Reviewer's comments
"The fact that you can't save adds to the challenge, although at first I was a little annoyed by that but seeing as it was a rather short ride, I think you can complete it like that in one go. There's a combination of egypt ruins with a brief section of an underground laboratory. It was fun to play but I wished there were more enemies to roll over because that's really fun for me." - alan (28-Jan-2020)
"Pretty decent ride. I had fun using the bike again, and it was actually pretty challenging. There isn't much to talk about really. If you're looking for some simplistic fun, this is it." - SeniorBlitz (01-Mar-2018)
"Well, that was actually fun. It was certainly fun to ride a motorcycle again. I found the racetrack quite tricky to navigate around. Settings are functional, nothing more. But worth a look at the very least." - Ryan (14-Apr-2016)
"I usually never play levels where I can't save, but this time seeing in the reviews that it was short I decided to take a try. Entertaining ride where you even must use the nitrous oxide to save some pits; kill some enemies on your way, escape from machine guns and manoeuvre through naroow and dangerous paths. It took me less than 10 minutes, the background music is appropriate and the environments are well worked.I think it was not builded for a single player, but for a contest in a meeting, but nice to play anyway." - Jose (01-Dec-2015)
"While considerably one-sided with the whole 'race' concept(especially when you have a motorbike on hand and your sole competitor prefers to just stand there at the beginning staring into space), it more or less starts to become a test of player skill, to see if you can reach the end without dying to any of the hazards or few enemies laid out on the track(due to the save function having been disabled) and not so much a race in the traditional sense of the term. Regardless though, it was fun while it lasted, concluding at around three minutes for me once I managed to achieve a perfect runthrough of the level. And despite me having preferred to have seen a few more enemies, a proper finish trigger, some more object utilization or even actual opponents to race against in the final release, what's on offer here is functional enough. So if you're a fan of racing levels, I cannot recommend this enough for a quick playthrough at the very least." - Ceamonks890 (02-Dec-2014)
"I thought after several rather long and elaborate games I could try something that isn't overly taxing, and this was a near-perfect choice. I found the bike ride to be great fun with a few challenging parts but nothing overly frustrating considering the save option was removed in this level. The latest race levels I've played had a somewhat crude environment, but here sound, texturing and lighting were quite decent but still functional; the change of settings (coastal, base, jungle) was surprising and worked in a way. Maybe the voiceovers could have been in English (although I could understand it) but understandably so since the intention of this game was a German meeting. Maybe a little bit more of decoration and a few more enemies (only some soldiers and sentryguns at the end) would have been used to spice things up a little bit and a finish trigger would be good too, but it was fun while it lasted and that's the most important thing." - manarch2 (26-Oct-2012)
"Well, this is by far the best racing level I have ever played in the TR world. It certainly reminded me of Jet Moto (my favorite race track was "Nightmare", which was somehow built miles above a big city) because of the competitive spirit that it instilled in the player and the number of times Lara died while she was riding her motorcycle. The fact that it is impossible to save makes the level more difficult. I found the combination of a Coastal environment, a VCI area and a desert quite interesting (a mix of modern and ancient elements). The author clearly indicates the locations of the 2 parts of the nitrous oxide canister, which you will need in order to go up a few slopes. My time was 3:38, but I had to hit the brakes a few times because of the narrow walkways over the pool of water. So this race track is realistic because the player can't simply hit the acceleration button and go." - Sakusha (03-Jan-2006)
"Another race with the vehicle level, came across it in a contest Lara has to complete an obstacle course run over enemies take dangerous curves over water. Ps:Even Nitro is included for your bike. Must play if you like racing levels." - Anurag (24-Dec-2005)
"Anything with any of Lara's vehicles is fine with me. There are a few race levels out there but this is the best IMHO. Flat out jumps combined with tricky narrow sections. If you want to try for best time then it is even important to position your stops accurately. Combine all this with the oportunity to run down Ninjas and SAS guards and avoid sentry guns and you have three minutes of great fun." - Jez (16-Dec-2005)
"As I'm a fan of racing games, I really liked this one! It is a pity that there could not be a timer present like the one at the obstacle course in tr2/tr3. This is race level so there is not much more to say about the other categories. The most important thing is present though...the gameplay, and it is perfect!" - QRS (08-Dec-2005)
"Great idea, I think it's brilliant to play a race game from time to time. Wish there were more. :) Though the time I needed is terrible (3:42, second try), I had lots of fun. But I might try it again and see if I can at least beat Ian... :D" - Tinka (04-Dec-2005)
"This is one hell of a rush! An obstacle course that is virtually impossible to complete on a first try as there are several well-placed 'surprise' moments that (obviously) come upon you with little or no warning;but as an "I'm determined to complete it THIS time!" level,it's huge fun. Everything is competantly built (considering you'll invariably speed past it) and the track is nicely paced, with slow suspenseful bits (maneuvering over walkways) and exciting bits (the adrenaline rush moments as you hurtle up and over water while machine guns blast away at you)thus allowing for entertaining gameplay for the short time this lasts. No more than a 'throw-away' level, but a fun one all the same." - Orbit Dream (02-Dec-2005)
"Well it's nice driving on the motorbike not much to do here and you can't save in the level so you need to drive carefully but very enjoyable." - Yoav (06-Mar-2004)
"I don't really know how to rate this level because it is unique in its own way. You see I liked it very much but due to the lack of enemies some SAS guards and real game play I can't rate it high. The goal is to reach the end by driving the bike and perform some not very easy jumps with it. Sometimes you have to carefully drive on a ramp some others sprint so get the nitro oxide canister or break walls. I started it at least five times before I succeeded and I got very upset when I was almost to the end but failed on the last jump. I enjoyed this even if I got frustrated at some point. It's something different and I would recommend it." - Kristina (22-Jul-2003)
"The level looks quite nice but you can't neither save or reload and that made my play time frustrating at times cause you never know if water will appear after a corner or if the jump will be a hard one and you'll have to use the NO feeder but the level serves its purpose so I won't complain. My time through this race was 2:50 minutes." - eTux (09-Feb-2003)
"Magnus don't show off all the time! I succeeded on my tenth try and it took me more than five minutes. I didn't mind that you can't save cause that gave me the excuse to listen to Rio's seductive introduction over and over again. The fun course is quite good with some nice action tricky maneuvering over water (well only tricky if you try to do it at full speed) and the occasional jump. I reckon it's the best race level there is but then again TR is not a race game and it lacks the smooth dynamics we are used to from proper rally games. However it makes you wanna attend one of those TR meetings doesn't it?! And that can't be a bad thing." - Dimpfelmoser (06-Dec-2002)
"The guys have pretty much said it this is purely a bike race with a couple of risky places to maneuver a couple of jumps a handful of baddies to mow down and no save option to make it just that teeny bit harder. By the way my time was 4.35 all right stop laughing Michael you men may be faster on the bike but I make it look good!" - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"A pure fun level which was built as a challenge for the 2nd German Tombraider Meeting. And fun it is to make it down the racetrack trying to beat the unofficial record time of 2:54! I gave up at 3:09 maybe you can do better ;-)" - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"Well I liked it. Although my time will not put me on the starters grid at 'Bathurst' this was a genuinely fun level to play. Especially running over all those SAS baddies *crunch*." - Torry (21-Jun-2002)
"Well... this level is just a 'follow-the-road-racing' level. All you have to do is follow the road collect the items that you can't miss (or else you're blind!); get your bike faster and run over some dudes." - Treeble (21-Jun-2002)
"What an enjoyable level! It's short simple light and quick. This is pure action and when you play it your adrenaline will start pumping. Riding with the motorcycle through the short level made me want more! Absolutely worth a try!" - Yonatan (21-Jun-2002)
"I thought this obstacle course for the motorcycle was fun but a little frustrating as well. It starts off with a short flyby of the beginning of the race area and has Von Croy following you around till you race off on the bike. There's also a short dialogue at the beginning but as it's in German I'm not sure what it said. The 'race track' is pretty cool as it takes you through some different looking areas. First there is a coastal type area with narrow walkways over a large pool of water some rooms where you must collect the nitrous oxide and pipe then some storage areas with crates and some great jumps over pools of water. Then after a short drive through a desert style area in which you run over some ninjas and soldiers you get to a more hi-tech area with more soldiers machine guns VCI style textures and equipment. The last jump gave me a hard time as you have to go up a slope and it's hard to build up enough speed and you have to do it just right. This last jump takes you back to a coastal type area and the end of the race. I personally would have enjoyed this much more if I had been able to save. There are many blind jumps where you don't know what's coming up so it's basically trial and error to get through till you have seen all of the course so I ended up starting the whole thing over many times. I could probably beat my time of four minutes but was just glad to make it all the way through without crashing." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002)
"OK this not a game as such but I had to try it nonetheless. Not a big fan of vehicles and I probably made the worse time around even after trying it several times so bad that I am embarrassed to put down my time sorry. 12-05-2002" - Gerty (21-Jun-2002)
"A race on a short track. Nothing less nothing more. My time: 2:48." - Magnus (21-Jun-2002)
