FIRE CAVES

STARTING AREA

 

After the long slide you are in a dark cave with a small lake, go to the NE corner and use "Ctrl + Up arrow" to grab the crack from the right side, shimmy left and jump back with twist (Down arrow) to grab the edge of the high opening at your back, pull the switch to open a door somewhere and safely drop to ground floor. Now go through the W opening, grab the crack to your left and use the ledge jump (Up arrow) to reach the upper edge, pick up the small medipack, go through the crawlspace and drop into a cave where a dog will attack.

 

CAVE WITH FALLING BOULDERS

 

Pick up the much-needed flares in the niche to your left and continue down the ramp, turn right (you need a gem if you go left) and in this new cave take a standing jump to grab the crack in the E wall, shimmy left and around the corner until you can hoist up (don't approach to the corner), wait a bit to avoid the falling boulder; grab the crack, shimmy left and use the ledge jump to go up to the niche above, roll and take a running jump S-SW to the next ledge but when you land, immediately roll and grab the edge to avoid another falling boulder; now take a running jump to the E rock and wait for another falling boulder, jump to the ledge where the rock fallen and take a standing jump to grab the crack in the wall, shimmy right and around two corners, hoist up but immediately jump back and grab the edge to avoid another falling boulder; hoist up again and take a standing jump to grab the next crack, shimmy right until you can hoist up and pick up the FIRE GEM on the plinth. Jump into the lake below and explore the waters to get a small medipack and uzi clips; leave this cave S and engage an ahmet.

 

BACK TO THE STARTING ROOM

 

Continue S and to your right you'll find the receptacle for the gem; when you place it you get a camera shot of a door opening in the starting area. Now the way back is closed, but a trapdoor opened in  the hole in the floor so drop there and jump into the water below; quickly swim E to a dry area where you can shoot the crocodiles and pick up a large medipack; take a swim again, pick up the nearby shotgun shells and look for a niche near the NW corner with a ceiling lever to open the exit door in the dry area. Run up the short ramp and crouch in the left or right corners to let the rolling boulder pass over your head, advance a bit and stop onto the breakable tile to drop into the water below, pick up the shotgun shells and surface in the starting room.

 

WOODEN BRIDGE AREA

 

The open door is in the E wall; use the nearby block to climb there, slide and jump over the lava to the niche in front of you; jump back, grab the edge and shimmy left until you can hoist up and find yourself in a large area with a wooden bridge. Jump N over the nearby slope and take a long running jump N to the rocks next to the bridge, cross to the W side and shoot a bat.

 

Detour for a secret: turn left and take a running jump to the S rocks; jump to the top (beware of the sloped part) and take another running jump (low ceiling) to the S crawlspace with the SECRET #1: a small medipack. Go back to the bridge the way you came.

 

Pick up the shotgun shells near the corner and drop/grab the edge facing W, shimmy left or right until you see the opening below, drop/grab the edge of the crawlspace and go inside to get shotgun shells and pull a jumpswitch to open a door somewhere. Go back up using the ledge jump. Now take W wide passage, pick up the REVOLVER in the dark corner near the entrance and run up the narrow corridor to find the open door.

 

ROOM WITH ROTATING FIRES

 

In this lava room with the rotating fires pick up the shotgun shells to your left; there are 4 ledges with a bird sign on the lava and you'll need to step on all four tiles to open the door at the other side of the room, so try to do it clockwise timing the moving fires. In the E and W ledges if you stay next to the walls you are safe. Once the door is open, time the smashing walls and pull the jumpswitch to open a door in the bridge area; go back out, pick up the small medipack and the shotgun shells and time the fires again to cross to the other side.

 

LAVA CAVES

 

Locate the open door in the N wall, climb there and go up the ramp taking small jumps back to trigger a boulder; once you hear it quickly run outside and drop onto the left side of the ledge to avoid the rock. Go back up the ramp to find another lava room.

 

Spot the giant bug at the other side of the pit, draw the revolver and take a good use of it. Take a long running jump NW to the ledge with the different texture (losing a bit of health), from the SW corner of this tile take a standing jump W-SW to grab the crack in the wall, shimmy right all what you can and use the ledge jump to grab the edge above, go inside the crawlspace to pick up revolver ammo and pull a switch to raise a trapdoor outside and retract spikes in a passage, go outside and slide down onto the raised trapdoor.

 

If you want some extra pickups and the last secret, continue reading; if not, skip the next paragraphs and jump to ***

 

From the flat ledge next to the trapdoor take a running jump with grab to land into the opening in N wall, pick up the large medipack at the end of the passage, grab the crack to your left and take a backflip with twist to grab another crack at your back, repeat this maneuver two more times until you can shimmy right and around the corner and hoist up at the top of the room. You are now in the place where the giant bug was; jump SE to the next flat ledge and to the next one where the SHOTGUN is.

 

For the secret: light a flare and run off this ledge in a SW direction to land onto a floating translucent ledge down below, from her jump to the S opening to get the SECRET #2: a large medipack and 2 X shotgun shells. Take a standing jump onto the transparent ledge and another jump onto the raised trapdoor.

From the middle of the E side of the raised trapdoor, take a standing jump E to the steep slope down next to the lava attached to the E wall, slide/grab the edge and shimmy right to the flat ledge; now take a running jump S to the opening with the retracted spikes.

 

PASSAGE WITH FIRE EMITTERS

 

In the fiery passage with the intermittent fires you already know what to do: jump to grab the crack to your left, cross timing the fire, jump back with twist to grab the next crack and continue the same way until you reach the safe ledge at the end. In the next room shoot a giant scorpion, pick up the small medipack next to the S wall and the shotgun shells near the E opening. Two keys needed and two openings so I took this E opening first.

 

FIRST GATE KEY

 

Jump into the water and take the UW passage to your left to find a ceiling switch to pull; back to the lake turn left and continue to the end to find the open door. When you step onto the first tile the fires turn off and also a door opens at the end of the passage, but all is timed so take running jumps onto the blocks trying not to stop and a last running jump at the end (no grab) to get the first GATE KEY. Go back the way you came and in the lake area (now a lava lake) take a running jump to grab the edge of the first block, another running jump to grab the crack in the E wall, shimmy right to the next safe block, another running jump to the crack in the W wall, shimmy left and around the corner and jump back onto the safe ledge behind. Go inside the crawlspace and at the end you can stand up; take a last running jump with a left curve to land onto the entrance ledge.

 

SECOND GATE KEY

 

Now I went through the W opening; there's a movable block in front of you and patterned tiles on the floor with the bird sign, most of them protected with spikes, so move the block onto the only free tile to retract the spikes in the next and so on until you place the block onto the last tile and the door opens. Shoot a couple of demigods and pick up the second GATE KEY one of them drops. Pick up the revolver ammo in the corner, go back to the main corridor and use the keys to open the gate; go inside and pick up the Ankh to finish the level.
