[NOTE from the author]: For these three levels I decided to use a save-game system similar to the tr3-play station one. I did that to make things a bit more difficult without adding impossible jumps or deadly traps... Anyway you have the opportunity to choose the normal save game system at the very beginning of the adventure, but remember that you will not be able to change your mind without starting the game again! The save crystals will work also in the "easy mode", so if you are not sure you can select the normal save and just try to use only the crystals. [End note]

 

So, when you begin the game, you can choose if you want the option to save with the crystals running ahead to get the very first crystal and turn around to the corridor (there's nothing in the pool) to begin to play, or you can advance and turn to the right corridor to play with the normal mode. It's your choice.

 

 

LEVEL 1: Holy Waters

 

First tasks

 

Once at the bottom of the ramp go up the stairs and turn right (E); climb to the opening and pick up the shotgun and flares in the dark passage. Return down to the stairs, go through the N corridor and shoot the bats. Continue and cross the wooden bridge, pick up the large medipack to your left, turn around and climb the N ladder to the top; shimmy right and around the corner, climb to the top and pull the wall switch to open the doors below. Go down and through the open doors; take a running jump over the spiked pit and climb the W ledge to get uzi clips. Time the spikes in the next corridor (sprint) and pull the switch at the end to fall into the room below. Jump the spiked pit, pick up the small medipack near the skeleton and pull the switch in SW corner. Return to the N side of this room timing the swinging blades, climb the raised block in the corner and W through the now open door. Walk a bit and the door closes behind you, watch the flyby of a very huge inner area...

 

Two secrets

 

Once the flyby stops notice the high wall switch in front of you, but let's go for a couple of secrets first. Advance W and shoot three wolves. Left and right are small alcoves with mummies; go to the third alcove to your right (N) completely covered with vegetation to find SECRET #1: a small medipack and shotgun shells. Go out to the main "street" and W to the pit. Climb down the ladder and at the botom step over the five different tiles (with metallic sounds when you step on them) to lower a block in S wall of the pit for SECRET #2: flares, shotgun shells and a large medipack. Return to the pit, climb the ladder and go back to the entrance of this huge cave where the high wall switch was.

 

Two Guardian Keys

 

To the right of this high wall switch there is a moveable block with a face texture. Push it two times and enter a new room. Drag the block once N and once W, climb it and pull another high wall switch in S wall to open a door S down and to the left in the small alcove where the immobile mummy is (shoot the wolf which appears). Now you must move the block outside so push it once E, once S, pull it twice E to its original position and go S and around the corner to the alcove where the mummy is and push it once outside. Turn around and go outside where the block is and pull it once so you can climb it and pull the high wall switch in W wall. Two cages lower inside the building; go there, up the stairs, cross the wooden bridge and pick up two Guardian Keys.

 

Going up

 

Go outside this building and to the S building. Place one of your guardian keys near the door in SW corner behind the lightened torch to open the door. Enter, shoot the bat and climb the ladder to your left. Jump back at its top to land onto the ledge behind. Go to the W end of this ledge and push the block in S wall twice. Now push the other block once E and once N to the ledge outside. Now walk to the NW corner of the opening, turn right 90 degrees and when facing NE take a standing jump onto this second block. From the E side, pull it once and climb it; from its top take a running jump to the N opening (no grab). Cross the bridge and if you want you can drop to the N lower ledge to get uzi clips (but you'll need to return to the bridge again the same way) or leave it for later when you return here near the end of the level. On the other side of the bridge, pull the switch to open the door and time the swinging blade to jump to the N ledge in front of you (with grab). There is a crack in W wall; use it and shimmy all the way to the right around two corners and hoist up on the upper bridge. Grab the uzis from the S pedestal and a door opens in front of you. Go there and drop to the previous bridge. Pull again the switch to close the door and jump to grab the ledge above you: the fires are now gone so, go to the NE corner and climb the ladder.

 

Filling the rooms with holy waters: Step 1

 

In the next room drop (notice the wooden block in the floor near the entrance for later) and continue N to a stone bridge; turn left and take a running jump to the small cave with an intermittent green light to pick up a small medipack. Return to the bridge an continue N. In the next room there are flares and uzi clips. Take a standing jump from the entrance to grab the top of the central pillar and hoist up. Climb the ladder and shoot the bat above. Continue N to the next water room; jump to the ledge to pick up flares (notice the E closed door) and drop into the water. Dive through the S underwater passage to another water room. Turn left (E) and look for a wall switch in NE corner between the pillars; pull it to open the door in the previous water room. Go back there and crawl to avoid the blades in the corridor. In the next room you must trigger three boulders to open the door up the ramp walking over the corners of the pad tiles (it's easy). In the next room shoot the wolves and turn left (NE) to discover SECRET #3: a small medipack behind the statue. There are uzi clips in NW corner where the blue crystal is too. Near the second swinging blade to the left (S) there is a moveable block; push it once to let the water flows to the room below.

 

Filling the rooms with holy waters: Step 2

 

Return to the entrance of this room and climb the ledge to get the room above. Go through the N passage, shoot the wolf and pull the switch to open the door behind you (and close another one). Enter and climb the ladder; there are flares and a large medipack in the S side of this room. Pull the switch in the N side to raise a block in the room below. Return to the room below and pull the switch again to close the door behind you (but open another one). Return to the room with the swinging blades and jump to the raised block, climb the first ladder and go to the left through the grated corridor to pick up two more Guardian Keys. A door opens beside you; go out and to the right there is a passage with some skeletons; there are blade traps so the best way to save your life is walk very slowly to trigger each trap and continue to the end. Pick up the uzi clips and place the keys in the receptacles to see more water flowing to the rooms below.

 

Filling the rooms with holy waters: Step 3

 

Now you can simply drop through one of the holes near the receptacles to the room below and watch the flyby. Swim N and return to the big stone bridge now full of water; continue N and in the last water room observe that the wooden block is now floating, revealing an underwater crawlspace where it was placed before. Dive there and in the next room go climbing the ledges and shooting golden birds till you find the receptacle to place your last guardian key above, near a small pool (notice the trapdoor to your right). This lowers a cage a bit below in the way you came, revealing a switch in the niche in W wall. Return there and save your game 'cause the switch is timed. If you want you can pull the switch a first time to kill another golden bird first to not disturb you when doing the timed run. Pull the switch, roll and turn a bit to standjump to the ledge to your right, sidejump left to land onto the ledge with the wooden bridge, and run around and up (without grab when jumping over the pit) to the place where you placed the key, jump onto the block (directly from the higher rocks in its NE side) and grab the now raised trapdoor. Once got it, pull the switch to lower a block in the previous room inundating the outside area.

 

Exiting the level

 

Make your way to return there and jump into the W pool, climb the SW ledge and climb the ladder there. Take a running jump NW to the block in E wall, jump to the next two blocks N and go through the dark opening in E wall. Follow the path to the top where a trapdoor raises and take a long running jump to the E ladder (from the left side of the trapdoor). Climb it and continue to a new upper area above the stone bridge. Pick up the flares and the large medipack from the ledge to your right, advance N and right to a dark cave where you'll find the exit of this level.

 

 

LEVEL 2: PATH OF THE GODS

 

Three buttons

 

Pick up the shotgun shells and cross the bridge to a central stone structure. Notice the empty pedestal here (for much later). Now approach the W or E borders, turn around, take a step ahead and drop back pressing "Ctrl" at last moment when surpassing the edge to land in the alcove below and get SECRET #4: the uzis and uzi clips. Safety drop to ground floor and shoot the dino that's waiting for you. You can go to a nearby S cave now and follow to the end to pick up a large medipack. Now you need to press three buttons to open a door in the E side of the valley so, go to the SE corner of the valley and press the first in the lonely rock near the mentioned door. From here go directly NW and behind a rock where the blue crystal is there's a small cave with the second button; shoot another dino, jump the pit and press it. Go outside and directly SW around the central stone structure, shoot two more dinos, and continue SW to find another cave entrance behind a grey tilted pillar. Enter, grab the crack to your right, shimmy left, hoist up to the crawlspace, drop from the other side and shoot the dino. Go down the stairs and find three blue serpent statues. They're moveable; move the statues so they're pointing to the marked tiles in N, W and S walls to raise the block under the button. Climb it, push the button and see how the door opens in the E side of the valley.

 

The first Golden Idol

 

Return to the valley and go there. Shoot a dino inside, pick up 2 x uzi clips and pull the switch to deactivate the blades in the room above. Go outside and climb the NW block near the tall grey pillars; jump to the E ledge and use the moveable block to your right to reach the high central stone beam and pick up the first Golden Idol. Place the idol in the nearby receptacle to stop the fires at the top of the tall grey pillars outside (for later). Go back outside and W, behind the central rocky sturcture where you found the secret.

 

The second Golden Idol

 

There are two lonely stone pillars here. Climb the left one and jump to the other one N; from here jump to the next grey ledge N and finally to the top of the rock near the N wall. Grab the crack and shimmy right until you can hoist up and reach the N side of the broken bridge (this is the final exit). Walk E a bit, turn right and jump through the small opening onto a sloped block outside. Face W and do a standing jump from the middle of the tile to grab the first pole; swing only four times, release and grab the next pole; do the same again to grab the last pole and the same to finally grab the rope. Turn right and see the small opening with an intermittent green light; swing there and pick up the second Golden Idol from the top of the block (the tile with the skeleton is a trap). Go back to the entrance and take a standing jump SW to slide and land on the lower rocks with the large medipack; from here a running jump to the NW lower ledges and place the idol in its receptacle in W wall.

 

Pool room

 

In this new room there's a small water channel and a small pool, but the currents are too strong so, go to the NW opening first and pull once the wooden moveable block; now jump into the water in the very NE corner of the pool and the current will lead you inside the underwater crawlspace to a place where you can climb and pick up uzi clips. In the other side there is the block you've pulled moments ago so push it once, return to the water and to the pool. Climb the block and take a standing jump SW to grab the top of the cascade W; shimmy all the way to the left until you can stand up, take a running jump to grab the N ladder and climb to the top.

 

Darts room

 

In the entrance of this room there's a pad tile which opens the door in the other side, but it's timed. The darts are poisonous here so if you're hit by a dart you'll have to use a medipack. Drop down if you want to get the crystal and return to the entrance. Standjump to the NW block and from the very NE corner, face S-SE and take a standing jump to grab the edge of the ledge above; hoist up to get SECRET #5: shotgun shells. Return to the entrance tile to open the door in N side. Jump again over the NW pillar, a running jump without stopping to the next N pillar, turn right and a standing jump to the still open door. Don't worry about the darts, but use a medipack at the end if necessary. Pick up the small medipack and approach to the left side of the ramp near the red spikes. Face E, jump back and jump again with a right curve to land over the E slope. Now you must slide and jump from E and W slopes with curves to the S (roll when one of the jumps to face W) to finally grab the edge of a flat ledge SW. Kill the pesky bat, climb the S ledge and at the end jump to grab the crack; shimmy left and around the corner, drop and grab the jumpswitch to open a trapdoor in the hole below.

 

Underwater business

 

Once in the water take care of the spikes and pull the underwater switch in W wall over the trapdoor; the current takes you down and you think this is Lara's death, but you can swim up to the surface and the room is dry there. Walk over the pad tile to open the door, go there and pull the switch inside; quickly swim N to the next room and then E trying to avoid the spikes and the current the best you can. After this hard fight with the currents emerge in a small room with a cascade where you can pick up 2 x uzi ammo and a large medipack. Go through the S dark passage and jump over the lower tiles (spike traps); at the end you arrive in a very high place overlooking the valley. Enjoy the nice view.

 

[Note:] In the old version of the level there's a error in the design here 'cause you can get the torch you need, avoiding a good part of the gameplay the author prepared for you. So, if you want to take a shortcut to finish soon you can follow the next instructions ("Fast route") and continue in the paragraph titled "Using the torch", but if you want to take the normal gameplay continue reading the paragraph below titled "The first Silver Key: access to the temple". Fast route (old version only)

 

Approach to the SW corner and face NE; jump back, slide and grab the edge, shimmy left and and drop in a safe ledge at the end. In this room move the W pedestal over the trapdoors to the marked tile between the serpent statues; use the switch in N wall to light the pedestal, pick up a torch from the E block and light it in the pedestal. Now you can go E, throw the torch to ground floor, safety drop and continue to the top of the initial bridge where you can light the pedestal there.

 

The first Silver Key: access to the temple

 

Approach to the E border and the camera changes showing you a jumpswitch; use it and drop into a small water hole below; dive to the bottom and pick up the Silver Key. Return to the surface and kill three dinos. Go up the W stairs to the temple and open the door with the key (there are uzi clips and a small medipack over this ledge). Jump over the spikes and in the other side you must trigger a spiked ball in the S ramp (thre's another one in the N ramp) so go up the ramp walking back and when you notice the ball (thrid step) run down the ramp and jump to the right. Go up the now safe ramp and outside to the NE corner; drop, grab the edge and shimmy right using the crack in N wall; drop, grab the crack below and shimmy right to the next flat ledge. Use the switch to open a door somewhere. This door is in the ramp where you triggered the ball moments ago so safety drop to the floor, kill a dino and return there.

 

The second silver key: the torch

 

Take notice of the keyhole in the corridor and in the next room pull the switch to deactivate some spikes in the ledges outside. Turn around and approach to the E opening, take a running jump to the small ledge below (E), a standig jump to the next and use the pole (maximum energy) to reach the E rock with the flares. Jump to the next wide E ledge below and from here a single jump to the top of the arch N. In the N side of this arch there is a jumpswitch, pull it to open a trapdoor below. Jump into the water and take care of the spikes, dive to the very bottom and pick up the second Silver Key there. Now return to the temple to the door in the ramp where the keyhole is. Use the key to raise the trapdoors near the small wooden bridge; go there and move the W pedestal over the trapdoors to the marked tile between the serpent statues; use the switch in N wall to light the pedestal, pick up a torch from the E block and light it in the pedestal.

 

Using the torch

 

But, where can I use the torch now? go E to the outside ledge, throw the torch to ground floor, safety drop and continue with the torch all the way E to the other side of the valley where you picked up the first idol (remember that you took off the fires over the pillars). So climb there and throw the torch in the left or right alcoves for the moment. Move the block all the way to the W until you can no more. Pick up the torch and jump onto the block; continue jumping over the pillars to the central stone structure where you began this level and carefully light the empty pedestal here to lower a cage below. Leave the torch now, you don't need it anymore.

 

Exiting the level: the T-Rex

 

Safety drop to ground floor and in the S side of this central structure is the new opening. Jump into the water and dive through the E opening; the doors open for you at the end; forget the goodies for now, there are three underwater switches connected to the three E doors. Note that the switches work only when you can see a kind of white steam under the serpent statue on the switch itself: the smoke remains only a few seconds, then starts on the next switch doing this round: right switch, central, left. When the gates are opened go to the E passage, take a breath and return to pick up the goodies: 3 x uzi clips, a large medipack and shotgun shells. Return to the air hole and pull the underwater switch to open the exit door; abandon this room through the now open door in W wall and return to the valley. A T-Rex appears, but your shotgun is now wet and you can't use it, so kill it with the uzis or just make your way to avoid it: return to the other side of the broken bridge (N) like you did before, go W and climb the left pillar, jump to the other one N, from here jump to the next grey ledge N and finally to the top of the rock near the N wall. Grab the crack and shimmy right until you can hoist up and reach the N side of the broken bridge. Drop into the N opening in the floor and continue to...

 

 

LEVEL 3: THE OLD EMPIRE

 

Access to the temple

 

Enter a room with statues and pick up a small medipack near the last one. Continue through the caves to the entrance of the temple. Use the binoculars to explore the four wheels and notice that there are some repeated symbols in all of them. To open the door it's necessary that every wheel has the symbols aligned to the others: a scheme is easier to understand:

where the “O” are the wheels and letters are the symbols.

 

Then you have to pull a switch high up over the entrance (thanks, Monique!). Climb the NW rocks and pull the switch there twice. Return to the entrance and pull the left switch once and the right switch three times. Now climb the E rocks: approach to the tall pillar E and take a running jump SE behind the other pillar with the sloped top, you'll slide a bit and land over that sloped top. Go to the NE alcove with the switch and pull it twice. Now return to the E rocks and climb a little more to the top (NE), from here a running jump to the temple roof, shimmy left, hoist up and another jump W to the center of the roof. Now drop S to the last switch and pull it to open the temple doors.

 

The first elevator

 

Advance to find a lava room; there are 2 x uzi clips in the first platform. Take a running jump E to the elevator room, but better return to the initial platform to shoot a strange creature (demigod) in the N platform so he doesn't disturb you when you advance with the monkeyswing. Return to the elevator room, pick up the uzi clips and shotgun shells and enter the elevator from this E side. Exit to the S ledge and wait for the elevator to go down and jump over this roof. Approach to the W side and time the moment to jump W and grab the monkeyswing above you; swing all the way to the W room and drop on the W high ledge to safely shoot the mummy below. Now you must use the poles to reach the ledge to your left in E wall. Jump to grab the first pole (with your back against the wall), do four spins, release and grab the next, move to your left and swing to land on the ledge. To reach the jumpswitch you'll have to use the pole again; jump from the wall, move to your right and release to grab the jumpswitch to open a trapdoor below. Drop and follow the path to a room with another elevator.

 

The second elevator

 

In this room there are some trapdoors to raise but all they are timed so, don't waste the time and try to do the tasks as fast as you can.There's a marked tile in the floor which raises a trapdoor in NW corner; wait over this tile for the elevator to come and mount, go to the W side of the elevator and jump on that raised trapdoor (another one raises in NE corner). Now you must wait here until the elevator descends so, prepare yourself and as soon as you can jump over the top of the elevator and run and jump to the trapdoor in the other side and another trapdoor raises in SW corner (try to land near the N wall). Quickly turn right and take a running jump to the first pole, four spins and release to grab the next pole, another four spins and jump to the next raised trapdoor (try to land on the very right side this time). Another trapdoor raises high to your right, turn right, jump and grab it, hoist up and take a running jump to the next SW raised trapdoor (try to land near the S wall), hoist up and quickly jump back to the trapdoor behind you to open the exit door, jump ahead to the previous trapdoor in SW corner, turn right and take a running jump to the first pole, four spins to grab the next pole and this time five spins to reach the exit door.

 

Room with two giant yellow balls

 

As you can suppose, those balls hide two enemies so when you advance the balls explode and you'll have to fight with them. Once killed, climb the ladder over the N exit and jump back to land on the high bridge behind you; go S to the next bridge and time the blades to take a running jump to the jumpswitch in the centre of the S wall. The N door is open now. In the next area there is a big lava pit and a huge circular door in the other side, but it's closed, and the poles are protected with spikes so turn around, go up the stairs and through the W opening.

 

Blue room with mirror floor

 

In this room you can pick up shotgun shells and the shotgun in the right side and pull a switch in the left side to open the next W door. Now you enter in a dark bluish room with four static creatures and a kind of throne in the W side (the door closes behind you). Climb the throne and press the massive button to reveal an opening behind one of the creatures. Go down and prepare yourself for a very hard battle with all them (use the shotgun, it will kill them faster). Once the massacre is finished, climb the opening in N wall, pick up the large medipack and pull the switches to open the exit door and retract the spikes in the poles over the lava (notice the receptacle for a key here).

 

Last secret

 

Return to the lava pit and to the right side of the stairs, jump to the first pole, five spins to grab the next pole and more spins to reach the other side. The big circular door is still closed so, go SW and you are in the other side of the initial room where you killed the first mummy. Go E and climb the grey rocks to the high NE niche; turn around and take a standing jump S-SW to grab the high ledge above; shimmy left to get SECRET #6: large and small medipacks and 3 x uzi clips. Safety drop to the floor and go E but this time to the room where the blue crystal is. Go left and enter in a room with the key you need over a pedestal but four mummies in the corners too.

 

Room with moving ledges and fire emitters

 

Go to the left and right alcoves to pick up a small medipack and uzi clips, pick up the key from the pedestal and see what happens. You find yourself in a big lava room with ledges going up and down and many fire emitters. You'll need to pull three switches to open the exit door. Let's go. Jump to the SE ledge and face S; when this ledge is up jump S to the next ledge when it's over the fires and enter the alcove with the first switch. Now you can run off the ledge in a SW direction to land on the ledge with the pedestal. Now jump to the SW ledge and from here to the ledge in W wall; wait until the ledge is up and quickly jump to the N ledge and just in the line between the left and central tiles; in this position the fires won't catch you and you can turn right a bit, wait until the ledge is down and quickly enter the opening with the second switch. Now when the ledge is down take a running jump SW to return to the ledge in W wall. Go S and jump onto the ledge in S wall; from here go E and it's easy to jump over the low ledge in E wall with the last switch; a door opens above. To return, situate Lara one tile back from the W border (left side) and take a standing jump SW when the S ledge is down (it's not so easy); finally exit through the open door in S wall.

 

Opening the big circular door

 

When you return to the main room, two beasts are waiting for you, you know what to do. Go in front of the big circular door and climb the NE ledge in front of the pole, jump to grab it and do only three spins to grab the next pole, move yourself to the left side and wait until the green bar is at maximum energy, release and grab the next pole; take some more spins and land onto the stairs. Return to the bluish W room and through the N opening to place the key and see how the big circular door opens. Return to the big circular door as I explained before, pull the switch there falling in the room below. Run N down the ramp and the door opens for you at the end, but you can't get the scion yet (need another key) so go through the corridor to your left.

 

Smashing pillars

 

When you arrive the pillars start to move so go to the right and jump W over the spiked pit. Now you have to run over the central tile with the sign so, time the other pillar and run to the other side. The pedestal is still on fire, but a door opened near the entrance of the room. Go there timing the pillars the best you can (it's not so difficult). There's nothing inside, but you've walked over the other marked tile in the floor in front of the door and the fire is gone now. Return to the pedestal and pick up the second Golden Key and return to the room where the scion was.

 

The Scion room

 

Place the key in its receptacle and a bridge raises from the lava. Pick up the Scion and this provokes an earthquake. Time the fire to take a running jump to the N ledge, turn right and another running jump to the broken pillar E; a standing jump to the broken pillar S; turn around and another standing jump to the N pillar; a running jump NW to the next pillar and exit through the N opening. At the end of the corridor drop into a new room and go N to the room with the big balls, climb the E rocks and continue through the E passage; slide down the ramp, turn left and climb the final ledges to finish this excellent adventure.
