Ice Cave

You start with a flyby showing Lara falling down into the cave and getting up on the ice. Go south and crouch down to pick up a large medipack. The closed gates at the west wall need an item. There are closed gates in the south-east corner. Get onto the left slope at the east wall. Use LOOK to reset the camera view. You can see a snowflake to the south-east in the opening. However, you cannot get it from here. In the north-east corner are blue bars. Turn to the west you can see two icicles. One on the floor and one on the ceiling and they do not seem to meet. However, that is a climbing pole. Climb the icicles and back flip onto a north ledge. Go to the east wall and pick up flares. Go to the west wall and pick up a large medipack.

Go to the edge beside a sloped block and look up to the east. You should see a column and three icicles. Run and jump to grab the middle icicle. Climb up and back flip onto a north slope. You can see a key lock and a closed gate to your left. Shoot the blue crystals under to the key lock. The crystals shatter and you can pick up the laser sight. Run and jump onto the breakable tile to the south-west. Run with a left curve over the tile and jump onto the safe ledge to the south. There are two rooms ahead of you. The first room is on your immediate left. The second room is ahead of you.

Enter the second room and see two closed gates. One gate is at the east wall. The other gate is in the south wall. There are two dark fancy tiles on the floor. One tile is in the south-east corner. The second tile is in the north-east corner. Step on both timed tiles and the gate opens at the east wall. Run through the open gate into a small room. There is another closed gate for later. Pull down the wall switch in the north-east corner. Exit the room and return to the ledge where you started. Notice that a block has dropped in a wall. Go east into the first room and see a moveable snow block in the north wall. It appears a dark blue if you use the binoculars. Pull the block out and push the block to the west as far as possible. Stand on that block and pull down the jump switch on the north wall. You get a cut scene of the blue bars descending on the ground level.

Go to the north ledge and safety drop onto the floor below. Safety drop again to the ground floor. Go to the north-east corner and enter the room. Shoot the blue crystals and pick up the revolver. Climb the icicles again to the second floor. Climb the other icicles and back flip to the ledge next to a key lock. Use the revolver and laser sight to shoot a ball from the mouth of a lion statue in the upper north-east corner. It can be hard to see because of the icicles that get in the way. The door to the east opens. A second door to the south-east also opens.

Go east into the corridor. You see a closed gate and a receptacle in a cage. Go south and see the second open gate. This leads back to the ledge where you were earlier. Go north and west into a dark corridor. Use a flare and go west. You find a timed wall switch. Pull down the wall switch and you get a cut scene of a gate opening. Wait until the wall switch resets and pull down the wall switch again. Turn to the left and run east and south. Run and jump out the second open gate. Run west and turn to the left and run through the timed gate in the south wall. Sprint is useful on the last part of the run. Enter the room and the door stays open. You get secret #1 when you pick up the Golden Star from the pedestal. You get a cut scene of a cage dropping somewhere.

Exit the room and go east into a room that you entered earlier. There is a closed gate at the north wall. That gate is timed, of course. Return back to the dark corridor of the timed wall switch. Go to the end and save the game in front of another timed wall switch. This controls the closed gate that you just saw. Pull down the wall switch and sprint down the dark corridor. Now run as before towards the first timed door. This time continue east into the room and then north through the hopefully open gate. Enter carefully so that you do not fall down the hole in the floor. Climb down the east wall and drop into the area below.

Hop onto the blocks to the west and pick up revolver ammo. The fires are harmless. You can see that you are on the other side of the second floor area. Go west and pick up the hard-to-see snowflake #1 from the floor in front of the tree. You get a cut scene of the receptacle in the cage. Go east into a corridor. You see more cages. Pick up flares from a pedestal. Go behind the pedestal and pull down the wall switch. You get a cut scene of a closed gate. Go east and pick up a stone from the pedestal. The east gate is still closed. Go west and hop onto the ledges with the fires. Run onto the north snowy slope and slide down. Grab the edge and safety drop to the ground floor. You will take damage.

Go west and place the stone in the receptacle to the left of the closed gates. Enter the gates and pick up the Key from the pedestal. Go to the south-west corner where you see a dark fancy tile. Run through the south wall into a small room. You get secret #2 when you pick up the Golden Star from the pedestal. You get a cut scene of a cage dropping. You know where the cages are located. Exit back to the pedestal. Use the revolver and laser sight to shoot a ball from the mouth of a lion statue in the dark upper north-west corner. You get a cut scene of a cage dropping somewhere. Exit the room and use the icicles again to get back onto the ledge next to the key lock.

Place the key in the key lock. You get a cut scene of a snowball falling and breaking the ice on the ground floor. Dive into the water and swim south. Pull down the underwater lever and get a cut scene of gates opening somewhere. A cage has also risen in the north-west corner of the pool. Swim into a triangular crawl space at the bottom of the north wall. Swim north and east to a T-junction. Swim into the right branch and loop around to the left. Pick up snowflake #2 from the floor. You get a cut scene of the receptacle in the cage. Swim back and swim north to follow the underwater tunnel. You surface in a large room.

Swim north and notice a place for a block to the left of a column. Swim north and pick up flares from the floor. Swim west and notice another block position on the floor. Swim south and into a crawl space in the west wall. Pull down an underwater lever on the back wall. Swim out and swim back to the column and a block has risen beside it. Pull up onto the ledge and go south. Pull down the wall switch and dive back into the water. Swim north and around the corner and notice that a block has risen in the water. Get onto the block and climb up the wall. Shimmy to the right and drop onto a breakable ledge. Side jump to the right and land on a safe ledge.

Crawl under the large icicle and go south. Pick up snowflake #3 from the floor. You get a cut scene of the receptacle in the cage. Enter the east alcove and pick up Star Piece 1 from the pedestal. Dive into the water and swim to the south-east corner. Follow the underwater tunnel back to the pool in the starting room. Pull up onto the raised cage. Jump south to the tree and then east over the snowy slope. Enter the open doors in the south-east corner.

You enter a room with three large wall buttons. First pull out a snow block from the west wall. Move the snow block into the north-east corner of the room. Hop onto the block and pull up into a triangular crawl space. On the other side, climb down the wall and into a tunnel. Go north and shoot a grate in the north wall. Drop into the hole and pull up into the alcove behind the broken grate. You get secret #3 when you pick up the Golden Star from the pedestal. You get a cut scene of a cage dropping. You know where the cages are located. Drop back into the hole and pull up into the opening in the upper west wall. Crawl south and pick up snowflake #4 from the floor. You get a cut scene of the receptacle in the cage. Drop into the starting room and go south to the room with the three large wall buttons.

The buttons have colors associated with them. The green button is in the south-west corner. The red button is to the left of the room entrance. The blue button is in the north-west corner to the right of the room entrance. Press the buttons in the order of green, red, and blue. The right side gate will open in the east wall. Enter the open gate and run to the end of the alcove. The gate closes behind you. Pull up into the south wall opening and exit back into the room. Press the buttons in the order of blue, red, and green. The left side gate will open in the east wall. Enter the gate and pick up Star Piece 2 from the pedestal. Hop into the back alcove and pick up snowflake #5 from the floor. You get a cut scene of the receptacle in the cage. The cage is dropping around the receptacle.

Exit the room and use the icicles again to get back to the ledge with the key lock. Go east to the receptacle but do not use it yet. Go south-west and jump over the gap. Follow around the ledge to the open gate with the hole in the floor. The gate is still open so you do not need to do the timed run again. Climb down the wall and go into the east corridor. The other two cages are down. Pick up a small medipack from the pedestal in the first left alcove. Pull down the wall switch behind the pedestal. You get a cut scene of a closed gate. Pick up revolver ammo from the pedestal in the second left alcove. Pull down the wall switch behind the pedestal. You get a cut scene of an opening gate. Go east into the open gate. Pick up a large medipack and a small medipack from the pedestals. Exit the room and go west. Climb the wall and back flip into the small room. Exit this area and jump the gap again to return to the receptacle.

Combine the Star Pieces to make the Star. Place the Star in the receptacle and the gates open. There is Christmas music playing. Run out the open gates and into the trees to end the level.
