CHAMBERS OF TINNOS

Level by Osvaldo

Walkthrough by Treeble

Lara slides into a cave... Collect the flares nearby and head through the crawlspace on the right side of this room. There are some shells lying in a corner near the pond, but what you're looking for is underwater; swim through the opening and get out by a tall ladder. The camera changes to indicate another ladder further up, so backflip with grab to keep working your way up to the top.

The lever at the top opens a hidden door in the first room, so backtrack there, minding a scorpion along the way. Beyond the door, hop into the opening on the W wall and follow the path to the end, collecting a small medipack along the way as well as dealing with another scorpion. Jump over the spike pit for another lever, then return to the previous room and head down the S pathway to find the trapdoor you've just lowered.

Drop to the pond far below and swim towards the N wall to find the SHOTGUN near some rocks. Swim through the E passage to find an underwater lever at the end and quickly return back to surface. One of the vases near the double doors houses a small medipack, get it. Before going through the gate you've just opened, take notice of a ledge on the opposite end of the doors: we'll be back later, for a secret.

Going through the cave corridor you'll end up at the end of a waterfall. The water current will press you against a grate and there's no escape from there, so don't fall in. Hop and swing across until you are up close with the waterfall. Before heading through the N passage, you can jump to the flat bottom for some flares and shotgun ammo.

Run up the slanted passage and through the crawlspace at the end and you're back in a familiar place. Grab the crack on the far wall dead ahead and shimmy left around the corner until you can pull up, watching as an eager scorpion chases your shadow down below. When you stand up, a tiny wasp attacks you. Hop over to the top of the doorway and shimmy to the left end, push the button and you are granted entry to a grand hallway.

On your way to the double doors on the E end of the hallway, you'll notice a ladder just out of reach on the right side. We'll get to it in a few minutes, don't worry. From the closed double doors you can go either way as each wing of the temple is independent, but I'd suggest visiting the North chambers first.

Along the way there's a safe pit which will be useful for dispatching skeletons. You are before four closed gates, each tagged with an elemental tile above it, and if you run behind the wall you'll notice four mask receptacles. A lever in a niche on the E wall lowers the trapdoor which is blocking your access to the levers above, but first we need to find the proper combinations, so throw the lever on the NW corner to open a tiny gate on the hallways we came from.

Crawl through the open gate and sprint down the next hallway, jumping with grab to dodge a boulder while also avoiding a deadly head bump. The next room, with the shallow mud, has all four lever combinations on the wall—each circle representing which levers need to be activated— and all of them are transcribed below. Most importantly, we can now take a detour for that secret.

On the south end of this chamber, behind the rock in the center, is a button. This is a timed run and it's a bit tight, so save your game just before pushing it so you can quickly reload in case of failure. Press the button, hop back, jump onto said rock and take a running jump steering to the solid rocky ledge on the left side. Quickly sprint up the boulder slope and through the crawlspace, head right and find the raised block. Before it lowers, grab and climb the ladder to the top of the archways.

Run all the way to the SE corner to find the SERPENT STONE. Safety drop to the lower floor and when you get to the closed double doors, turn right and back to the previous pond. Swim to the ledge on the opposite side and crawl into the passage to find the receptacle for the Stone. The door nearby opens and grants you a few supplies as SECRET #1.

Return to the North end of the hallways and climb up the ladder to find the string of five levers which operate the gates below. As you'd expect, behind each of them is a challenge tied to the tagged element ultimately rewarding you with a Mask, and you can do them in whichever order you desire.

FIRE (lever positions, from the left to the right: down - up - down - up - down): Jump over the molten lava carefully as you move further into the chamber. You reach a row of four buttons, the glyphs around each symbolize the food chain when read from top to bottom. The only correct answer is the third button, which opens the gate housing the first OCEANIC MASK. Wait until the fires go off before getting it, then make your way back to the five levers the same way you came.

EARTH (down - up - down - down - up): Cross the mud to the opening on the E wall, then climb up the blocks and jump to the ledge ahead. Turn left and grab the crack of the next ledge, shimmying to the right until you can pull yourself up. Jump to the opening on the SW for a ladder. On the next level, jump over the gaps towards the rocks on the SE, from the top of which you can grab a crack and shimmy to the right, around a handful of corners, until you can finally hoist up.

Continue your ascent to a ledge with two moving wall traps. Time your strides carefully to get by, running at an angle as you need to do a long jump with grab from the second wall trap to a safe ledge on the opposite side. Inside the next hallway is the second OCEANIC MASK. An earthquake takes place, removing the floor from the previous room and we now need to work our way back in safety.

Instead of going the long way past the wall traps, you can do a running jump towards the E wall to land on top of the blocks at the cost of an insignificant health loss. Jump to the ledge N and drop through the opening in the middle to land on a slope. Don't worry, you'll land safely on a flat column a level below, again losing very little health, and from there you can jump to the opening on the SW corner. Sprint back up to return to the five levers.

AIR (down - down - up - up - down): The wind howls as you enter what seems a bit of a maze-like area. Proceed E to find a deep pit and use the dangling ropes to reach the ledge on the other end. Slide down and crouch when you reach the middle of the corridor to avoid the blade traps.

You reach a tall room and you need to work your way to the top. Pull out the block with the carved face to reach the ledge above and repeat the process to reach new heights. The next ledge has a devious "half" block you can pull back in order to reach the highest ledge. Throw the lever there and quickly hop to the raised trapdoor to activate a second ledge before the trapdoor falls (sideflip to the right to avoid your own doom!).

On the bottom of the room, the gate is now open, so head in and claim the third OCEANIC MASK upstairs. Throw the nearby lever to open a quick shortcut to the entrance of this chamber and head back to the levers.

WATER (up - down - down - down - up): Dive into the water and follow the crystals to the NW corner where you can find an underwater lever hidden behind a block. It opens a gate through the passage S, through which you can also find an air pocket to fill your lungs. In the next room, again swim to the NW corner for another lever, then swim back to the previous room and through the opposite passage on the N wall to locate the open trapdoor.

You arrive at an area with two pools, ignore the empty one for now and head to the one in the back. Beyond the corridor to the E, past a sliding wall trap, is a floor switch. Throw it to open the gate just above the empty pool. Mind the spike pits and throw another floor switch to transfer water from one pool to the other, then dive in, pull the underwater lever and get your hands on the final OCEANIC MASK from the open gate on the now empty pool. Climb back out and make your way back to the chamber with the five levers.

It's time to place the four masks on the receptacles in the chamber hidden by the wall beneath the levers. They raise the nearby gate and you can find the first STAR KEY 2 on a pedestal. We can work our way to the South wing now, blasting the skeleton that raises as we get out of this area into that pit we saw near the double doors.

The South end branches off into two directions. We need a key to open the gates on the left side, so head right for now. Shoot the vases for some ammo and throw the lever to open a door on the E corner, while also summoning a skeleton. Luckily, there is a pit nearby. Head through the open door and up the slope.

Clear the gaps and follow the ledge to the next room, then drop back and grab the edge to shimmy past the two blockades. Hop into a small alcove and investigate the reach-in hole to open the gate near the lever below. Get back down there to find a lever at the end of the hallway which opens a nearby gate.

As you enter the area with the movable block, you'll be ambushed by a handful of scorpions. Make short work of them and go through the side passage to the N to find a lever. This opens a gate on the upper level, but don't climb the complete ladder. Instead, drag the block around so you can climb up the out-of-reach ladder and crawl beneath the open gate to another tall room, but we need to work our way down this time around.

Lower yourself to the bridge directly below you and climb up the ledges to a crawl space in the SW corner to find a lever and raise a few trapdoors on the opposite end of the bridge. Get down onto the trapdoor and you'll notice a monkey swing beneath the bridge, but it's not safe just yet! Instead, run and jump across the three trapdoors to a platform in the back and down a ladder to the bottom.

As you land, you'll notice a button just beneath the ladder. It raises a nearby trapdoor for a brief time, so quickly step on the block nearby, jump to the trapdoor and throw the lever to disarm the spike trap on the monkey swing above. If the trapdoor hasn't lowered yet, turn slightly at an angle to the right and jump and grab the invisible crack just above the ridge on the wall and shimmy all the way to the right.

Crawl inside the passage above the vase and you'll be inside a small maze of sorts. Follow the path marked by crystal shards on the walls and you'll eventually reach a dark pit—the one we swung over in the Air chamber— light a flare to spot an opening on the opposite wall, mind the flame and steam traps and activate a lever to open a hidden door in the maze you just came from.

It's closer to the original entrance, so follow the crystal shards back and you just might spot a corridor heading N with some crystals pegged on the side wall. Loop around the corridor to find a small green-lit chamber with a button inside. No camera clue this time, but this has opened up a door in the hallways for a secret we'll get to on our way out.

Right now, get back out of this maze, through the crawlspace and climb the ladder back up to the trapdoors, then hop across to the monkey swing and throw the lever at the alcove in the end to open the double doors below. Safety drop to the ground floor and head inside. In the area with the shallow pond guarded by a tiny wasp, go to the SW corner behind the bench and push the grey block all the way in to open a door way back where you were ambushed by the scorpions.

Backtrack there, by climbing all the way to the top of the tall room and crawling through the passage just above the bridge, drop to the lower level and now climb the complete ladder by the open gate to find the newly revealed ULI KEY inside a small chamber. Down and through the open gate to return to the hallways and now use the Key in the opposite branch of the South wing.

Push the centerpiece onto the marked tile North and sprint down the winding tunnel as a boulder rolls behind you. Be careful as there are two molten lava pits along the way. At the bottom, grab the first STAR KEY 1 and a cutscene combined with an audio cue will show a boulder in position. Save your game and immediately sprint back to the top, making it back to the previous room with time to spare before the second boulder drops.

Now, move the centerpiece to the next marked tile on the floor to open the next trap gauntlet. A set of spinning blades, a couple of flame emitters and some break-away tiles later, you get the second STAR KEY 1. Return to the room with the centerpiece and place both of these new keys on the wall to claim the one that matters, the second STAR KEY 2.

Enjoy the triumph music as you return to the hallways. When you turn North, locate the open passage on the right side just between the third and fourth archways to finally claim that SECRET #2, some goodies which you have to loot from ninja dudes. Return to the hall of archways and head North until you find the double doors. Place the keys on the receptacles to gain entry.

Grab the LOST RELIC from the altar and step into the warp beam behind the open door. The camera flies through the level as you are brought back to the surface level. Kill the two wasps, press the button and climb out through the trapdoor to bring this adventure to an end.
