flow no difficulty but the way you get from one place to another collecting puzzle items left me with a good impression. A maze in between was interesting giving access to the golden vraeus. The guardian key and one canopic jar are the other puzzle items. The areas were very convincing without flaws as far as I saw with standard textures but that doesn't mean boring not at all. Your enemies are ninjas and scorpions the guns you get for their elimination are the uzi revolver and shotgun. I enjoyed the secrets for once they were smart enough but not too hard. Recommended." - Kristina (21-Jun-2002)
"Writing this review will probably take me longer than I needed to finish the game and you're right of course it's far too easy for the experienced raider. However if you had a hard day at work come home late and don't want to get into something serious but just have a bit of a distraction before you go to sleep this is not too bad. You get weapons medi packs and fly bys you don't need a maze you can't get lost in and the assassins never attack in a group. Also there is an element of bad timing cause two minutes into the game you get this dramatic TR theme that is usually reserved for the very end (like when you finally managed the really tricky obstacle). But here you simply walk into the room and collect the Amulet just like that. The setting suits the primitive gameplay quite well and the secret I stumbled upon was as easy to find as it was useless. All in all only to be played if you want to up your review count." - Dimpfelmoser (21-Jun-2002)
