[Note]  This initially was released on 25-aug-2008. Two days later there was another release on 27-aug-2008.  The second level fixes some bugs but not all, I guess. The author and others in the TRLE forum mentioned that you have to use the DOZY cheat to finish to get around the bugs in the game.  I will note when I had to use the cheat. [End note]

 

[Note 2] When you get the shotgun, save the shotgun ammo for the second level. Use the pistols to shoot all enemies in both levels as much as possible. You need to use the shotgun and the LOOK key to aim and shoot some targets that act as switches. [End note 2]

 

Level 1: The Volcano (Der Vulkan)

 

You start in a dark cave. Go forward and slide down a slope onto a ledge over an underground lake. To the west you can see a waterfalls. Dive into the water and pick up red shotgun shells from the middle bottom of the lake. Swim to the north wall and pick up Uzi ammo in front of an empty crawl space. Swim east and pull up onto a ledge. Stand jump into the south-east tunnel. Go east and the camera view changes. Go to the east wall and stand on a yellow triangular floor piece. I do not know if it does anything. But the author included a picture of it in the zip file so I assume that it is important. Go north into the cave and the camera view changes. Push back a moveable box. Pick up red shotgun shells and Uzi ammo from underneath it.

 

[Note] The fixed camera views and annoying and I guess are designed to cause you to miss things. I found using the binoculars to look around the area solves this problem. The binoculars always look forward and are not affected by the fixed camera view. [End note]

 

Return and go south as the camera view gets annoying. Enter a small cave and shoot two rats. Pick up red shotgun shells and a small medipack from the floor. Go to the south-west corner and pull down the wall switch. You get a cut scene of the waterfalls. There is a barricade in the cave. Jump over the barricade and go to the east wall. Jump up and grab a ledge. Pull up into a crawl space for secret #1. Pick up revolver ammo, small medipack and large medipack. Crawl out and drop back into the small cave. Exit the cave and dive into the lake. Swim west and stay near the left wall and pick up revolver ammo and a large medipack from the floor. There is a water current from the waterfalls in this section. Swim across the lake and stay near the right wall and swim under the waterfalls to get behind it. Pull up onto a ledge and see the open gate in the west wall.

 

Enter the open gate and follow the dark tunnel onto an opening over the lake. Stand jump to the east ledge. Grab the east side and shimmy to the left along an unseen crevice. Pull up onto a ledge. Run and jump to grab a natural bridge to the east. Pull up and go north for secret #2. Pick up a shotgun and flares. Dive into the lake and swim back to the open gate behind the waterfalls. Stand jump onto the ledge to the west next to the waterfalls. Run and jump north to grab a ledge at the other side of the waterfalls. Grab the edge and shimmy to the right. Release and drop to grab the block below. Pull up and pick up revolver ammo. Grab the edge and shimmy to the right to drop into a tunnel. Go west into a cave. You have a choice of maneuvers:

 

Maneuver 1: Back flip onto a slope at the east wall. Jump forward to the west to grab the edge of a slope. Shimmy to the right as far as possible. Pull up, back flip, and jump with a left curve to grab a ledge. Shimmy to the left around two corners and pull up into a tunnel.

 

Maneuver 2: Face the east slope and stand at the left side. Hop back once. Jump onto the east slope and back flip onto a higher west slope.  Jump forward with a left curve to grab a ledge. Shimmy to the left around two corners and pull up into a tunnel.

 

Go west and stand in the higher corner. Pull up into a cave. Shoot a bat and go south-east to shoot another two bats. You are on the ledge above the waterfalls. Drop down onto a ledge with a closed gate. Run and jump east over the lake to grab a crawl space in the high cave ceiling. Check with the binoculars to see where to aim. Pull up onto the crawl space and go forward. Stand up in the alcove and pull down the wall switch. Crawl out and drop into the water.

 

Now follow the same route as before with the first gate and the tunnels. Jump over the water and follow the tunnels and slopes again. Drop down onto the ledge again and this time the gate is open. Go west to enter the open gate. Go forward to a slope and save the game. Notice a lava rock above your head. Light a flare and slide down to jump into a tunnel to the right in the north wall as the lava rock rolls down. I could not do this facing forward. I used another method. Slide down backwards near the left side as you face uphill. You land on a flat section for about a second. Stand jump forward with a left curve to enter the tunnel in the north wall as the lava rock rolls down.

 

Pick up Uzi ammo from the floor. You enter the room and Lara looks at the column. Shoot a rat and go west. Pull down the wall switch to open the door beside you. Enter the tunnel and shoot three bats. Go to the right and follow the ramp up to the top. Go west down the dark cave and shoot two rats. At the end, step onto a breakable tile. You get a flyby of the tile breaking and a long lava tunnel that you have to negotiate.

 

Run and jump to the west onto a triangular rock. The camera view changes. Run and jump with no grab to the north-east to land on a safe rock. The camera view changes to normal as you jump so you see yourself land in the lava many times until you get the correct jump angle. Run and jump east onto a safe platform. Run and jump north onto a rock. Stand jump east into a tunnel. The camera view changes to annoying again. You face another lava tunnel.

 

Go east and turn left to face north. Walk, not run, to the north and Lara stops at an edge. Stand jump to the east to land on a safe rock. Walk to the north-east corner. Run and jump to the north-east to land on a safe ledge. A lava rock drops into a pit behind you. Go north and drop into a pit. Shoot a mercenary among the TNT boxes. Go west into a tunnel and pull down a wall switch. You hear an explosion. Return to the pit and beware of the rolling lava rock. A tunnel has opened in the north wall.

 

Follow the tunnel upwards and around a corner. Go into a side branch tunnel and crawl into a crawl space to pick up Uzi's and Uzi ammo. Return to the tunnel entrance and wait until a lava rock rolls in front of you. Enter the main tunnel and follow the tunnel upwards into a room. Shoot four bats and search the room floor for red shotgun shells, Uzi ammo, and grenade super ammo. Pull down the wall switch on the north wall to open the door. Enter the door and the door closes. An egg explodes and a centaur emerges. The centaur does nothing but you still have to shoot him. The centaur explodes and you may need to crouch down to pick up a plaque (Torschluessel) from his location. Place the plaque in the receptacle in the north wall. The door opens and the other egg explodes. Shoot the centaur and pick up another plaque.

 

Enter the open door and be careful of the lava pool to your right. You can enter a tunnel in the left wall and shoot two mercenaries before they sneak up behind you. Pick up Uzi ammo from one dead body. Sprint north to avoid a rolling lava rock from the side. Go north into a large cave and see four eggs. Run forward and the four eggs explode. Shoot the four centaurs that emerge. Two centaurs stand still as posts and the other two centaurs are very bad shots.

 

Go north to the slope and dislodge two lava rocks. Go to the right side of the door and pull up onto the ledge above it. You have to jump flat tiles to reach the upper north-east corner. Jump north onto the first flat tile. Then jump north-east and back flip as a lava rock rolls down. Return to the same flat tile. Then jump north-east and back flip as a second lava rock rolls down. Return to the same flat tile. Then jump north-east and back flip as a third lava rock rolls down. Return to the same flat tile. Stand jump to grab a crevice on the east wall. Shimmy a long way to the right and pull up into a tunnel. Go to the end and save the game in front of a timed wall switch.

 

Pull down a wall switch and exit the tunnel. Shimmy to the left until you can drop safely onto the slope and survive. It helps to start with full health. Slide down the slope and run into the open door. Place the plaque in the receptacle and the doors open. The doors are hinged at the center and not the side. Enter the open doors and the level changes.

 

Level 2: The Pyramid (Die Pyramide)

 

You start in front of the closed doors. Go east down a slope to pick up a small medipack. Follow the corridor and pick up a large medipack and Uzi ammo. Go down some steps for red shotgun shells. Pull down the two wall switches to open the two doors. Enter the room and the doors closes. Go forward and an egg explodes. Shoot the centaur that emerges. Go to the north-west corner and the door opens. The egg also explodes and releases a flying mutant. Shoot it and be careful, as it can poison you. Enter the room and climb a ladder. Back flip into the higher room. Go south to the ledges over the room that you just left.

 

Search the ledge for red shotgun shells, small medipack, and revolver ammo. Jump into the south-west alcove and pull down the timed wall switch. You get a cut scene of eggs exploding. Shoot two flying mutants and the centaur on the north-east ledge. Use a medipack if you are poisoned. The centaur drops a large medipack. Push the moveable block by the centaur to the south but stop one tile back from the wall. Stand on the block and shoot the circle symbol to the right of the closed door. After a while, the door will open. Jump into the alcove for secret #3 to pick up a small medipack and a large medipack. Run and jump back onto the ledges. Then return to the timed wall switch in the corner.

 

Pull down the timed wall switch and get a cut scene of the doors opening in the room below. Safety drop to the floor and sprint east through the open doors. The doors close behind you. Go east and you are on a ledge in a tall room with a lava floor. Look above you to see many eggs and ledges. You will return to this room at many higher locations. Go to the north ledge and face the west wall. Stand jump to the wall a little to the right over the edge and grab an invisible crevice. Shimmy to the right and drop onto another ledge. Enter the doorway and follow the corridor onto a ledge over another lava floor. The swinging blade did not swing for me.

 

Go to the north end and grab the edge. Release and drop to grab the ledge below. Pull up and go south. Save the game in front of the timed wall switch. Pull down the timed wall switch and run north. Run and jump to grab the ledge to the east. Pull up and stand in the corner to shoot the flying mutant. If you stand in the corner, it cannot poison you (sometimes). Go back to the timed wall switch. Pull down the wall switch and go back to that ledge. Jump to the west ledge and go south. Run and jump over a skeleton, which will slow you down. Run and jump east onto a ledge. Then run and jump with no grab from the highest point of the ledge. You land on the east ledge. Run into the open timed door and it closes behind you.

 

Go east and ignore the first wall switch. Go to the end and pull down the wall switch. A door opens beside you. Return to the first wall switch and pull down the wall switch to open a door. Enter the door and follow a crawl space to a wall switch. Pull down the wall switch and go south into the corridor. Enter the open door in the south wall. Follow the tunnel and go right and then left to the end.  You seem to be stuck on an edge. Stand near the west wall and side jump to get into the lower tunnel. Avoid the wall darts that start. Pull up into a tunnel in the west wall.

 

Continue and see a flame emitter. Go left and follow the tunnel to a timed wall switch. You just have to get lucky here. There is no way to determine when the fire emitter is on or off. Pull down the timed wall switch and run down the tunnel. Stay near the wall to avoid the first fire emitter on the floor. You may have to wait for the second fire emitter from the right alcove to stop. Follow the tunnel to an open door. There are two false branch tunnels. The open door is at the very end. Enter the door and the door closes. Shoot two flying mutants. Shoot the circle symbol you see in the middle of the north wall. This raises a trap door at the south wall. Shoot another flying mutant.

 

Run and jump to the trap door at the south wall. Run and jump to the ledge and enter the tunnel. Follow the tunnel to a ledge over a lava floor. Turn to the left and pull down a timed jump switch in the corner. Run and jump south to grab the south ledge. Pull up and enter the open door. The door closes behind you. Pull down the wall switch on the west wall. Return and the door opens for you. The room is flooded with water. Swim over to the east ledge and save the game in front of still another timed wall switch. Pull down the timed wall switch. Turn the left, hop back, and run and jump to the north ledge. Stay near the wall and go through the tightly timed open door. The door closes behind you. Follow the tunnel to a ledge over the tall room with the lava floor again.

 

Run and jump north-west onto a slope. Jump onto the next slope and then jump to grab a ledge. Pull up and you can stand. Stand jump into the tunnel in the west wall. You enter another room with a lava floor. Run and jump to the platform in the middle of the lava. Run and jump north-west to the ledge at the north wall. Grab a crevice on the west wall and shimmy to the left. Go around the corners and pull up onto a ledge. Stand jump into the tunnel in the south wall. Follow the tunnel to another lava room with eggs.

 

Run and jump to the south-west. You land on a platform and the egg explodes. Run into a corner ands shoot the flying mutant that hatched. Go north-west and get onto the short block. Shoot the circle symbol to the south-east near the dark rocks. Another method is to stand on the west edge opposite the circle and aim upwards with the shotgun. The doors should open in the west wall. Watch out for a gap and jump through the open doors. Stand jump to grab a high jump switch. The lower doors open in front of you. Go through the open doors and the doors close behind you.

 

Go to the north-west corner. Pull out the bottom block of a column. Push it against the rocks to the east. Hop onto the block and run and jump over the rocks. Pull down a wall switch. Grab the west rock and pull up to slide down into the room. The entrance doors are open again. Now move the block under the opening in the upper east wall. Get onto the block and go up the tunnel. Push the block to the north as far as possible. Now return down the slope to the room.

 

[Note] There is a bug here were you can get into the water hole and out again without opening the trap doors. [End note]

 

Stand at the slope entrance and you can use pistols to shoot the two circle symbols on the north and south walls. The trap doors open in the middle of the room and reveal a water pool. Dive into the water and pull down an underwater lever. You get a cut scene of a trap door dropping. Get out of the water and exit back to the room with the ledges and the lava floor. Go to the north-east corner and find the dropped moveable block.

 

Move the block onto a decorative tile to the south near some dark rocks. A block expands from the south wall. Get onto the block and pull up to the column. Crawl east and drop on the other side. Pull down the timed jump switch on the east wall. Crawl back and use the ALT and UP ARROW keys for the new fast forward roll out of a crawl space. Stand jump into the timed open door in the south wall. The door closes behind you. Follow the tunnel to a ledge over the tall room with the lava floor again.

 

Turn to the south and enter a new tunnel. Run down the slope to the bottom ledge. Pull back a moveable block as far as possible. Run up the slope and go left into another side tunnel. Go down the slope to get behind the moveable block. Push it to the north. Go up the second tunnel and down the first tunnel again onto the block. Pull down a wall switch and a door opens behind you. Turn around and run up the new tunnel. Enter onto a ledge above the tall room with the lava floor again. The eggs explode so shoot two flying mutants. Shoot the centaur in the tunnel in the east wall.

 

Pull down a jump switch on the east wall behind you. Run and jump north to pull up on the raised trap door. Run and jump east and land on another raised trap door.

 

[Note] At this point I used the DOZY cheat to get across the gap. If you can do it, good for you. If the author fixes this, I may change the walkthrough. [End note]

 

Get across the gap and onto the south-east ledge. Get through the teeth doors and enter the room to shoot a centaur. The centaur leaves a large medipack. Go into the north-east corner and turn around to shoot a centaur and a flying mutant. Pull down the wall switch in the corner. Enter the open door in the north wall. Slide down a slope into a room. Shoot a centaur and go north up a slope. You enter another room. Go north-east and hop over the rock to enter the open door. The door closes behind you.

 

Run north over a decorative tile and a sword drops behind you. Continue to the next room and pick up a gold key (Laden) from the floor. Return to the sword room and use the key in the key lock on the east side of the north-east column. Go behind the south-west column and pull up onto a block. Stand at the south side and run and jump to grab a crevice on the west wall. Shimmy to the right and pull up onto a platform. Stand jump to grab the east column. Pull up in the corner and a sword drops onto the column. Run and jump to grab the south column. Pull up and run and jump to grab the east column. Pull up and run and jump to grab the north column. Finally pull up and run and jump with no grab to land on the north wall ledge. Push in the moveable block to the north as far as possible. Climb onto the block and pull down the wall switch. A trap door drops above your head. Stand jump to the south to grab the ledge. Pull up into a tunnel.

 

Follow the tunnel onto a ledge in a room with a lava floor. There is a yellow structure in the middle of the lava. Jump onto the west side of the yellow structure and slide down to grab the edge.  Shimmy to the right around the corners to the other side. Pull up, back flip, and roll to grab another slope. Shimmy to the right and pull up into the alcove. Pull down the wall switch.  Jump onto the yellow structure and slide down to grab the edge.  Shimmy to the right around the corners and pull up into a tunnel. Follow the tunnel to the top of the yellow structure. Jump down to the platform at the north wall and pull down the wall switch. Stand jump onto the flat tile on the yellow structure. Jump onto the closest corner as a lava rock falls on the opposite corner. Slide down and grab the edge again. Shimmy to the right and pull up into the tunnel again. Follow the tunnel to the top of the yellow structure again. Go north and run and jump with grab to glide into the open door. Go east and find a water pool.

 

Dive into the water and swim east. Pull down an underwater lever on the lower north wall. This opens an underwater door on the opposite south wall. Go back to surface for air and then swim into the tunnel. The tunnel twists and there is one hard section where you can get stuck and drown. Swim though an open trap door and pull up into a room. Eggs explode so shoot the centaur and flying mutant that hatched. Go west into the next room. Eggs explode so shoot the centaur and flying mutant that hatched.

 

Go into the south-west corner and pull down the wall switch. This causes blocks to rise. Go east to pull up onto a small block. Run and jump west onto a higher block. Stand jump to grab a red ceiling and monkey swing north. Pull down a jump switch on the north wall. Go into the south-west corner and pull down the wall switch. This causes blocks to rise.  Go east to pull up onto a small block. Run and jump east onto a higher block. Stand jump to grab a red ceiling and monkey swing south. Pull down a jump switch on the south wall. The doors open in the west wall. Enter the doors and follow the long corridor. You emerge onto a ledge back in the tall room with the lava floor again.

 

You can see pushrods on the south and east walls. In the TRLE forum these objects were called hammers. Turn around and shoot the circle symbol on the wall to the left of the corridor entrance. Also shoot a circle symbol in the far south-east corner between the pushrods. This raises platforms along the walls. Run and jump to the south-east and grab the edge of the platform. Shimmy to the right before you pull up. Time the pushrod and run and jump onto the slope at the south wall corner. Jump to the west and grab the platform. Pull up and run west into the corner.  Do not enter the tunnel. Shoot two flying mutants and save the game. Enter the tunnel in the south wall. Then exit back onto the platform to avoid the rolling lava rock.

 

Follow the tunnel to a small room with small slopes. Enter a north wall tunnel. Exit and run up any slope into the corner of the room. A lava rock should roll down the tunnel and roll around the room but you are safe in a high corner. Now follow that tunnel to the highest ledge in the tall room with the lava floor again. Run and jump to the platform at the west wall. Save the game in front of the timed jump switch. Pull down the timed jump switch. Turn to the right and hop back. Run and jump onto the north platform. Sprint through the timed open door and if you are lucky, also avoid the teeth doors in front of it. It is very hard to do. I made it after many tries with very little health left.

 

You enter another corridor. Follow the very long corridor to large doors. The doors open as you approach. You face a room with a lava floor and three pushrods on the east wall. There seems to be a sequence of events problem with this room. Go east to the pushrods. Angle a run and jump between the first and second pushrods. Stand jump over the second pushrod. Angle a run and jump over the third pushrod and onto the south ledge. Just time the pushrods and jump as they retract and save the game often. Pull down a wall switch and get a flyby of large doors opening. Return through the pushrods to the north ledge. Go to the west and shoot the circle symbol in the far south-west corner. This raises a platform in front of you. Cross the platform and pull down a wall switch. You get a cut scene of blocks expanding over the lava floor. Go onto the north blocks and run and jump to grab the south blocks. Pull up and run south through the open door.

 

[Note] When I did the expanding blocks first and the pushrods path second, there was an invisible block at the entrance door over the expanding blocks. I could not enter the room and reloaded a savegame to do the above method. [End note]

 

Go to the platform with the blue gem. Here is a bug that I saw the solution for in the TRLE forum. Hop onto the short platform to the east of the blue gem. Turn around and face away from the blue gem. Use CTRL and you pick the blue gem (Qualopec's Vermaechtnis) out of thin air. The doors open and an earthquake starts. Run and jump into the pit to the south. An egg explodes and a creature emerges. Stay away from the north side, as there is a hole there to drop you into a pit.  Shoot the Atlantean creature and pick up a plaque from the exploding body. Use the plaque in the receptacle and the doors open in the south wall. Shoot two flying mutants and enter the open doors.

 

Follow the tunnel to a room with a lava floor. Run and jump to the south-west and land on a ledge. Run and jump south-east and land on the ledge. Go south and enter the room to shoot a flying mutant. Go south through the room to the tunnel in the south wall. Run through the tunnel and the level ends by crashing to the desktop.

 

[Note] According to the TRLE forum notes, the pushrods needed the DOZY cheat as well. I did not need the cheat at that location. I only needed the cheat to jump a gap. Although the cheat does gives you the revolver, which is very useful. [End note]
