Maya Legends - Part 1: Maya Remains

You
drop from a helicopter and land in front of a cliff.  There are closed gates and a wall switch to the east. The wall switch is a spike trap. Go to the south-east corner and push in a movable block in the south wall. At the end, enter a room to the west for secret #1 and a Golden Skull. Go back outside to the north-west corner. You see a plant growing through a rock. Shoot the rock and use the floor lever that you uncovered. The gates in the east wall open.

 

Go down the tunnel on the left side as spikes shoot out of the right wall. Go pass them and go to the right. Enter an alcove for shotgun normal ammo. Stay to the right as spikes shoot out of the left wall. Go pass them and into a left alcove for flares. Continue down the tunnel and see a closed gate in the south-east corner. Go north to a closed gate and see a receptacle on the west wall. To the left of the receptacle is a movable block. Push the block in as far as possible to reveal an alcove with a wall switch. Save in front of the wall switch for a timed run. Pull and run out and go south into the timed small south gate. You need to use sprint to make the gate. Once you make it into the tunnel, the gate will stay open.

 

Follow the tunnel and enter a room.  A block rises to block your exit. Go to the north-east corner for shotgun normal ammo. Go south down a corridor to the end. Notice a closed door to east and an opening to the west. Go to the south-east corner and pick up the shotgun. Turn around and jump up to grab and pull down a jump switch. Go to the north-east corner for shotgun normal ammo. Go back to the opening in the corridor and see that a block has descended. Go into the opening and turn a hand wheel. You hear the gate opening behind you. Go to the open gate and turn around. Hop back and grab the edge. Release and grab the crawl space below. Go into the crawl space for the Mayan Mask. Get out and shimmy to the left and climb down the ladder to the bottom. Pick up a large medipack from the ground. Use binoculars and look up and see a second opening under the crawl space. If you investigate it, you will see that is a fake.

 

Climb the ladder to the top and shimmy to the right and back into the room. Shoot the skeleton down the hole. The entrance block has dropped so exit this room. Go north and use the Mayan Mask to open the big gate. You enter an area with a closed gates and a pool in the middle. Go to the north-west corner. Turn around and look for a jump switch on the column. The jump switch is partially hidden by green vines. Pull down the jump switch and you hear a trap door drop open. Go into the pool and swim down into the open trap door. Pick up the Skull Key from the bottom. Get out of the pool and go to the east wall.

 

Use the Skull Key and the left gate opens. Enter and go east to see large closed gates. The wall switch in the south alcove is a death trap so ignore it until it is safe. The trap door there will drop open as you get close. Shoot the darker upper wall to the north to reveal an alcove. Hop into the alcove and pull the wall switch. This raises the trap door under the south wall switch. Go there and pull the safe wall switch to open the large east gates. You enter an area with a waterfall and a pool at the east wall. You can climb to the top of the structure at the entrance for Uzi ammo. In the east wall are three openings. The north and south alcoves contain two shotgun normal ammo. The middle opening has a room with a closed gate for later. Go forward to the pool and dive in. Go south and swim through the wall. Swim to the south corners for Uzi's and Uzi ammo. Exit and swim north though a wall. Immediately swim to the right into an alcove and pull down an underwater ceiling handle. Exit back to the pool and pull up. The gate at the north wall is open.

 

Enter the gate and it closes behind you. You face what appears to be a village. A thug rushes at you from between the east huts. A mercenary shoots at you from behind the west fence. The hut behind the west fence needs a key. Climb onto the roof of a hut in the east and pull up to a higher ledge. To the north you can see a floor lever behind a block. Follow the ledge around to the south-west corner and walk through a green wall. Go to the end of the tunnel and pull down a wall switch. Exit and go back to the floor lever. The block is down so you can use the floor lever. You get a cut scene of a wall dropping somewhere. Get down and go between the east huts and walk through the green wall. Enter the tunnel and stop between hanging foliage and look west and up. Above you should be a ladder. Climb the ladder and kill a thug. Pick up the Cabin Key and large medipack. Climb the ladder back down into the tunnel. Follow the tunnel to an open area with a temple.

 

Kill the leopard that is prowling around the ground. You cannot go through the opening in the temple. Go around the outside and enter the fence to the east. Go to the south-east corner of the area for a large medipack. Use the Cabin Key to open the door. Enter the hut and pick up the small waterskin from the desk. Exit and kill a mercenary. Notice a deep water hole at the north wall. Go west and into the temple. Look to a crawl space with a rock in the south wall. Shoot the rock and enter the crawl space. Pull the wall switch and get a cut scene showing the water hole at the north wall but a block has risen in it. Crawl back out and go to the water hole to fill the small waterskin. You have to hurry since the block is timed.

 

Exit back to the village area and carefully pour the water from the waterskin onto the campfire. The fire goes out, so crouch down to pick up the Cabin Key from the ashes. Go west and use the Cabin Key to open the door. A man runs out and into the village area. Do not shoot at him. He goes to the north wall and plays with the wall carving to open the gate in the north wall. You can enter the hut and pick up a small medipack from a desk. Then exit the hut and enter the north wall gate. You come to a three-way intersection. To the north is the wall that the floor lever removed. The two side branches are closed by gates. Enter and go to the east and enter an alcove for a small medipack. Kill a crocodile as you exit. Go to the west and enter an alcove for flares. Then continue north to a shallow pool of water. Go to the west and enter an alcove for a large medipack. Go east to enter an alcove for a shotgun normal ammo.

 

Stay on the east side and look behind a statue in an alcove for a jump switch. Pull down the jump switch and get a cut scene of a block dropping. Fill the waterskin from the pool just in case you need it again. At the north side of the pool, a tile appears darker than the others. Lift this trap door up from the west side. Dive into the hole for secret #2 and a Golden Skull. Continue north and see a large building behind a fence. Safety drop into the area and go to the south-east corner for the dropped block. Pull the wall switch and get a cut scene of a wall block dropping. Go west to find the dropped block in the south wall.

 

Enter the tunnel and at the end, climb down a wall ladder into another tunnel. Go north and pull up into a crawl space. Shoot the grate and drop into the room. Go to the east wall and shoot the cabinet. It shatters to reveal a corridor to more rooms. Follow the corridor and when it turns north, shoot another cabinet to reveal a crawl space. Enter the crawl space into a small room. Enter another crawl space in the west wall and shoot the grate. Enter the room and kill a mercenary to get a large medipack. Pick up the Cabin Key from a desk. Exit back to the corridor and go to the west. Shoot a cabinet to reveal a ladder. Climb the ladder and back flip to a ledge. Go south and use the Cabin Key to open the door and the fence gate opens as well. Go around the inside fence perimeter to pick up Uzi ammo from a large plant.

 

Return and enter the open door again. Climb the ladder at the north wall and back flip to a ledge. You are on the second floor walkway. Go to the west side and run over the bridge. There is a closed gate in front and a closed small gate in a south opening. Climb the block to the north and jump north to pull up to a higher ledge. Turn the wheel and the gate in the south alcove opens. Jump down to the ledge and enter the open gate. Look for a while tile on the floor. Jump and pull up to the east. Go east and go south. In the south tunnel you can find another opening near the south-east and pull up into a higher tunnel. In this tunnel look in the east branch for a hidden alcove. Enter the alcove and pull the wall switch. You get a cut scene of the block rising at the white tile. It is timed, of course. Pull the switch, roll, run and go left to the lower tunnel. Then run to the raised block in the center tunnel and pull the wheel. You hear a gate opening.

 

Exit and the big gate in the building is open. Go to the closed door and turn around to the east. Jump up and pull down the jump switch to open the door. Enter the corridor and shoot the cabinet to the north for shotgun normal ammo. Search the other corridors to kill a thug who drops a knife. Pick up a Skull Key from a desk and get a cut scene showing a lock next to a gate. Exit the building and cross the bridge to the central building. Now cross the east bridge and go to the north-east corner. There is a building behind a fence. Use the Skull Key and the gate opens beside you. Run up the ramp to the top and see a closed gate on the other side of a bridge. Turn to the east and jump through the foliage to pull down a jump switch. Go back up the ramp and cross the bridge. Go through the open gate and follow the ramp down into the area behind the fence.

 

Use the knife to pry open the east door of the building. Enter and shoot a grate to the north to pick up shotgun normal ammo. Go east and enter a south opening to pick up a Cabin Key from the desk. Turn around a kill a thug. Go east and shoot the cabinet and a door opens behind it. Exit the door and go to the right. Follow the building around the corner to a ladder. Climb the ladder to the roof and pick up Uzi ammo. Go east and drop off the roof to pull down a jump switch. You get a cut scene of a gate opening somewhere. Get down from the roof and exit back up the ramps. Cross the bridge back to the central building.

 

Cross the north bridge and use the Cabin Key to open the gate. Pick up Snake Stone #1 from the block. You get a cut scene of the entrance gate opening. A fire wraith start to fly around you. Run out and cross the bridge. Go left to the east bridge and drop to the ground outside the fence. Run to the south-east corner and find a small hill by the south wall. Pull up to the upper ledge and run for the shallow pool of water. Roll in the water until the fire wraith is extinguished. Go south back to the village area and the man is waving to you. Continue south and through the tunnel to the area with the waterfall.

 

Go to the south closed door. Shoot the skull on the stick to the right of the door and the door will open. Enter the door and it closes behind you. Go south through a mist layer and approach the temples. Kill a prowling leopard. This is a very large outdoor area. There are two small buildings to the east and west and a large central building to the north. Go to the west and climb the blocks to get to a building roof. Go west and eventually jump to a green ledge at the west wall. Follow the ledge south around a corner and go west again. At the end, jump onto a block and look up to see a jump switch on the north wall. Pull down the jump switch and hear a gate open.

 

Safety drop to the ground and kill a leopard. Go west into the building and through the open gate. Push the tall brown statue onto the decorative tile to the north. A block in the corner will drop and reveal a floor lever. Use the floor lever and get a cut scene of a gate opening in the central building. The gate beside you is closed. Exit and go east to see a large pool. Kill the crocodile and dive in. Go to the north-east and see a gate and an underwater lever on the north wall. Pull the underwater laver and a block drops behind you to the south-west. Swim there and pull down an underwater ceiling handle. You get a cut scene of a block dropping and revealing a tunnel. Get out of the water and go the back south-east corner of the pool. Follow the tunnel and there seems to be a skeleton fused into the wall. Climb the wall at the end of the tunnel and pull up to the roof. Go west and use the floor lever. You get a cut scene of another gate opening in the central building. Go to the front of the roof and look north. The central building north of the pool is where the gates are opening. The entrance is to west side. Dive into the poll and pull up on the north edge.

 

Go east and you find a building with an empty dry pool. Notice a slot in the inside south-east corner. Further east is a wall switch guarded by spikes and fire. Go west to the central building and use any one of many places to get onto the roof. Go east onto the roof of the empty pool building. Go the east wall and pull down a jump switch. Get down to the ground. The spikes and fire are gone from the wall switch. Use the wall switch and hear a flushing sound. Turn around and see that the empty pool is now filled with water. Dive in and swim into the empty slot. Pick up the Mayan Mask from the floor. Swim up and pull and underwater lever. You get a cut scene of a gate opening in front of a pedestal. Swim out and go east to the wall switch platform. Use the Mayan Mask and the gate beside you opens. Enter the tunnel and use the floor lever. You get a cut scene of another gate opening in the central building.

 

Go back to the entrance of this area where you saw two small buildings. Go into the west building and the gate is open. Pick up the Mayan Idol from the pedestal. Exit and go to the east building. Use the Mayan Idol to open the gate. Enter and use the floor lever and you get a cut scene of the final gate opening in the central building. Go north and west to find the entrance. In the second section, look to the left side for a large medipack. Ignore the first pedestal and go to the last room. Pick up Snake Stone #2 from the pedestal. You get a cut scene of the entrance gate opening. Roll and exit the building as a fire wraith follows you. Go through the last gate and it closes behind you. Turn left and run south into the water to get rid of the fire wraith.

 

Get out the water and go south. Go back through the open door and into the area with the waterfall. Get into the middle opening under the waterfall. Go east and use the two Snake Stones to open the big gates. Enter and go east and then north into a room. Notice the death icon in the north-west corner. Go there and jump over a deep pit. Run up the slope and emerge on a bridge over the waterfall area. Follow the bridge to the other side and go left and walk through the green wall. Look up above at the rock and save the game. Sprint down the slope and at the end, jump over the pit to land in a room. If you grab the wall to pull up, you are dead.

 

Go to the north-west corner and pull down the jump switch. The gates at the east wall open. Look down the slope with binoculars and you see a hole on the right side wall. Save the game at this point, as the next part is difficult. Slide down the slope and jump into that hole. Enter the open gate and go to the end. Get secret #3 and pick up a Golden Skull from the pedestal. Exit the tunnel and continue to slide down the slope as the level ends.
