[Note] I
ran the author’s executable file to put the contents on a removable USB flash
drive. I said NO to adding any icons and shortcuts to my system. I do not want
that crap. Then I copied the files to where they should be located. I ran the
RUN_ENGLISH_EASY.BAT and the game starts after hitting “continue” on the DOS
window a few times. This walkthrough is for the easy version. I do not know the
differences between the versions. [End note]
Level 1:
Horizon of Peru
You start with a very long flyby around a valley
and end at Lara. Go south-east and jump over a gap. Go to the east end of the
ledge. Stand at the protruding north-east corner and safety drop on the north
edge. You will lose a little health. If you drop anywhere else, you end up on
an illegal slope and need to reload. Run to the north-west and find an ice
ladder on the west side of the cliff. Climb down onto a block. Hop back and
slide down the slope. You land on secret #1
and pick up blue shotgun shells. Go south to
the snow hill in the middle of the pit. Face north and run and jump onto a
block at the east wall. Run and jump onto the block at the ice ladder. Climb
the ice ladder back up to the top of the cliff.
Go east and pull up onto the higher ledge. Shoot two bats and continue east to a place where you can
legally stand up behind the dark central structure in the middle. Stand jump to
the south and grab the edge of the black column at the east wall. Pull up and
the camera view changes to annoying. Hit the LOOK key to get a normal view. Run
and jump with no grab to land on the black central structure to the north-west.
Run and jump to grab the edge of the light column to the north. Stand jump onto
the higher north ledge. Go west around the dark blocks and pick up the Lost Element off the ledge. Turn around and look to
the south-east to see that a rope has dropped. Go to the south-east corner of
the ledge and run and jump to grab the rope. Twist around and swing on the rope
to the south-west. Release and drop onto the ledge at the south wall.
Go west back to the staring position. Go north and
jump around a sloping ledge. You can see a rope in a cave to the north. Go north to the cave entrance and shoot a bat. Stop there and drop down from the east side of
the ledge onto a lower ledge. Go west into the corner for secret #2 and blue shotgun
shells. You can climb down into the lower pit but I found nothing. Climb
up back into the upper ledge. Continue north and follow the ledge into a cave
and onto a bridge near a rope. Shoot a bat and
pick up a small medipack at the east wall.
Stand at the south side of the bridge and stand jump to grab the rope. Swing to
the north and release to land of a ledge. Go north to the receptacle and be
careful of three rolling spike balls. Place the Lost Element in the receptacle
and the gate opens in the east wall behind you.
You enter a room with four closed timed gates. Go
north onto a fancy tile and shoot three bats. A
timed gate opens in the south wall. Run through the timed open gate and the
gate closes behind you. Save the game. Use the floor lever and hop onto the
different looking corner tile to open the gate again. Exit the room, turn to
the right, and sprint into the next timed open gate. Save the game. Use the floor lever and turn around. The
gate opens as you approach it. Sprint into the open gate in the north-east
corner. You get secret #3. Roll and quickly
sprint out of the alcove. There is nothing to pick up but the gate will close
and leave you inside with no choice but to reload.
Step on the fancy tile to open the first gate
again. Reset the floor lever and wait and look at it. It will return to the
used position by itself. Step on the corner tile again and just run over the
floor lever tile to open the second gate. Exit and sprint back into the earlier
room. Reset the floor lever and wait until it moves by itself. Hop onto the
floor lever tile and run out the gate as it opens. Run and jump onto the north
ledge. Jump with grab to glide into the open timed gate in the north wall. The
gate closes behind you. Just follow the tunnel and drop onto a ledge near a
deep pit.
Go west to the end of the ledge. Stand jump into a
hole in the south-west corner. Grab the south wall and climb down to the lower
ledge. Go to the east end and enter a south tunnel. Run to the end for secret #4 and blue shotgun
shells. Return to the south-west corner and climb the south wall again.
Shimmy to the left and release to slide down onto the upper ledge. When I did a
back flip, I always went off the ledge. Go east back to the ledge entrance. Run
and jump to the lower north ledge with the pole. Stand by the pole and wait to
shoot two bats. Climb the pole and back flip
onto the higher north ledge. Use the binoculars and look up to the north and see
many spike balls.
Jump onto the north-east corner ledge and avoid a
spike ball. Run and jump onto a ledge to the west. Avoid a spike ball by
jumping off and do the first two ledges again. Jump up onto a higher north
ledge. Go onto the east ledge and avoid a spike ball. Run and jump west onto a
ledge and jump off to avoid a spike ball. Do the route again and finally run
onto the ledge at the west wall. Other spike balls may have fallen. Climb up
and pull up onto the higher west ledge. Go to the north end and pull up into a
higher east tunnel. Follow the tunnel and enter a very large snow cavern.
Go east over the cavern floor and climb the block
blocks to pull up onto a snowy ledge. You can see a cave in the upper west
wall. Go south a see a blue ice wall that is climbable. Slide down the east
slope to the bottom. Look up to the west and see a rope. Use the blue ice wall
to climb back up to the top of the slope. Climb the snowy blocks and stand jump
to grab the rope. Swing west and into the cave. You get secret #5 but there is nothing to pick up. Ignore the rope and
run and jump with grab to land on the lower snowy ledge to the left of the
snowy blocks. You will lose about half of your health. You land near where you
pull up from the lower area earlier. Go east and slide down the slope again. Go
to the east side and climb down a long blue ice wall. When the area gets
darker, stop occasionally and you can see a ledge behind you. Back flip into
the dark alcove for secret #6. Again there is
nothing to pick up. Jump back to grab the blue ice wall and climb to the
bottom.
Enter the tunnel in the south wall. You reach a
T-junction. Go left and sprint down the north tunnel. At the end, turn left to
avoid the rolling spike ball behind you. Go north-east towards a pole and shoot
two bats. Climb the pole and back flip onto a
high ledge. Get onto the stepped snowy platform near the pole and pull up onto
a higher north ledge. Climb the columns to the west. On the last column, turn
to the east and run and jump onto a ledge. Go to the block at the end and pull
up onto the ledge in front of a temple. You get a flyby and a speech.
Go up the block steps at the south wall. Turn
around and run and jump onto the archway. Go north to the top of the archway
and run and jump onto the temple roof to the east. Use the floor lever and you
get a cut scene of the temple doors opening. Safety drop to the ground. Enter
the open doors and the camera view changes. Shoot four
dogs that attack. Run to the east into the dark tunnel and the doors
close. Continue east and the level changes
Level 2:
The City of Vilcabama
You start with a flyby and hear the dogfight behind
the closed doors. Then you are standing in front of the closed doors. Turn
around and face east into the dark tunnel. Run to the end and go south over
some fancy floor tiles. Continue south and just sprint through the wall darts.
You find a closed gate in the south wall. Go west down a slope and dive into
the water at the west wall. Swim to the bottom and then swim east. There are
three ceiling holes above you.
In the first ceiling hole is a tunnel blocked by a
closed gate. Behind the gate you can see red shotgun shells. I returned here
several times and never found a way to open the gate. I suspect that this area
may be a secret because the other shotgun shells were secrets. But I never
opened the gate so I am not sure.
In the second or middle ceiling hole is an
underwater tunnel. Follow the underwater tunnel to pull up into a small room
with two wide closed gates. Behind one gate is a floor lever. Behind the other
gate is a downward slope.
Swim up into the third ceiling hole. Pull up out of
the water and look east into a long cave. Go east and shoot two bats. Go to the end you can see some sloped rocks.
Go around the rocks and turn to the north. Enter the dark corridor and shoot two dogs. At the end is a deep pit. Return to the
sloped rocks. Stand jump onto the sloped rocks. Run and jump to grab a crevice
on the east wall. Shimmy to the left over the dark corridor and the deep pit.
Safety drop at the end onto a safe ledge. Turn around and go to the west ledge
of the pit. Climb down the wall section with the dark lines to get to the
bottom of the pit. Go into the shallow water trench in the north-east corner.
You get secret #7 and pick up red shotgun shells. Climb out of the pit. Go north
and use the floor lever. Follow the ledge to the south and pull up into a crawl
space. You can grab the edge and shimmy to the left. Pull up into an alcove but
the gate is closed. Safety drop to the ground.
Go south and west back to the water hole. Swim west
and up to get back to water hole where you entered the water. Go up the slope
and enter the open gate in the south wall. Use the floor lever and get a cut
scene of the gate opening in the alcove where you dropped. Notice the closed
gate in the east wall. Exit the room and go back into the water. Swim up into
the third hole again. Again get onto the sloped rocks and jump to grab the
crevice. Shimmy to the left and drop down again. Go back to the exit and pull
up into the crawl space again. Grab the edge and shimmy to the left again. Drop
down in front of the open gate.
Follow the tunnel to a large room. Go west onto a
ledge and see a very deep multi-layer pit. There is a closed gate in the north
wall. Go there and run and jump to the ledge to the west. Stand jump over the
slope and jump to the slope in the corner. Slide down and jump to grab the
ledge to the south. Turn around and shoot a bat
near the north wall. Stand jump over the south slope. Jump forward with a left
curve to land on the lower ledge. Shoot two bats.
Climb the east wall and back flip onto the top of the column behind you. You
get secret #8 but there is nothing to pick up.
Safety drop back onto the lower ledge.
Stand jump to the east ledge. Safety drop to the
bridge below you. You land on a fancy tile that opens a timed door to the
south. Run north through the open timed door. Run down the tunnel and the door
opens as you approach. You emerge on a ledge over a flooded room and the door
closes behind you. Dive into the water and avoid the center of the pool, as a
sink sucks you down to the bottom to drown. Swim into the lower north-east
tunnel. Follow the tunnel to a room with columns. Pull up anywhere and go up
the steps at the north wall. Use the floor lever and swim back to the room
where you entered. The water level has been raised. Swim up to the surface and
pull up onto the north ledge.
Go to the back wall and use the floor lever. You
get a cut scene of a gate opening near some water. Get into the water and pull
up onto the south-east ledge. Follow the tunnel and the gate opens as you
approach. Exit back onto the ledge where you started. Go east and drop into the
dark corridor. Go south and west and get back into the water hole. Swim west
and swim up into the middle ceiling hole. Follow the underwater tunnel and pull
up into the room with the open gate. Use the floor lever and dive back into the
water. Swim west and swim up to surface.
Pull up and go up the hill to the open gate in the south wall again. The
gate in the east wall is now open.
Enter the small room and see a closed gate in the
east wall. Use the floor lever and you can hear a gate open. Exit the room and
go west to the water hole. Dive in and swim east. Swim up the middle ceiling
hole. Follow the underwater tunnel back to the room that you left earlier. Now
the gate is open in the east wall. Notice the spike balls on the ceiling.
Sprint down the slope and turn left at the bottom. Run into the side tunnel to
avoid the spike balls. Follow the tunnel to a ledge over a deep pit. Jump over
the gap top the east. Follow the tunnel and go past a closed gate. Run over the
bridge and follow the ledge and enter a tunnel. Follow the tunnel and the level
changes.
Turn around and go west. You enter a room with a
pit and bridges. Go north and enter the tunnel. Follow the tunnels and ledges
around to enter a room with a deep pit. Use the rope to swing over the deep
pit. Run north down the steps and enter a large alcove. Use the floor lever and
exit. Go up the steps and swing over the deep pit again. Follow the ledges
around again to the room entrance. Safety drop into the pit. Go west and north
to find a floor lever. Use the floor lever and climb the steps back up top the
room entrance. Go east into the exit tunnel and the level changes.
Go south and follow the ledges back and see that
the gate is open in the east wall. Follow the tunnel and be careful of wall
darts and fire emitters. Just follow the tunnel to a branch tunnel. There is a
red tunnel to the north and a climbable wall to the west. The climbable wall is
the exit to return back to the water holes. Follow the red tunnel to a ledge
over the deep pit again. Stand jump over the west slope to land on a dark
ledge. Jump up to grab the ceiling and monkey swing north. Safety drop onto the
top of the structure. Follow the steps around the structure and find an opening
in the north wall. Safety drop into a lower room. Go south and you are at the
bottom of the deep pit.
Drop onto the ground and pull up into the room
again. Shoot the ten dogs that you have
awakened. Then go south onto the platform. Use the two floor levers and the
doors open in the south wall. Enter the open doors and run down the tunnel and
the level changes.
Level 3:
The Lost Valley
You start by sliding down a slope and get a flyby
of the area. You are standing near a moveable tower. Pick up the shotgun near your feet. Turn around and go east into the dark cave. Enter the cave far
enough to attract and shoot three bats. Then
return outside back to the moveable tower. Push the moveable tower to the south
and onto a fancy tile. Enter the cave again and shoot a raptor. The raptors are poisonous when they bite. Be careful to not
go to the west as you attract more raptors. Use a flare and go back into the
cave and go south through some open doors. Pick up a large
medipack, Uzi ammo, blue shotgun shells, and the shotgun from the ground.
Return to the moveable tower and push it north onto
a fancy tile. Hop onto the corner block at the north side of the cave entrance.
Stand there and shoot two raptors. Use a flare
and go back into the cave and go south through some open doors. Pick up two large medipacks, two red shotgun shells, and revolver ammo from the ground.
Return to the moveable tower and go west. When you
hear music return back onto the rock at the cave entrance. Turn around and
shoot three raptors. If you find only one
raptor, you will have to get down and go west again to lure the other two
raptors. With one play, there was a funny raptor dying animation. It died, got
up, and died again continuously until I reloaded and killed it again. This
happened for several raptors so save the game before and after each raptor
kill. But it is fun to watch when it happens.
Go west onto the platform. Push the two moveable
towers to the west twice and onto two blue-spotted tiles. Go to either the
north-west or south-west corners and enter the open doors. Follow the tunnel to
a very large outdoor area. Find and shoot the two raptors
running around in this area.
Go to the center of the area and see a pit. To the
east are the moveable towers. Safety drop into the pit and pick up a shotgun. Run and jump east over a spike trap. Climb
the east wall and pull up out of the pit. Follow the south-west tunnel back to
the area on the other side of the pit. Go south and the camera view changes. Go
west to run up some yellow steps and jump onto a column. From there you can
patiently shoot two raptors. Run and jump onto
the ledge to the west. Run and jump to grab the north ledge. Pull up and enter
the tunnel in the north wall.
Follow the tunnel and drop onto a ledge. Run and
jump to the north and land on a lower ledge. Pull up into the tunnel and follow
the tunnel to the roof of the temple. Several places on the roof are spike
traps. I went to the south side and jump the slopes to get to the east side of
the roof. Go south and run and jump onto a south ledge. Cross the bridge and
jump over the gap. Follow the bridge and ledge and jump onto a column. Run and
jump onto the wide ledge. Sprint east and drop and hold the edge as the spiked
wall goes past you. Pull up and go to the south-east corner. Pick up two red shotgun shells and run and jump onto the
structure to the south-east. Go south and jump over the spike pit. Continue
south and jump into the hole in the south wall. You drop into water.
Swim north and follow the underwater tunnel to the
end and swim up. Pull up and go south onto a ledge overlooking the area with
the two moveable towers. Jump onto the roof to the east. Go to the east end of
the roof and jump onto a flat ledge. Run and jump south-east to a lower column.
Grab the edge and shimmy to the right. Pull up onto another column and run and
jump to grab a column to the south. Follow the ledge to the end. Run and jump
to a north ledge for blue shotgun shells and
return. Follow the ledge to the west. Jump a gap and pick up two red shotgun shells. Look south and see a tunnel
with a closed door. That tunnel is for much later. Run and jump the gap to the
bridge to the west. Run and jump to the ledge to the west. Follow the ledge and
tunnel to a ledge overlooking the temple. Run and jump south-west to the roof
of the temple. Stand jump over the slope and onto the flat part of the roof.
Go to the middle of the area and pull down the wall
switch on the south wall. You hear a door open. Safety drop from the roof and
go south into the open doors. Run forward to avoid the two moving spike walls.
Run and jump onto the platform in the water. Pick up Cog
#1 near the south wall. Jump back over the water and exit the temple. Go
north and east down the small corridor to get back to the area with the two
moveable towers on the platform. Be careful in the small corridor, as you can
walk through the south wall and drop into water.
Go east and north into an area with waterfalls.
Dive into a water hole and swim down. Follow the underwater tunnel to the north
and swim up. Pull up into a room. Move the moveable tower onto both of the two
differently colored tiles. Swim back to the waterfalls. Go north-west and
follow the corridor to the area behind the pit again. Go north and see two open
doors in the temple. Enter the left open door and shoot two raptors. Go to the back corner and pull down a wall switch.
Exit the room. Enter the right open door and go to the back corner and pull
down a wall switch. Exit the room. Carefully enter the middle door and run out
again to avoid two rolling balls. Enter the middle door again and pick up Cog #2 off the floor. Exit the room and go south.
There is a large medipack near the east column
as you exit this area. Go east and return to the starting area near the cave.
Now enter the cave and continue to the end. Go
south and emerge on a ledge overlooking a deep cave. Safety drop into the cave
and shoot a raptor. Dive into the water pool and
swim east though the underwater tunnel. Pull up into a small room. Use the
floor lever and the door opens beside you. Exit back into the cave and go to
the open door in the west wall. Save the game. Follow the tunnel until you hear
rolling balls. Run down and exit the tunnel to avoid two rolling balls. Then
enter again and follow the tunnel to the top. You emerge onto a roof.
Follow the south corridor to the end. Jump forward
to grab a crevice and shimmy to the left around the corners. Drop onto a ledge.
Go west and stand jump forward to grab the climbable column under the slope.
Climb down to the ground. Go east to run off the small ledge to get secret #9. Go north and shoot a raptor. Pick up two flares,
large medipack, three red shotgun shells, and two
shotguns. Go back to the climbable column. Climb to the top and back
flip, roll, and grab the ledge. Pull up onto the ledge.
Run and jump to the west onto a slope. Bounce to
the south and grab the crevice. Shimmy to the right and drop onto a safe ledge.
Run and jump to either west ledge. Run and jump to the west. Aim near the wall
so you do not slide down the slope into the pit. Stand jump into the water and
let the water current carry you. Swim round any columns if you get stuck. You
finally fall through a waterfall and drop into a deep water pool. Swim to the
bottom and pick up Cog #3. Pull up onto north
side of the pool. Go north and shoot a raptor,
which was stuck on a bad slope. Go to the east wall and climb the rocky texture
on the north side of a tall column. Pull up onto the top.
Run and jump west and grab onto some steps. Pull up
and follow the steps to the top. Be
careful of a gap near the top area. Jump east to a column. Climb the blocks and
pull up to the south. Go south and east onto a wooden platform. Look to the
north and see the gear train on the wall. Place the three cogs on the three
empty gear posts. Look down to the south-west and see a ledge. Safety drop of
the wooden platform and onto that ledge. Follow the ledges around the water
channel. Save after every move since if you fall into the water, the water
current carries you back to the deep water pool. Eventually you are stopped by
sloped columns. Get into the tunnel in the north wall.
Follow the tunnel and climb the blocks to the east.
You reach a T-junction. Take the south branch and go out onto a wooden bridge.
Run and jump to the structure to the east. Continue jumping to the east ledges.
Jump over two slopes and land on a second wooden bridge. Run and jump the
blocks to the north. Finally run and jump onto the block at the east wall. Pull
down the wall switch. Jump over the blocks again to return to the second wooded
bridge. Go to the south end and stand at the east side. Hop back and delay the
grab so that you land on the ledge below you. Back flip and land on a sloped
column. Slide down and grab the edge. Pull up, back flip, roll, and grab the
ledge that is hidden behind the waterfall. Pull up for secret
#10 but there is nothing to pick up. Drop into the water and let the
water current carry you back to the deep water pool.
Pull on the east side and save the game. A room has appeared behind the waterfall.
Stand jump into the room from the shore at the corners. If you pull up from the
water, the game goes crazy and you have to reload. Pull down the wall switch at
the south wall. Hop back out of the way of the moving spike wall. Dive into the
water and swim north. Pull up on the north side and shoot a human enemy. Climb the east wall column as before.
Continue the same path to get to the gear train. Jump the water ledges to get
back to the tunnel. Go to the T-junction and take the north branch. Just follow
the tunnel and slide down a slope at the end. You are in a room with many
columns. Go north-west and north back to the area with the two moveable towers
on the platform.
Go to the south-west corridor and go up the yellow
steps again. Follow the same route as before through the tunnel and the slopes
on the temple roof. Follow the ledges and broken bridges to drop into the
water. Follow the underwater tunnel again. Run and jump onto the roof. Jump to
the ledge and the lower column again. Shimmy to the right and pull up onto a
column. Run and jump south to a column. Follow the ledges and jump the gap.
Follow the ledge to the tunnel but now the door is open. You exited from the water area by the tunnel
in the lower south-west. I never found a shortcut route to get back to this
upper ledge from that tunnel. Enter the tunnel and see a helicopter at the end.
Run towards the helicopter and the level ends.
