The Lost Temple of Madubu Gorge

Level 1: La Jungla

 

You drop from a helicopter onto the ground. Pick up a PDA from the ground that tells you the mission. Go east and press the buttons on the two face columns and the door opens. Drop into the tunnel and the door closes. Go east and climb the ladder. At the top, pull up and slide down a slope. Go north and see a crawl space in the east wall. Enter the crawl space and stand up on the other side. Slide down a slope and jump over the spike pit. Drop into the next pit and go to the end. Pick up secret #1 and a shotgun (Escopeta) from the pedestal. Return and pull up to the ledge. Jump over the spike pit and crawl back into the first room. Go north and look east to see two tall closed gates. Pull up into an upper south corner alcove to the right of the gates. You get secret #2 and red shotgun shells.

 

Get down and go to the west side of the room. There is a deep water hole to the right with a closed underwater door. There is also a short red-brick block on a platform. Push that block to the west and into an alcove. Go south and pass a teeth door trap. Go to the end and pick up secret #3 and flares from a pedestal. Do not go east as there is a spike trap in front of you. Return to the room by way of the teeth door trap. Go north between the two rocks.  Stand beside the north wall and face the west rock. Back flip and jump forward to jump onto the west rock. Jump up and grab the ceiling. Monkey swing to the south and into a large upper alcove. You hear spikes popping on the floor below. Go to the south wall and pull down the wall switch. Monkey swing south back onto the rock where you started.

 

Jump to the south-west and into the water hole. Swim through the open door and pull up into a room. Press the button on the south wall and you hear a gate open. Swim back to the room and go to the open gates in the east wall. There is a tiger in the room if you want to shoot it. Dive into the water and notice an underwater door at the bottom. Swim through the crawl space in the east wall. Pull up into a tunnel and follow it to the end. Pull down the wall switch and pass through three teeth doors to get back to the water. Swim through the crawl space and then swim through the open underwater door. Follow the tunnel to pull up beside a waterfall in a jungle. Kill the monkey that attacks you.

 

Go north to another waterfall and a stream. Enter the stream and walk on the north side. You will fall into a deep hole. You get secret #4 and pick up a small medipack. Follow the stream to the east and you are at the top of a waterfall. Safety drop to a lower waterfall and then into a pool. There is a closed door in the south wall. Go east and cross a bridge over a deep water pool. There is another closed door to the east with a strange texture above it.  You can kill the two tigers in the jungle below you. Otherwise they get in the way later. You can also see an underwater hole near the east shore of the water. Dive into the water and swim into the hole for a large medipack.

 

Pull up to the south-west corner and save the game. Jump forward to use the floor lever and you catch fire. Use the small medipacks while you back flip twice and fall into the water to put out the flames. These medipacks are cheap and only restore thirty percent of your health. Pull up to the north shore and go to the rock in the north-east corner. Climb the rock and run and jump to grab the bridge. Pull up and go west over the bridge to the water pool. Go to the open door. Step forward to get the green gem and you catch on fire. Use your last large medipack as you back flip and roll into the water to put out the fire. Dive back into the deep pool and pull up to the north shore. Look on the north wall for a receptacle. Place the green gem and use the corner block to get back onto the bridge. The door in the east wall is open.

 

Slide down the slope and onto the floor. There are no spikes yet but do kill an attacking monkey. Go south and pull up into an opening in the upper east wall to get secret #5. Kill the snake and pick up a much-needed small medipack. Get down and go to the south wall. Pull out the short red-brick block and push it into the east corner. Enter the opening and pull down the wall switch. Exit and get pass the spikes and wall darts.  Enter the open door in the upper north-east corner. Pull down the wall switch and return to the south wall opening. The east wall is open. You have to run and jump to the east ledge and clear two spike traps, a slope and a moving spike bag. You have to be lucky here. When you are in the position so that you can jump, you cannot see where the spike bag is located. Once on the east ledge, press the wall button and an earthquake happens. Time another jump back and be careful of the spikes as you go back to the first room. The door in the south-west corner is open.

 

Go there and pull up onto the block. Follow the north crawl space to the end. Notice the spider in the web on the north wall. The wall is climbable but just safety drop into the water below. Swim down into a vertical shaft at the east wall. Then swim down the south tunnel. Swim to the end and turn to the right. Be careful of the swinging blades as you pull up onto a ledge. Kill another annoying monkey. Turn and face north to see a deep hole to the left of the swinging blades. Dive into the hole for secret #6 and the grenade gun (Lanzagranadas). There are two wall switches on the south wall. Approach the right wall switch and side jump to the left to avoid a falling ball. When the ball stops, you can still get behind the ball to pull down the right wall switch. Then pull down the left wall switch.

 

Go back to the water. Swim near the surface to avoid the swinging blades. Swim east through the open gates. Then swim up the vertical shaft and pull up into a small room. Ahead are a door and two buttons. Run towards the door and the level changes.

 

Level 2: Ruinas del Templo Perdido

 

The level starts with you in the same room and you have full health again. Pick up a PDA from the ground that tells you the mission. It has the same mission statement as the previous PDA. If you return to the water behind you, you will see that the gates are closed. Go north to press the two buttons to open the door. Enter a small room and hop onto the blocks in the north-west corner. Pull up to a crawl space and follow it to the west.  Stand up and run down a tunnel and enter a crawl space in the north wall. Note that Lara cannot enter a crawl space if she has a flare in her hand. Throw the flare away and then Lara can crouch into the crawl space. On the other side of the crawl space, safety drop into a tunnel. Go north and face a deep pit. Stand to the right side of the ledge. Run, jump, and no grab and you should land on the ledge to the north. Run and jump over another pit. Follow the tunnel to enter a small room.

 

Pull out the short red-brick block from the north-west corner. Go through a short crawl space and into a small room. Go to the west wall and jump up to grab the ceiling. Monkey swing into the opening in the south wall.  As soon as you clear the slope in the south tunnel, release and drop into a tunnel. Follow the tunnel to pull up into a large room. There are three closed gates in the south wall. Go east and pull down the wall switch. Then go west and pull down the wall switch and the door opens beside you. Go down the steps and jump over the gap. Jump to grab the east wall ladder and climb down into a pit. The camera view changes and you see a spike wall. Run north and the spike wall starts. About the third tile from the end, crouch and crawl into a crawl space in the east wall. It is hard to see because of the camera angle. Go to the end to kill a snake. Pull down the wall switch and you hear spikes. Crawl out and jump over the spikes on the floor. Pick up a large medipack near the south wall. Climb the ladder back up and shimmy to the left into the tunnel. Do not save the game in the pit. If you reload, the spike wall restarts at the south end again.

 

Now return to the room. Go south and enter the open gate. At the end, pull down the wall switch and return to the room. Go east and the large gate is open. Jump over a hole to the back of the opening. You get secret #7 and red shotgun shells.  Return to the hole and the east wall is climbable. Climb down and drop into a small room. Kill the monkey and dive into the water in the triangular hole in the middle of the room. Swim down to see a large structure. Swim into the hole in the top of the structure. Swim to the bottom and pick up an Item Piece. Then swim back to the room for air. Dive in again and swim east over the structure. Swim down the east side of the structure and swim into a crawl space at the bottom. Swim into a room and pick up another Item Piece from the bottom corner. Then swim back up for air. When you entered the crawl space you got a cut scene of a wall and hear a blade clanking.

 

Go to the north wall and combine the two pieces. Insert the item into the receptacle. Climb the ladder and return to the upper room. The second gate in the south wall is open. Enter the gate and pull down the wall switch. Exit back to the room and go west. The last gate in the south wall is open. Enter the open gate and turn to the right for a small medipack. Go to the south wall and slide down the slope backwards. Grab the edge, and release to drop onto another slope. You finally get to the ground. Go west and see a lava pit. Grab the crevice on the north wall and shimmy to the left to get over the lava.

 

Go west and see blue shotgun shells by the west wall. Pick up the shells up and go to the south-east corner. Safety drop to the ground and enter a large cave. Go east and enter another cave and kill a monkey. Go to the north-east and pick up red shotgun shells and a small medipack that are hidden in the bush. Go south to exit the cave. Turn to the east and shoot two tigers. Continue east to a large tree. Turn to the north to see a closed gate and shoot another monkey. Return to the large tree and climb the south side of the tree. Near the top, shimmy to the left around to the north side of the tree. You drop on a small branch.  Walk on the leaves to the left and find a wall switch on the tree. Pull down the wall switch and the gate opens. Safety drop to the ground and go north to the open gate.

 

Enter and face a dark slope. Run down the slope and up the other side. Slide down a steep slope and enter an outdoor area. There is a vehicle in the north-east corner. From the vehicle, go south and pick up the vehicle keys in the bush beside a tall tree. Get on the vehicle and follow the path. Enter the doorway and use the ramp to jump over a large pit. Stop on the other side and get off the vehicle. Enter the north tunnel on foot and follow it to the column over a second pit. Drop to the west side of the column and onto a ledge. You get secret #8 and a small medipack. The flares do not work unless you throw them. Go to the north-east corner of the pit and drop to a lower ledge. Jump to the west to a lower ledge. Safety drop down to the pit floor.

 

There is a closed gate in the east wall. Go to the south-west corner of the pit. There is a dark tunnel leading to the south and into the first pit. Enter the first pit and go to the middle of the west wall to pick up a small medipack from the floor. There is a closed gate in the north-west corner. Go south and pull down a wall switch. Return to the second pit and go to the open gate in the east wall. Climb a ladder and go to the end of the tunnel. Press the button on the wall and get a cut scene showing an opening gate. Return back to the first pit and to the open gate in the north-west corner. Just enter the gate and save the game. As you go forward into the gate, several moving pillars start to move.

 

The first two pillars are easy to get pass by simple stand jumps. The next section has three pillars to pass. Notice that the middle pillar is delayed compared to the other two pillars. Stand at the east wall. Do two stand jumps without stopping in the north-west direction. Jump when the first pillar goes pass you to the right. It required many tries to get the timing right. You get to the first jump point before the middle pillar arrives there. Then the second jump gets you pass the last pillar as well. Now kill two tigers before they push you back into the pillars.

 

Continue to the west and an earthquake starts. Jump to a semi-invisible floating platform. Jump two more platforms to the north as spikes pop up below you. You enter a doorway over a lava pit and the earthquake stops. Jump west to a floating platform. Then jump two more platforms to reach a west wall opening. Turn to the left so that you slide down the slope backwards. You catch an edge and release to slide down into a room. You get a very long flyby showing you a green gem on a pedestal. There are wall darts and a spike trap in front of the pedestal. Go to the west wall and follow a corridor behind the columns. At the end, jump at an angle to the upper north-west block to avoid a rolling ball. Go east and jump over a small blade trap. You reach the pedestal and pick up La Gema de Smaith.

 

Go east into the corner behind a pillar and turn south to pull up onto a block. Run and jump over a floor blade to grab a wall ladder. Climb to the top and pull up. Jump over two gaps and at the end turn to the left. Climb the wall ladder and pull up into a tunnel. You can see the daylight in a crawl space at the end of the tunnel. Run towards the crawl space and the level ends.
