Walkthrough by D&G Productions.

Finding at least one of the 5 Secrets in this level will make the final task, bringing a burning Torch back to the Theatre, a lot easier. The average player will probably end up with 3 maybe 4 Secrets while the Experts will have a chance to get 5 Secrets and an Expert Trophy

The Theatre 1.

Go into the room and grab some Flares from the table, then go into the SE corner to find a lever hidden behind that column. Open the doors NE, step into the hall and find a jump lever behind a plant NE, go down the stairs and N into the library. On a bookcase in the second isle left is another lever. These three levers open the big entrance doors to the S.

The Library, an Important Secret.

Dive into the canal and swim E, climb out onto the square near the wooden house and enter the opening E of the square. A flyby of a Gangster upstairs starts, he is guarding a button and the flyby ends with a screen of the Secret. Be careful not to alarm the Gangster, you can only do this by walking over carpet, the wooden floor parts make too much noise. So save your game and go E. Jump into the isle SE and go right around the bookcase and go back S to the counter. (While you're here, look up and spot the rose grown ceiling grates upstairs, make a note of the position, it is a monkey climb you need later to get to that jump lever).

Then jump SW into the isle and go to the next corner, jump into the next isle and from there to the S side isle and go E, jump from the carpet into the alcove and get Secret #1, a Secret Rose. Now it doesn't matter anymore if the Gangster is alarmed, you've got what you wanted. Look in this isle for a lever on the SW corner of the bookcase and throw it to raise a platform outside. Head back out of the Library to the square.

Crate Puzzle, the Yellow Key and another Secret.

Climb the platform and open the double doors, go into a storage room. Lara will be looking at that hanging crate SE, in the small space under the crate you can just see a Key. Climb the crate W and turn around to get to the top of the hanging crate and find the jump lever up N, now we have to raise this crate to get the Key under it. So climb down and open the trapdoor at the S wall, go down and push the button, it will raise the crate you just climbed. Go back out, get onto the wooden crate and get the Yellow Key.

Now go to the low hanging crate N to use the jump lever there, a door opens in the passage NE, go in and use the pulley to raise a crate in the middle of the storage room (If you used the button below the trapdoor S before you used both jump levers, you have to go back to a save). A Gangster shows up, take care of him and climb the crate in the middle of the room to jump into the E passage. Follow down to where that other Gangster is, shoot him and go use the lever on the N wall, a flyby shows a new area opening up. The button on the S wall has no function anymore it was to raise the block and that is up already.

The jump lever on the W wall is too high to reach and that's why you had to remember that rose monkey climb you can only see from below.

Go back to where you came into the room and grab up to the ceiling go N towards the bookcase and turn left, go to where the ceiling goes up and turn left to the S wall, then right and the next right again to the chandelier, go left around the chandelier and use the jump lever. A trapdoor opens up in the storage room. Go back there and hop over the crates SW, crawl through and up the ladder, backflip with roll and hop back to grab the edge of the duct, shimmy left around the corner and pull up. Follow the duct, hop up left and drop into a passage, follow through and finally open some doors to get Secret #2, a Secret Rose from the balcony. Jump to the roof of the orange house and shimmy all the way to the right.

Do a backflip/roll and grab at the very last moment to land onto the balcony of the storage room. Drop down to the square and enter the door W.

Boulder Puzzle, a Bundle of Keys.

Your goal is to use the levers so the boulders will run, but not too far. They have to be stopped before they hit the red colour. Start with any of the levers and if you do it right the block in front of the last lever will lower. Throw that to release 5 boulders and also stop them before they hit "red".

Now hop onto the ledge N and pick up the Bundle of Keys where the blue rays appeared.

A Timed Swim for Mask Piece 1.

Go out of the boulder room and to the wooden house N, shoot the window and have a look inside. There's a trapdoor in the floor you will have to get to in a Timed swim/run.

Jump in the water and swim SW through a small triangle and save while you use the TIMED underwater lever there (best if you use it once and wait till it resets, then use it again, this way the camera shot will be gone). Roll and swim out left, up to the hole in the square and climb out. Run and jump into the windowsill and do a running jump right towards the (closing) trapdoor. You can still fall through while the trapdoor is closing up (savegame).

Sewers.

Turn around in the tunnel and swim into a small crack to get the Mask Piece 1 there. Turn around, swim through to the sewers and climb out. Shoot the 2 rats.

To the E are closed doors, go W and jump over the water to the opening. Run along the steaming pipes, there is a trapdoor right around the corner. Open it to climb up the ladder and get the Medipack, go around the corner to some nasty Blades.

Nasty Blades.

Best for me was to line up like in this (screenshot), then turn 180 degrees and time the Blade. Do a sideflip to the corner where the second Blade doesn't reach. Then duck and crawl to the Medipack and keep low while crawling back to the "safe" corner (Later I discovered this option; you can also stand as in the screenshot and grab up to the ceiling, go over to the corner where the second blade doesn't reach and drop).

Now hug the wall, face E and sideflip to the right landing on the trapdoor (or wait at the edge of the trapdoor, stand up when the Blade goes away and immediately do a roll).

Use the lever and fall though, get the Mask Piece 2 from the table and combine the 2 pieces to use the Carneval Mask on the pole S (When you look out of the window here, you can just see a window in the wall to the right of the narrow canal, for later). Go behind the plant E and climb up into the duct; follow through left, jump down and a gate opens.  You are back in the sewers. Go left around the corner, back into the room with the steaming pipes and now you can use the switch W. Back to sewers and the doors E are open.

Water Maze.

There are several levers in this maze, turning the current on and off, but only a few have to be operated. This is the shortest route:

Swim in and around the corner, take the second one on the left into a metal pipe (DO NOT TOUCH the lever there) and swim left to find and use a lever near the fan (NE). This opens the trapdoor above. Swim up into the open trapdoor to get some air, swim back W through the pipe, take two right turns and follow a long tunnel to the room with a lever and the opened trapdoor. Throw the lever to change the current in the S end of the sewers and jump into the open trapdoor to swim S. The current will take you, keep on swimming and up into a metal pipe, go into the upper one where you see a fan and follow through some more ducts to where you fall down and end up on a grate.

Beneath the Cemetery, a Torch.

Slide down, grab the Flares there and go into the next space. Spot that small crevice on the left (SW), there is a bell you have to shoot in the adjoining room. Face SW, walk as far as possible to the gap and jump up and down while firing the pistols. Once the bell sounded you can go on further as a gate opened up SW (you are under the graveyard LOL). Find some more Flares behind the box with the bell.

To the S is a pillar with a raising platform behind it; on the pillar is a lever, use it to lower that platform. Step on the platform and use the jump lever on the pillar. A flyby shows a boulder crashing into wooden posts and opening up a hole up to the cemetery as well as an opening into a crypt with levers on 5 tombs. Watch the flyby closely as the last screen will give a clue to which levers to use now. Go to the NW and down the trench where the boulder went into a crypt with 5 levers, a sound will tell you this is the room to which the clue was given.

5 Levers.

As seen in the flyby, the tombs in the cemetery had crosses on top. The levers also have crosses on top, in the flyby the first and third from the left were down. So from left to right, use the #1 and #3 levers and the screen will shake a bit (a block went up in the cemetery, bringing a Cross up to ground level). Go back up the boulder trench E a bit and climb up left, when you look E there should be a higher block in front of you. Jump onto that block and immediately jump again so you'll land on a triangular ledge in the opening to the cemetery. Jump up NE and go S a bit, hop over the fence to the Cross you brought to the surface (near the NW corner of the fence).

Get the Cross down.

The Cross has to go onto that partially excavated tomb below the cemetery, push/pull it onto a trapdoor in the SE, along the S wall. Then push the button to the right of the trapdoor and the Cross goes down. Climb down the ladder in this hole and move the cross around the pillar onto the white tomb, just under that wall torch and it will ignite. Now you have the possibility to light a Torch.

The Torch.

Go into the W side of this excavation and take the first opening to your left (S), at the end you can pick up a Torch. You'll get a screen of that door in the Theatre, that's where you have to bring the burning Torch later.

Take the Torch out this corridor, go ignite it on the wall torch where you placed the Cross. Now go NW and down in the trench the rolling ball made. Once more jump up the ledge N and from the slanted block up through the hole in the ceiling. Go N out of the cemetery to where you come to the centre of town and leave the Torch near the canal somewhere.

Here it was best to split the walkthrough into the "Normal version" and the "Expert version" (Experts scroll down).

Make your choice and follow the rest of your section.

"Normal Version" Gameplay:

Open up a Torch Route.

Go left around the corner and climb the ladder there, up to a balcony where you'll see a yellow keyhole, use the Yellow Key here and open the door for later when you have to bring the Torch here to get a Secret. E of this balcony is another house with a balcony, there's a Secret inside. It's an Expert jump you have to do to get there (look in the Expert section).

Opening up the route to another Secret.

Runjump NE and down onto the red awning on the orange house, jump N to the next and then into the window. Shoot it, go inside and to the right you can open a door with the Keys. That's it for now, return outside, jump down into the canal and climb out W. Go around the corner, up the ladder to the balcony and open the door with the Keys.

Use a Rose to Raise Platforms.

To the left you can place one of the Secret Roses to raise platforms in the canal. The lever will operate the remaining platforms. But you better not use it, because the noise of the platforms will drive you nuts and it's only for the "Expert Version". Go out and get back to where you left the Torch, pick it up and go over the jetty to jump to that platform W. Then left around the corner to the next and then jump to the jetty S. Open the door with the Keys and take the Torch inside with you.

Go in and around the first corner is the block you saw going up in the flyby when you placed the Rose, behind it is the Expert Trophy, you can't get in this normal version. Proceed through this passage.

The Harp Puzzle.

Drop the Torch somewhere safe in this Storage room.

In the room are doors N and up E, you'll have to open them up to get the Torch further through the level. There are 2 Harps that have to go up into the storage room.

First Things First.

Climb to the top of the room, E side and find a cross, move it S onto the trapdoor so you'll both go down one level. Now move it W and to the left onto the next trapdoor. One more push onto a trapdoor and you are on ground floor, a block lowers revealing another lever, move the cross to the wooden tile NE of the lever, so it won't stand in the way later.

Move the Harps.

Move the "E Harp" that is near the entrance (E) on the raising block and use the middle lever (N), this also raises the block where the "Middle Harp" is on. The Harps have to be moved to the floor where the chains of the chandeliers are, there are two golden tiles they have to stand on.

Take the "Middle Harp" and move it S to the white tile against the wall.

The "E Harp" goes two squares to the W and the on the white tile S.

Use right hand lever N, push the "E Harp" onto the white tile S.

Now go to the lever SW and use it. Turn around and move the "Middle Harp" to the W.

Use lever wall SW again and push the "Middle Harp" towards the lever and further to the N onto the white tile.

Go to the left lever N and use it and use the other levers so the positions are down/up/up. Go to the "Middle Harp" W wall and push it N onto the wooden platform.

Go to the "E Harp" and push it S onto the wooden platform. Use the middle lever again (down/down/up) and move the Harps to the next floor.

Be careful not to stop moving the Harp onto the different wood tiles (trapdoors) or else you can do the whole thing over again. You can however push it in one go over the trapdoors so you can push it to the golden tile. So better go get that small medipack SE before you move the harp there. In case the Harp fell down here, move it to the W once and use the middle lever N again so the Harp will be up there once more. The door E opens and the doors down on the ground floor N open up as well (later). Go back down to the ground floor to where you left the Torch.

Optional, Detour for A Secret.

Make your way with the Torch up to the level of the Storage room where the Harps are, go through the door E and follow the passage to the balcony with the Yellow Keyhole (You opened that door on the balcony didn't you?). From the NE corner of the balcony you can jump straight down onto that red awning on the orange house. Jump N and into the windowsill N, go right and to the open door. Jump with the Torch over the chandeliers to the other side, light the wall torch. Now get Secret #3, a Secret Rose where the block lowered next to you.

Jump back over the chandeliers and go to the window at the canal, jump to the awning and run down W onto the jetty below. Jump over the platforms to the S and go back to the Storage room. From the open doors N, shoot the window in the house N. Then jump in there with the Torch, then go up into the window E and shoot it to jump left around the corner, you are now at the Theatre once more.

The Theatre 2.

Go up the stairs and light the wall torch, the door opens. Drop the Torch, through the door and slide down the first slope (here you have the opportunity to get another Secret, but it is more of an "Expert one, you can have a look at the end of the Expert section).

Boss Fight.

Slide backwards down the dark (second) slope and grab the edge as you slide off. Then drop and jump to get to a safe spot of the floor. Kill Jill, duck close to her and fire pistols till she drops and the level ends. Mission accomplished.

"Expert Version" Gameplay:

Open up a Torch Route and an Expert Secret.

After leaving the Torch near the canal, go left around the corner and climb the ladder there, up to a balcony where you'll see a yellow keyhole, use the Yellow Key here and open the door for later when you have to bring the Torch here. E of this balcony is another house with a balcony, there's a Secret inside. It's an Expert jump. but we provided a save in case you might want to have a look.

Look NE and jump onto the far corner (so, in the alley) with a roll and immediately jump again with a right curve so you will just go along the corner of the wall and grab the balcony (screenshot & savegame). Open the double doors and inside is Secret #3, a Secret Rose and Flares.

Opening up the route to another Secret.

Go out to the balcony and runjump to the roof of the orange house again. Shimmy left till you can drop onto the red awning below, jump N to the next and then into the window. Shoot it, go inside and to the right you can open a door with the Keys. That's it for now, return outside, jump down into the canal and climb out on the jetty W. Climb the ladder around the corner and open the door with the Keys.

Platform Jumps. (Video help)

Do not place the Rose, we are going to throw the lever, platforms start moving up and down in the canal below. Dive into the canal and swim to the SE jetty, climb up and get the Torch. Turn N and jump to the left hand corner of the platform, then a sideflip left to the jetty on the N side of the canal. (It is possible to jump straight from this side to the other without using the platform, but that is for you to find out.)

Run to the W side and line up for the next series of jumps, try to land on the first platform in a way that you can do a standjump to the next, landing just over the edge and run with a left curve to jump (without bumping into the wall) to the next platform. You'' land on the first of two platforms and just when the first goes down you should be able to run onto the second, curve a bit left to jump to the fourth and wait a tiny bit before you standjump to the last, a running jump with a right hand curve gets you onto the jetty (savegame).

The Expert Trophy.

Open the door with the Keys and follow in, just around the corner is the Expert Trophy behind a gate. Light the wall torch and collect your Trophy. Proceed through the passage.

The Harp Puzzle.

In the big storage room are doors N and up E, you'll have to open them up to get the Torch further through the level. There are 2 Harps that have to go up into the storage room.

Leave the Torch near the big doors N for now.

Detour for a Secret.

Make your way with the Torch up to the level of the Storage room where the Harps are, go through the door E and follow the passage to the balcony with the Yellow Keyhole (You opened that door on the balcony didn't you?).

From the NE corner of the balcony you can jump down onto that red awning on the orange house. Jump N and into the windowsill N and take the Torch inside, go right to the open door. Jump with the Torch over the chandeliers to the other side, light the wall torch and get Secret #4, a Secret Rose where the block lowered. Jump back to the chandeliers and go to the window at the canal, jump to the second awning and from there jump to the awning W and go onto the balcony.

2 Routes to continue:

1- Go into the open door and place one of your Secret Roses to the left. Go out, hop down from the awning onto the jetty below and use the now raised "steady" platforms to get to the jetty S and enter the passage to the Storage room again.

2- Go to the W end of the balcony and jump SW onto that wooden structure and from this corner you can run W from the lower part with a left curve into the opening below (This is the opening to the Storage room you opened up before).

Shoot the window N, jump in there with the Torch, then go up into the window E and shoot it to jump left around the corner, you are now at the Theatre once more.

The Theatre 2.

Go upstairs and light the wall torch, the door opens. Drop the Torch and slide down the first slope, an explosion is heard.

Final Secret, an Expert one.

If you want to get the last Secret; jump back up and go out of the Theatre, the whole city got ruined. Turn left and hop onto the fallen brick wall (camera changes), slide from the other side and jump so you will land on a slanted piece of wall, jump again to grab the crack in the wall. Shimmy left to a ladder and go up (if you have trouble getting on the ladder, release Ctrl for a moment and try again).

Behind you is a window you will have to get into (the one I showed you when you placed the Mask before). Go up to this point (screenshot) and do a backflip/roll, steer hard left and use Ctrl at the last moment. Could be you get there in one go after a few tries, but it can also be Lara will bounce up and down near the edge of the opening, hold Ctrl, left and forward while she bounces and you will get there too.

Grab Secret #5, a Secret Rose and open the doors. Dive into the water, turn around and follow the narrow tunnel to where you end up in the hall of the Theatre.

Go back up the stairs, through the door N and get down, slide down the dark (second) slope backwards and grab the edge as you slide off. Then drop and jump to get to a safe spot of the floor. Kill Jill, duck close to her and fire pistols till she drops and the level ends. Mission accomplished.
