TR2 - THE DATA BASE by BRENNA
[Note] The installation instructions were not clear to
me. The author stated that this is level one of nine. I installed the full TR2
game with a NoCD patch. Then renamed
"data.tr2" to "wall.tr2" and copied it to the data directory.
Then started a new game. I could not get the level to
work with TR2 Great Wall Demo. I got an “Out of Memory” error. [End note]
You start in
a closed room. Turn to the left and walk towards a closed tall door and the
door opens. Shoot an armed thug (1) and a dog (2) that enter. Pick up automatic
pistol clips (1) from the thug. Go out the door and see a building with
a key lock. Step on the platform in the left corner of the area and get a cut
scene of a small door opening. Return to the room you left and go to the right
to enter the small door. You enter in a large room with two large stacks of
boxes. Climb the green boxes and climb down into a hole in the middle of the
stack. Pick up the automatic pistols (2), automatic
pistols clips (3), small medipack (4), and a gold dragon (5)
for secret #1. Climb out back into the room.
Climb the
stack of brown boxes. Climb down into the hole in the stack at the corner wall.
Press a pushbutton on the side of a box. Wait there until a thug (3) with a bat appears.
Shoot him
and pick up two Uzi clips (6,7).
Climb out back into the room. Shoot an armed thug (4) and three rats (5-7). The armed
thug drops M16 clips (8). A trap door has opened at the corner wall in front of the
brown boxes. Dive into the water and follow the underwater tunnel. Pull up into
a corridor. Pick up three shotgun shells
(9-11), two automatic pistols clips (12,13), and a small medipack (14).
Carefully go
forward and shoot a guard (8) on the box near
the exit. Shoot a thug (9) with bat just below
the exit. Shoot an armed thug (10) on the far
side of the room. Pick up the Guardhouse Key (15)
from the dead guard on the box. The thug with the bat had automatic pistol clips (16). The armed thug had flares (17) and a small medipack (18). There is a
man sitting on a chair. He can be ignored. The floor flickered from solid to
ice and you can see sharks in the water below. Ignore that also. Exit the room
and swim back to the box room. Exit to the start room and go outside the tall
door.
Use
the key in the key lock and the door in the vehicle shop opens. Enter the
building to see a man sitting at the back and many snowmobiles on the floor.
They all work and I moved them all. As you enter the door, there are two
snowmobiles on your immediate right. Move the snowmobile facing the desk ahead
a little. Get off the snowmobile and pick up the silver dragon (19) for secret #2 that was underneath it. Get on the
snowmobile again and drive through the desk. A door opens in the back right
corner of the room behind the desk. Drive into the small room and another door
opens in the corner. Get off the snowmobile and hop up into the open door.
Light
a flare and follow the tunnel. At the first junction take the right branch
tunnel. Straight ahead is a dead-end. Follow the new tunnel and a door opens as
you approach. Drop down into a cafe with some suspicious looking patrons. Go
left and out the door into the outside snow. Over the snow hill to your left
are seven cars. None of the cars seem to be drivable. There are guns and ammo
on the cars but it cannot be picked up. Run to the right and up the hill into
the wide corridor. There are shallow trenches in this area, which you fall into
but cause no harm. Just go straight until you see a section where the corridor
narrows. Drop into the third trench and run to the right. Follow the trench and
run down and the up a small ramp. You should see a horizontal stripped building
ahead of you. Go around the building and see a sign stating "End of
race". Pick up the small medipack (20), grenade
launcher (21), two grenades (22,23), and a jade dragon (24) for secret #3. A door opens in the upper wall ahead of
you. Enter this new tunnel.
Light
a flare and run forward. The tunnel has two branches. Take the left branch and
go to the end. Climb the wall and pull up into an outdoor area. Save the game.
Shoot a dog (11) and a thug (12) with a bat. Pick up the Rusty Key (25) from the body of the thug. The thug may
land in a bad position where you cannot pick up the key. Then reload and shoot the
thug somewhere else in the flat area and not on the bricks. Climb down the
ladder and run back through the tunnel. This time take the other branch tunnel.
A door opens as you approach it. You drop into a room with a closed door and
key lock on the opposite wall. Use the key and the door opens. Step into the
room and see many flashing screens and many pushbuttons. Run into the central
part of the room and the level ends.

Turn a bit left and run in the hole to find a switch. Pull it and climb again
out, then kill a thug (1) and jump up the stairs. Go ahead and right into the
library. There go right and climb an invisible wall there, then backflip on the high floor. Drop in the hole and go through
the broken windows. In the maze go right and find a key in the keyhole. Back in
the last room insert it right to get into a courtyard. Turn and find a ladder
right, climb it bit higher than the ledge, then drop and immediately hold
Action, then shimmy left and climb up. There is no key left for the door so
this is the end.

Absolve the Assault Course (when jumping to the balcony you can find 7x Flares)
and at the end go left through the door and to the mansion. Push the button;
you might notice that the general architecture is still there but a few things
and rooms have changed. If you want you can go in the swimming room - a button there opens a door in the first floor - and do all
things that usually can be done in the "Lara's Home" levels.
