ESCAPING THE WEREWOLF

The N gate opens to release the eponymous werewolf, so you're under attack from the moment the adventure begins. Since you're playing as young Lara you have no weapons (or flares, for that matter), so running for your life will be the name of the game. Don't leave here, however, before taking the LIBRARY KEY from the nearby skeleton. Run through the S passage past the swinging blade traps and go up the stairs either right or left. Continue quickly past the hanging spikeball before the blades are activated.

 

In the room at the top of the stairs, hop into the water hole on the left for a small medipack. You're also temporarily safe here from the pursuing werewolf. At an opportune moment, pull out N and angle left to run up the NE (yes, another backward compass) stairs. You'll eventually reach an upper area with a jutting ledge. Jump to the SW corner to find the receptacle for your Library Key. The W gate opens, but if you have time before the werewolf arrives you can jump to the left part of the N ledge for another small medipack.

 

Enter the library and go to the back right corner to find a book switch that raises a cage on the jutting ledge. Return there, climb the cage and back flip into an opening. Turn around and push the face button to hear the sound of a gate opening. Get back down, hang from the ledge and safety drop to the room with the two water holes. Exit N via the opened gateway to an outdoor area where it's raining, turn right into a hallway and take an immediate right to go up some steps. Continue S past a wooden fence to a lake.

 

Jump into the water, loop around left and find the triangular opening in the N wall. Swim inside to find a ceiling lever. Pull it to cause a platform to jut out over the lake. Pull out of the lake just above the opening, hop up left and take a running jump S to grab the platform. Pull up and jump into the water on the other side of the dam. Pick up the large medipack underneath the building, note the closed gate and pull out onto the triangular ledge on the E side of the building. Pull up left into the opening.

 

Hop down W to find a floor lever and push it to open the gate you noted earlier. Go there, swim inside and follow the passage to an opening on your left, where you'll find the STABLE KEY. At the end of the passage is air hole that you can't pull out of, so return to the lake and find the floor hole between the E building supports. Swim down to where a door has opened and grab the SILVER CROSS for SECRET #1.

 

Surface, pull out N and jump into the water on the N side of the dam. Pull out at the same spot you did earlier, hop up left and return past the wooden fence to the previous area where the werewolf is undoubtedly waiting. Turn right into the W opening and follow around to a room with a giant cigar cutter. The hole next to it has a breaktile at the bottom, underneath which is a spike trap. Nearby is another spike trap. Turn left (N) in front of the giant cigar cutter, hop over another booby-trapped breaktile and continue to the back right corner to find a floor lever (cut scene of an iris door).

 

Turn around, head into the SW alley and hop back as a blade is triggered. Go back to find a breaktile at the end of the alley. This one is safe, however, so allow Lara to fall down so she can pick up another SILVER CROSS (which isn't added to your inventory, although it appears in your stats) for SECRET #2. Pull back into the alley, loop around left and run past the giant cigar cutter to the left (being mindful of that spike trap in the corner).

 

Follow the wooden flooring to your left (don't go right or you'll be crushed by a falling boulder), find the floor lever and push it to move aside that iris wheel you saw in the previous cut scene. Enter the short SE alley and pull up right into the alcove for a small medipack.  Go back the way you came, sprinting E at the end of the wooden flooring to get past the falling boulder, turn left at the wall and get past two swinging blades (after grabbing a small medipack) to where the iris wheel rolled away. Hop down into the trench, where the werewolf won't follow, and go around to an intersection with a booby-trapped breaktile in the center.

 

Hop to the alcove on your left for a small medipack, hop out NW, loop around right and run quickly to the S wall ahead of the blade trap. Take a step back, pick up the YARD KEY and go back around the way you came. Pull out of the trench, run past the waiting werewolf and the two swinging blades, side flip over the giant cigar cutter and exit E to the hallway. Hop up into the alcove on the right and use the Yard Key to open the S gate behind you.

 

Get in there and slide down to an outdoor area overlooking a pit. Get down to the bottom of the pit and find the triangular floor hole. Drop down, enter the crawl space and follow to a SILVER CROSS for SECRET #3. Get back out (the exit jump may be a bit tricky) and climb out of the pit. Jump to grab the W slope, shimmy right around two corners and pull up in front of an opening.

 

Hop and slide down to the floor, go to the NW corner and pull up into the W opening. Hop down the other side onto a ledge, jump into the water and locate a ceiling wall switch near the N wall. When you pull it a boulder rolls down to smash open a door. Surface, pull out and before entering the building jump up to the top of the boulder ramp. Hop across to the NW block and use the Stable Key to open the door to your left.

 

Go inside, loop around right for a large medipack and jump up S to grab the slope. Pull up, take a rolling back flip and grab the facing slope. Shimmy left to the wall and back flip onto a ledge with a floor lever. Push it to open the door immediately below you (as well as a gate that didn't show in the flickering cut scene). Drop to the floor and enter the small room for a SILVER CROSS and SECRET #4.

 

Go back outside, slide down the boulder ramp and enter the S building. Enter the E crawl space and drop down the other side to find the gate you opened with the floor lever. Go inside to find another floor lever, which opens the adjacent gate. Reverse roll, loop around left and save your game before stepping on the timed trigger tile. The exit gate far away is lifted, and the route there is somewhat complicated as described below. You may wish to save periodically along the way.

 

Run forward, go through the crawl space, exit the building left, jump up the boulder ramp and near the top jump left directly into the opening (without grabbing and pulling up), loop around a bit left and hop up onto the SE corner block, reverse roll and take a running jump NW to a dark ledge, pull up left and hop down right into the water, swim back around to the building, pull up right onto the dam, jump into the water on the other side and swim across and pull out, hop up left and go around the wooden fence to the hallway, turn left and hop up onto the block and through the timed gate before it closes. When you get through successfully the level ends.
