Reviewer's comments
"Not difficult to play this short level with some small defects, like the paper walls/floors, the not appropriate flame emitters for the wall torches or the difficulty to climb the ledge with the scroll. All rooms are too dark, and sometimes it's difficult to explore even with flares. The enemies are well balanced, and there are enough pickups but not too many. There are some traps to avoid too, and not much more to say about this lineal level. Playable." - Jose (23-Jan-2018)
"I don't really know what to say about this level, as it just seemed underwhelming. All you've got to do here is run through a few huge empty rooms, killing off enemies, solving a ridiculously easy globe "puzzle and do a couple of jumps. There's a scroll that requires the use of a bug of some sort, and the lava room jumps were unusually difficult (until I realised that I could avoid them simply by running through the metal pillar supports), but it's otherwise a non-event." - Ryan (15-Dec-2017)
"I used to be somewhat of a fan of Silent Viper's levels, but I have to say I was quite disappointed with this one. The environments are bland and boxy, textured with a mix of different atmospheres resulting in something that looks like everything and nothing at the same time, and gameplay is as straightforward as it gets - don't even expect huge gun fights, even though the weaponry found right behind Lara at the start might suggest otherwise. The level ends, abruptly, as you leave this level without going through half a dozen other doors scattered in the previous rooms. There is a very annoying jump sequence in a room where the ceiling is low, but you can bypass the pixel precision required by merely running through the fence that has no collision whatsoever. 15 minutes, 1 secret. 05/09" - Treeble (06-May-2009)
"A level that suffers from much too large rooms, thus you can easily avoid mummies or templars. The sometimes eerie, atmospheric lighting doesn't help enough to make it look good. You can't pick up one puzzle item in the normal way due to a bug. In the room with the easiest pushing puzzle ever I thought this might be a joke level? Occasionally good action, for example with the rolling balls after the long slide down, or the enemies attacking before you find the blue gem. You put the gem in its receptacle and the level suddenly ends after only 13-14 minutes. Less memorable than other levels from the same creator." - Ruediger (22-Mar-2008)
"Aside from a few good boulder or spike traps there's really not much to do in this 12 minute level except shoot some baddies with your big gun and look for a scroll key and gem. Looks like this was the authors first level though and he has improved so much since this was made." - RaiderGirl (04-Jul-2003)
"A level with no puzzles or much action. Knights mummies a key a gem a scroll and the end. I don't know about this release given the fact that Christian usually builds jungle levels this one had rather empty rooms and it's pretty straightforward. I had to look at the forum about the scroll though. Have a look it will just take a little over than ten minutes." - Kristina (26-Jun-2003)
"This level is not a bad but short one and there's a bug when getting the Scroll. You are not able to climb up onto the ceiling just jump. There are no added sounds but the textures are great. The enemies consist of some mummies knights bats and 2 monsters. I don't know exactly how many secrets are there in the level but I found one: the Grenade Gun. Well as for my opinion I saw much more levels made by this author. Perhaps this level served as a bit of relaxation for him. :-) This is not bad for some relaxation indeed but it comes to a fast end." - Obig (22-Jun-2003)
"An older level that got released only now. I though Lara's haircut was cool and that shotgun would easily suit a Pulp Fiction style movie. Architecture and Gameplay is unfortunately rather dull with a series of big square rather empty rooms (nice choice of textures and colours though) and little activity going on (boulder trap planet push key scroll shoot a high ball gem and you're done). The squeaking mummies are hilarious and the other enemies are not much of a threat and it is all over after 12 minutes or so - but for all those of you who dozy'd to get the scroll - shame on you - it's a really simply jump up to get it ;-)." - Michael (01-Jun-2003)
"This is an extraordinarily silly level which has apparently no rhyme or reason to it. Lara goes in picks up some massive weaponry blows her enemies into little pieces (or ignores them altogether) runs through several huge pointless rooms (including one with a push/pull non-puzzle) is unable to reach a key-pick up (forcing the player to cheat) blows up more enemies and exits. The End. 7 MB for this?? Christian is capable of far far better." - Orbit Dream (20-May-2003)
"I wonder if the author actually made this level prior to Caribbean Disaster 4-6 because it isn't nearly as good. It's short and quite sweet but certainly nothing out of the ordinary. The rooms are huge and empty and there isn't a great deal to do apart from running through them avoiding crumby crusaders and mummies (at least until you get the grenade gun he he). Boulders and spikes to avoid no difficult moves or puzzles just straightforward standard raiding. Not the most exciting of levels but worth a look at if you just want to play something quick and easy. 19-05-2003" - Jay (19-May-2003)
"At the start of this level all was quite exciting because I thought the boulder room was the start of bigger things to come however it wasn't and it was the highlight of the level for me. Some knights to avoid a soldier looking enemy mummies and the only real threat were the two werewolf looking guys at the end if indeed it was the end because I'm sure I missed some rooms after the boulder fell in the corridor? Wonder if those doors opened back in the red room and I should have gone back but as I was able to finish the level by placing the gem I assumed that was it. Over very quickly and with two bugs I was a little disappointed but it was still worth a look at. Some nice textures used and some spooky dark areas if only there had been more aggressive enemies to tackle a few hard jumps and puzzles added this would have been an excellent level because the look of it was wonderful. I didn't like Lara's looks at all I'm afraid I love her just the way she's always been too much of a change in that department." - Moonpooka (19-May-2003)
"17 minutes of running around annihilating or avoiding mummies templar knights scorpions crocs werewolves and one toy soldier looking enemy for what reason? Who knows! There is an unexpected boulder trap near the start a movable globe a lava room you can circumvent earlier than I think is intended one easy to locate secret and a block jump. This feels more like the first level in a series as it ended very abruptly but even if so it was a little under par." - Sash (18-May-2003)
"There is definitively a bug in this level as I couldn't find a 'normal' way to get the scroll. For the rest it a short and straightforward level with quite some different enemies in it. Mummies knights and I even saw an Ahmet and some crocs. Push the globe find a key scroll and later a gem and there was a long long slide with a boulder trap and some nasty spikes as well. One boulder was blocking the door so by jumping around a bit I could pass it. Some jumping over lava and after placing the gem the end. 15-05-2003" - Gerty (18-May-2003)
"I must say up front that I'm not at all certain that I played this whole game. At least I don't get the feeling that I played a complete game. 'Dome of Hills' looks kind of nice. Lara hair has been restyled. I don't like it but then I haven't restyled my hair since the 60's (haven't had much to restyle to be honest). There is a bug or two (see comments in the forum) one of which will stop you cold if you concede easily. There is a body of greenish liquid which should be toxic to Lara and isn't. Very odd. Enemies? A few here and there but none that can't be ignored. If you prefer to wage war you can write to President Bush or use the weapons supplied. There are no puzzles of any merit except one that is a suckers play -- Hmm should I try to make impossible jumps or just make possible ones. As I mentioned in the forum it took me 12 minutes to download this game and about 15 minutes to play it (the second time). I did not enjoy it either time." - Dougsan (18-May-2003)
"What a creative level. I couldn't believe it was all over so fast. It's not easy to describe this level like where it's located in the world it could be anywhere. Right at the start in an outdoor area Lara gets one 'serious' looking shotgun. I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me but I don't like Lara's hair. She looks like she lost an argument with a circular blade trap. Each to his/her own taste. She straight away slides down a long way and gets a fright in a room with falling boulders. That woke me up. And onwards to a series of straightforward challenges one being a great looking dead knight. The level is very very dark in places but it suits the atmosphere and the textures are well done. Looking forward to seeing what the author produces in future." - CC (18-May-2003)
