The compass directions seem reversed. If you face north, you turn left to face
east, while normally you turn left to face west. However, I always give
directions according to where the red compass needle points. [End note 1]

This level is very dark. Play the level in a dark room, as any ambient light
will make it almost impossible to see anything. [End note 2]
You start in a very dark room. Run south off the
ledge and land on a platform above a deep dark room. You can use pistols to
shoot two rats on the floor. Run and jump to the
south to land on another platform. Go to the west wall and pick up a small medipack. Safety drop into the room and shoot
the rats if you missed them from above. You can see a dark tunnel in the south
wall. Light a flare and you can see a jump switch on the south-west column.
Pull out the movable block from the north-east column and move it under the
jump switch. You can climb on the block and pull down the jump switch. Enter
the south tunnel and run through the open door at the end. Continue south and
get a flyby of the next area. You are on a ledge over a water pool.
Go south and jump a gap to land on the next ledge.
You can peer into the darkness and see two ledges with closed doors at the west
wall. In the south wall is a dark tunnel with a closed door. Go to the south
end of the current ledge and look down to the south-east. You can see a place to pull up out of the
water. Dive into the water and pull up onto the east ledge. Turn around and
shoot the crocodile in the water. Go to the
north-east corner of the room and pick up secret #1
and a large medipack. Go to the south-west
corner of the room and pick up Uzi ammo. Go to
the south-east corner of the room and finally pick up flares.
Dive into the water and pull down the right
underwater lever on the east wall. You get a cut scene of a rope. Pull down the
left underwater lever on the east wall. You get a cut scene of a door opening
on the upper ledges. Swim behind the north pillar and get a large medipack from the bottom of the pool. Go east
again and pull up onto the ledge. Look east to see an alcove with a fire and
two receptacles on the walls. Run around the edge of the water pool and go to
the west wall and enter the dark tunnel. Run up a ramp to the end next to a
V-shaped slope. Quickly turn and run
down the ramp and run to one side to avoid two spike balls rolling after you.
Return to the end V-shaped slope and jump up to grab the east wall above your
head. Climb up the wall and pull up into a dark tunnel. There is a lower crawl
space in the north-east corner. Follow the very dark crawl space to the end.
Stand up and pull down a wall switch on the south wall. The door at the east
end of the tunnel opens.
Go through the door and you are on a high ledge
over the room with the pool. The door closes behind you. Shoot a bat that starts to attack you. You may be able to see
a vertical line to the south-east. That is the rope from the underwater lever.
Look down and see two dark ledges to the south. Run and jump onto the first
ledge. Go to the center of the first ledge and safety drop onto a lower ledge.
Go west and through the open door from the other underwater lever. At the end
of the tunnel you see a water tunnel with spikes. The hole below you is deadly.
Run off the edge at an angle to get into the north tunnel. Swim to the top of
the tunnel and you are safe from the spikes. You will need to use a large
medipack to survive. Follow the tunnel and swim through a crawl space.
At the end, pull up onto a ledge. You enter a large
room with many spikes and fires on the tops of columns. Hop onto the slope at
the south side of the shortest column. The fire goes out so pull up onto the
column. Run and jump to grab the column at the north wall. Pull up and the fire
goes out. Run and jump to land the column near the east wall and the fire goes
out. Run and jump to grab the tunnel in the east wall. Pull up into the tunnel
and go forward a little and see a swinging blade. Pass the blade on the right
side and stop for a second blade. Pass this blade on the left side and use a
flare to see a moveable block. Pull the block back and the swinging blade will
miss your butt.
Stand on the block and pull up into the tunnel
above you to the west. You face two sets of wall blades. Face the south wall
and side jump to get over the first set of blades. The side tunnels have
rolling spike balls at the top. You can try to hop backwards up the south
tunnel to dislodge the spike ball and run down to avoid it. But I always got
killed so I just forgot about it. Even if you make it, the spike ball blocks
the tunnel so that you cannot get back into it to search for anything. Go up
the north tunnel. As usual, hop backwards and when the screen shakes, run down
the slope. At the bottom, turn to the right and stand in the safe corner spot
of the floor blades. The rolling spike ball should hopefully miss you. Do not
enter the south tunnel. If you do, the spike ball stops and prevents you from
getting out of the tunnel. Go up to the top of the north tunnel and pull up
into an upper south tunnel. Pick up the Eye of Neptune
from the pedestal. Return to the blades again. Stand facing the south wall and
side jump over the blades to the right.
Drop from the block and go around the swing blades again. Return to the
room with the spikes and go back to the entrance at the south wall.
Pull down the jump switch on the south wall. Enter
the left tunnel for a large medipack and jump
over a spike trap. Follow the tunnel to an open door. Jump over the water
tunnel with the spikes and go back to the room with the water pool. Dive into
the water pool and pull up onto the east ledge again. Go east into the alcove
and place the Eye of Neptune in the right receptacle. You get a cut scene of a
door opening on ledge above. Go into the west tunnel and climb the wall again
at the V-shaped slope. Shoot another bat (that I
may have missed the first trip up the wall). Follow the crawl space back to
wall switch and return to the high ledge again. Run and jump to the lower ledge
to the south. Go south and jump a gap to the second ledge. Safety drop onto the
ledge below and enter the open door.
Shoot a bat and
enter a dark tunnel. Walk forward and get a cut scene of a door opening and a
wall switch. If you run, you may miss the cut scene, as it is very dark. Turn
around and return to the ledge over the water pool. Run and jump to grab the
ledge to the east. Shoot a bat and go south and
jump another gap. Go to the end of the dark south wall tunnel and pull down the
wall switch. Return to the water pool room and notice the fire in the east wall
alcove is out. Jump the ledge and return to the tunnel. Continue walking west until you stop. Turn
around and climb down a ladder to drop onto a slope.
Slide down the slope and stop at the edge of a deep
room. Run and jump south to grab a ledge. Pull up and look at the south wall.
You can see two jump switches at the end of a breakable tile run. Stand in
front of the west column. Stand jump onto the second breakable tile and then
stand jump to grab the jump switch. Pull it down and fall to the floor. Go
south and see a movable block near the fires. Be careful of the fires, as some
ceiling falls on you if you run over the fire tiles. Move the block north and
east away from the fire. Place it in line with a block on the south side of the
structure. Hop onto the central gap and move a second movable block from the
east side to the west side of the gap. Move the second block onto the first
block. Jump onto the second block and pull up to the ledge for the second jump
switch. Stand in front of the east column. Stand jump onto the second breakable
tile and then stand jump to grab the jump switch. Pull it down and fall to the
floor. Go to the open door in the south-east corner of the room. That is to the
right side of the jump switch. Pick up the Eye of
Neptune from the floor.
Climb the moveable blocks back to the top ledge of
the central structure. Run and jump back to the entrance tunnel in the north
wall. The slope has changed to steps. Go up the steps and climb the wall back
into the tunnel. Return to the water
pool room and dive into the water. Pull up to the east again and enter the east
wall alcove. The fire is still out so place the Eye of Neptune in the receptacle.
You get a cut scene of another rope. Go into the east tunnel and climb the wall
again at the V-shaped slope. Follow the crawl space back to wall switch and
return to the high ledge. Shoot another bat.
[Optional] Go east and run and jump to grab a
crevice. Shimmy to the left and pull up into an alcove for Uzi ammo.
Dive into the water pool and return to the upper ledge again. I could
not reach the rope from the ledge. [End optional]
Run and jump to grab the rope to the
south-east. Swing onto the ledge at the
east wall. Follow the ledge and run and jump to grab the second rope to the
south-west. Swing into the nearest right side tunnel in the south wall. Run
down the tunnel ramp and get a flyby of the next area. Go to the bottom of the
ramp and into the dark room. Go west and north up the ramp in the second
tunnel. Go to the top for secret #2, two Uzi ammo and Uzi's.
Go south back to the room. Cross the water and stop before the deep pit.
Run and jump over the pit and pull up onto the
south ledge. Go south and shoot the two knights
that attack. Be careful not to fall off the ledge as you jump around and shoot.
In the south wall corners are two wall switches. You can see an area of spikes
in the middle of the south wall. Pull down the south-west wall switch and go to
the ledge in front of the spikes. You can see an open door in the far south
room over the spikes. Then go to the other corner and pull down the south-east
wall switch. This stops a fire at a switch you cannot see yet. Now go to the
platform in front of the spikes.
You need at least a large medipack available to
continue. Just run onto the spikes and sprint through the spikes and stop on
the ledge before the deep pit at the end. You have to take a large medipack
near the middle to survive. Hit the ESC key and select the large medipack from
the menu. If you use the #9 key, the medipack is gone but you get no benefit
from it. I think that is a bug in the original game engine if you only have one
medipack left to use.
Run and jump the gap to the next central ledge.
Jump to the south-west corner ledge and pick up the Scroll
of the Gods from the pedestal. Return to the central ledge and hop onto
the alcove in the west wall. There would be a fire here if you did not use the
wall switch in the outer room. Pull down the wall switch and return to the
central ledge. Jump onto the south-east corner ledge and pull up into a tunnel.
Follow the tunnel through the open door. Run into the dark section of the
tunnel and the level ends.
