TR3 - FALLS OF NAGA by BECK

Go forward and slide down a tunnel.
When it opens up jump with a right curve and continue jumping to avoid the lava
pit at the end. As you go through the opening at the right side you get a cut
scene of a boulder rolling towards you. Immediately flip back into the tunnel
you came from. You should end up sliding down into the boulder with some health
loss. Keep jumping with a left curve until you are free of the boulder. Go up
the path the boulder came from and at the top right jump into a hole on the
right side that is very hard to see. Slide down some slopes and eventually land
in front of a lava pool with an island in the middle. Jump to the island and
kill two large creatures (1,2). They will shoot blue spheres at you so be careful. When they are
dead pick up two pink gems (1,2) [Serpent Stones] that they dropped. Go to one alcove to use a gem
to open a door in the other alcove. Go through that door and pick up a large Medi pack (3) from an alcove on
the left. Climb the ladder on the right wall and at the end back flip to a
sloping ledge. Slide and jump to grab another slope. Pull up, slide a little
and jump to grab a ledge. Pull up and kill two poisonous creatures 3,4) that drop two pink gems (4,5). If you are lucky you can kill them before they poison you or push
you off the cliff. Go into a tunnel to the top right. Run/jump over some spikes
and go for a long fall into some water.
[Alternate] At the first boulder you could have
jumped right at the end and run over collapsing tiles towards the right. You
have to jump a trench and into an alcove. If you miss another boulder runs you
down. You then have to monkey swing through an almost impossible set of fire
emitters. At the end you drop and jump left to an alcove to avoid more lava.
Jump the lava trench and kill a small poisonous creature that leaves behind a pink gem. Go to the end and keeping to the left side slide down to jump to a
slope. Again jump to a slope and jump with a left curve to an alcove on the
left. Climb the block beside you to get a pink gem. Drop to the other side of the block
and go through a small tunnel. Run/jump over some spikes and go for a long fall
into some water. The first route gives you another gem and less work. [End alternate]
Follow the water caves until you see
waterfalls. Swim to the front of it and face outward. On you immediate left is
a hidden underwater tunnel ending with a closed trap door #1. To the immediate
right side is another hidden tunnel. Go there and the tunnel splits. Look up to
the left for a closed trap door #2. Go down and follow an underwater cave to an
area with a building. Pull up to the far left to get some flares (6). Go to the building
to pull a switch and get a cut scene of trap door #1 dropping. Swim to the open
trapdoor #1 and pull up into a tunnel. Kill two poisonous creatures (5,6) before they poison you. Go back to the waterfalls and face outward
again. To the far left wall at the bottom, near where you fell into the water,
is another well-hidden underwater tunnel. Go behind a rock and swim up. You
pass a closed gate with a Medi pack behind it. Go straight pass an opening to
the end and pick up some flares (7) and then go back to the waterfalls for air. Now go back to the
tunnel you passed before. Follow with a few turns to the left and up to the
right into small tunnel and eventually come to an air hole. Fill with air, dive
down and go to the right and eventually reach an area with a pink gem (8). Pick it up and the
closed gate opens below you. Pick up a large Medi pack (9) on the way out of
the cave. Of course, it is not easy as piranha fish attack you. Swim back to
the open trapdoor #1 and pull up into a tunnel.
Follow the cave to the end and stand in
front of a lava pit and slopes with fire emitters. The only way I made was to
jump and grab the first slope and shimmy to the left. When the left fire
emitter starts, pull up. When you are at the top the fire emitter should be
going out. Slide, jump left, slide and jump right to a flat area behind the
second fire emitter. Go straight and to the left and you are on the second
floor of the building. There is a small Medi pack
(10) on the back right floor. Go outside to the
pillar on the right. Pull the switch and get a cut scene of the temple doors
below opening up. Drop down and kill two poisonous
creatures (7,8) inside the temple. Inside there seems
to be door at the back that I could not open. On the right corner is a panel
that could be a door. Also in the upper part of the right wall is a panel that
could be a door. Go to the near left corner and pull up into a crawlspace.
Crawl and at the end kill a poisonous creature (9) in a room. Pick up the pink gem (11) that he drops. If he dies on the spikes, walk through them to
prevent damage. Get back to the temple area. Go to the far left and into a
crawlspace. Go in just a little and then back up and climb out. Another poisonous creature (10) attacks from
the tunnel. Kill it from the temple and if lucky you will not be poisoned. If
it doesn't appear, you may have to go very far into the crawlspace and into the
room to the right. It may be running around the room there. Either way, you
should go to that room.
Notice that three ceiling squares are
different. Go to the near left corner and pull a block out of the way to reveal
a tunnel. Pull/push this block underneath the ceiling tile to the right wall.
Go inside and pull another block out. Go to the crawlspace to the right and the
corridor is open now. Pickup a small Medi pack (12) on the floor. Notice the switch at the back wall. Push the second
movable block into the other room and go back there. Pull/push this block
underneath the ceiling tile at the back wall. These two tiles open up the door
on the upper wall in the outside room. This miserable door is timed but pulling
a block one square and pushing it back can reset it. Go inside and down a
tunnel to overlook a room with a safe area surrounded by lava. Save the game
now. Slide down and immediately a large creature
(11) drops down on you. There is little room to
move but when he dies he explodes and leave behind a pink gem (13). If it dies on the
lava, you cannot get the gem so reload the save game and try again. Use this
gem on the receptacle on the wall. Go to the slide where you entered this room.
Pull up, back flip and roll to grab an invisible ledge. Pick up a pink gem (14) from it and the
fires on the side ledges go out. One side ledge is a large Medi pack (15) and the other has a
pink gem (16). Decide what you want. If you pick one the other has a fire under
it so you cannot get both. I picked a pink gem. Jump to one side ledge for the
item you want. Back to the floor and get back to the middle platform again.
Jump to another side ledge and follow a tunnel. Drop to a switch in the
corridor near where you got the Medi pack and pushed the blocks. Push a button
and the other corner door in the outside room opens. This door is mercifully
not timed. Now go back there and see a ladder on the left wall.
Look up to notice the hole with a
closed gate beside the ladder. High on the opposite wall is a crawlspace. Climb
the ladder and slide down. Immediately go left to a wall to pull a switch. Turn
right and go pull another switch. Turn right and go pull the last switch. Go
right and slide forwards down the hole and at the end jump to grab the
crawlspace. Of course it is not easy since there is a moving spike wall moving
downwards towards your head. You will get cut scenes of trap door #2 opening
but hit Key Pad 0 key to stop the cut scenes. Crawl in and follow a tunnel.
Kill a poisonous creature (12) and pick up a pink gem (17). There are flares on a rock but I could not pick them up. Continue
to a room to kill another poisonous creature (13) and pick up a pink gem (18). Pick up a large Medi pack (19) beside the door. There is a hole on one side that drops you into
the piranha. Drop through and swim to trap door #2 and pull up. If you did not
make the crawlspace, just go back outside the temple to the water and swim to
trap door #2 and pull up. Either way you are back on a ledge in the area with
the waterfalls. If you look out to the near right corner you see a block you
have to get to. This seems to be another infamous jump where you have to jump
from the right pixel at the right angle at the right millisecond to make it. If
you jump with no grab and hold the jump you seem to jump further (or maybe it's
my imagination) so you just make the near corner of that block. It's a painful
jump but some miracle may happen and you make it. Turn to see a sloped block in
the far right corner. Jump to it and jump to pull up on a block near the
waterfalls.
Easy jumps to the left wall and back
wall blocks. Jump to the right wall at a slight angle to the right so you grab
it and pull up. Jump straight and you slide down. One final tricky jump over the
water brings you to the top of the waterfalls. Go to the other side and see an
almost sheer drop of waterfalls. The water at the bottom is deadly. Drop
backwards and near the end of the drop, back flip with a roll to grab a crevice
on the far wall. Shimmy to the far right wall and pull up and back flip. You
end up on a ledge near the waterfalls. Go to the waterfalls and take two steps
back. Hop back, run and jump to the front of the waterfalls. Use a left curve
and you should end up on the ledge to the other side of the waterfalls. Forget
about the flares on the other side. I could not pick them up. Go to the corner
and climb a block and then another block overlooking the water. Before you jump
the gap, turn around and jump to a grab a pillar. Pull up to get a small Medi pack (20). Back to the ledge
again. Run/jump from the right corner of the block to about the middle of far
ledge. Pull up and go into a cave. Kill the two poisonous creatures (14,15) before they
poison you.
The following gates and switches are
numbered in order of use to make a triple timed run. Go to the far corner of
the structure and jump up into it. Notice a closed gate #3 at the end. Look
through the gate to see a closed purple double gates #1. Climb into an alcove
and pull a switch #2. A gate #2 opens at the other side of the outside ledge.
Go up and up the ledge and follow into the gate #2. Notice the ladder on the wall. Climb into an
alcove and pull a switch #3 to get a cut scene of the other gate #3 opening. It
closes quickly but now you know that the switch is there. Now climb the ladder
and at the top pick up a pink gem (21). Go down towards the front of the building and fall into a hole.
Turn around a press a button #1 to get a cut scene of closed purple double
gates #1 inside the building opening. Get out of the hole and slide down to a
ledge. Go to switch #2 and pull it. Run back and through gate #2. Pull switch
#3 and get back out of gate #2 before it closes. Run back to gate #3 and go
through it and the purple double gates #1 before they close. I guess it is
possible to use rolls and jumps from the switches and sprint along the ledge
between gates and on the ground and used Key Pad 0 to stop the cut scenes. The
jumps have to be perfect as well. If you slip once you lose the time. This
misery takes forever to do but some day you make it through all the gates
before they close and now you face fire emitters. That being said, after a long
time trying, I hacked the time codes to give me more time so I could finish.

Going through the emitters was actually
easy since if you stand near the wall they do not catch you on fire. On the
other side go left to overlook the deadly water and waterfalls again. Stand to
the far right of the opening. Run/jump with a partial grab and with luck you
end up the right hand corner of the far ledge. Go inside the tunnel and go up
through the cave. At the top kill two poisonous
creatures (16,17). Notice the ladders on the far wall. Go
the left corner and with your back to the ladder back flip to slope and jump to
grab another slope. Shimmy to the right, pull up, back flip and roll to grab
the ladder. Climb the ladder as far as possible to the right. Pull up, back
flip, and roll to grab a ledge. Shimmy to the far right, pull up, back flip and
roll. Jump off a slope and grab another ladder. Climb to the top and go to the
right side. Pull up and back flip to another slope and slide down into a stable
area where you can save.
Go to the end of this cave and pull up
onto a slope. Slide, jump, and run over collapsible tiles onto a ledge
overlooking a lava pool. In the pool are columns with three large creatures (18,19,20) shooting blue spheres at you. You cannot shoot them, If you pull
your guns, you catch on fire. Run/jump to the first column to the left
(clockwise) and then to the last column on the back wall. Look up to the left
to se a ledge. Grab it and continue jumping ledges to the right until you face
a ladder. Jump to the ladder and climb up to a ledge. Jump to grab a monkey
wing and follow it to the other side of the cave and drop. Use a pink gem in a
receptacle on the wall. You get a cut scene of the creatures falling and an
earthquake happens. Fire is everywhere making things miserable again. Knell
down and grab the ledge but do not drop. Shimmy to the left end and the
earthquake stops. Now shimmy to the right and drop to the ledge.
Now you have to go around the room
counter-clockwise. Jump to a pillar to your right and then jump to grab a
crevice and pull up into a crawl space. At the other end you make trickier
jumps until you get to a column where the next jump is to a fire on a ledge.
Jump to the far corner of the ledge, turn, drop and grab. Shimmy left past the
fire and pull up. You lose less health this way. Follow the tunnel on the left
into a large cave. Follow the caves to a room with ledges and closed gates.
Climb down a ladder to the floor and press a button at the far end. A gate
opens above you. If you have less than 6 gems or want to see the alternate ending,
run down the tunnel on the bottom floor and to the end of the cave. Go to the
right to reach shallow water and crawl through it. Run to a helicopter at the
cave entrance and the level ends.
Assume you have six gems. Climb the
ladder and jump to the middle beam. Go to the top and monkey swing to the gate.
Place the gem and get a secret sound and another door opens. Jump to the
sidewall, slide, grab and shimmy left back to the starting point. Go around
placing all 6 gems in all 6 gates. Each gem placement is a secret. Get to the
bottom floor and run down to the end of the cave. Go to the left and reach a
deep pool of water. Dive in and at the bottom swim into underwater caves on the
left. Follow the caves and finally surface. Pull up to a ledge and jump ledges
counter clockwise until a dead end. Run/jump/grab a pillar to the left. Jump
over the pool to another pillar. Jump to the lighted brown-colored ledge and
enter a tunnel on the left. On the other side you get a cut scene of a
helicopter with Beck written on it. It lands next to another helicopter. You
run down a twisting valley and as you approach the helicopters the level ends.
I had a few gems left over.
[Note] I can often make a single timed run
after a dozen tries to learn the route but this triple timed run was just
hopeless. So I used a hex editor on the save games to get pass the triple timed
runs. Push button #1 and save. Change save game values at 0xA22 and 0xA82 to
0x12 and reload. Go to switch #2 and pull it and save. Change the save game
values at 0x9f2 and 0xA52 to 0x06 and reload. Go to switch #3 and pull it and
save. Change save game values at 0xA0A and 0xA6A to 0x06 and reload. Now you
should be able to get out of gate #2 and pass gate #3 and gate #1 in time to
face the fire emitters. While it is satisfying to make it honestly, there is
also satisfaction in hacking the values to make it as well. [End Note]
