Quabbat's Catacomb (Catacombe di Quabbat)

[Note] If I used the supplied *.dat files, the level would always crash in one room. If I used the normal *.dat file and started a new game as Catacombs, it seem to work better. However, make many save games, as the level will still crash and some savegame areas cannot be recalled. [End note]


You start facing a pool with a closed door in the pool and on the north ledge. Dive in and pick up the crowbar (Piede di porco) from the center and the north ledge door opens. Pull up to the ledge and shoot the vases for a revolver. Go to the end of the tunnel and face many grid-like walls over water. Dive into the water and swim south into an underwater tunnel. Follow and pull up into a room and a door opens in the east wall. Go forward and two skeletons awake. There is a split in the tunnel and a closed door to the left side. Go into the right side and the skeletons and slash at you while you are stuck in flyby showing beetles pouring from the ground. Starting running around the room and shoot the vases while the skeletons and beetles follow you. Run back to the pool and beetles will fall in. Now go back to the tunnel and enter the open left side. Drop into the depression where the skeletons cannot get you. If you get lucky, only a few beetles followed you there. Notice a gem on a fiery pedestal.

Go to the north-east corner and press a face button. The door beside the button opens. Enter and pass a closed door. Go to the end of the tunnel and go up a ramp. At the end, I went left to the end wall and a spike ball fell but missed me and rolled to the right and into a hole. Go to the dark area where the spike ball landed and light a flare. Climb a ladder into an alcove and get secret #1 and pick up the laser sight (Mirino laser). Get down and go south from where the spike ball fell. Climb the south wall and pull up into a tunnel. Follow up the ramps and finally drop down on the ledge that is above the room with the beetles. Move the tower from the west wall onto the black circle at the east wall. Safety drop to the floor and enter the open east door. Follow the tunnel to the right and pull up onto a ledge over a pool.

Go east to see blocks to the south-east alcove. If you fall into the water, you can climb back up to the east onto a low ledge. Climb the blocks and jump south to the next ledge. Enter a tunnel in the east wal and follow it to a room with a deadly water filled trench. Go to the south end and into a tunnel to press a face button. You get a cut scene of a door opening. Return to the ledge over the pool and jump to grab the ledge in the south-west. Enter the open door and use the floor lever. You get a long flyby of doors opening in underwater tunnels. Dive into the water and swim into the underwater tunnel in the west wall. You arrive back in the starting room. Pull up and go down the north tunnel. Get into the water but this time part of the wall is missing. Go to the north-west and see a closed door. Pull up onto a ledge and pick up the Mechanical Scarab (Scarabeo meccanico). The underwater door opens, so swim into the tunnel. You swim into a large room with electrical arcs. As you enter there is a closed door to your right. However, swim to the west wall and swim up a shaft into another room.

Continue west and enter a tunnel hidden behind a pillar. Follow the tunnel to another water room. Jump onto the platform in the water. Use the floor lever and get a cut scene of the gem but now the fire is out. Drop into the water and swim into the north-east opening. Swim east to a T-junction. Swim north and at a junction, keep swimming north. The tunnel changes to go east and at a junction, swim north again. At the first junction, swim east and continue east to find a tunnel with face pictures where the water current carries you for a while. There are no more branches so just keep swimming the tunnels until you can pull up. The door opens for you so exit and go to the right to pick up the Horseman's Gem (Gemma del cavaliere) from the pedestal. You get a cut scene of an underwater door opening. You can use the revolver and laser sight to shoot the heads of the skeletons if they annoy you too much.

Exit by the south-west door and go west to fall into the water. Swim back to the place you got the Mechanical Scarab and swim west into the tunnel. When you enter the large room, turn to the right and enter the now open other door. Follow to a junction and turn right and right again to surface. Pull up to a ledge and pick up the Winding Key (Chiave attorcigliata). Pull up into an east tunnel. Use the scarab and key to trigger the spikes in the tunnel. Go to the end and pick up the scarab and key. Climb the pole and back flip to the east. Go north and drop into a wide corridor. Run down the corridor and watch out for steam vents and a wraith. Use the Horseman's Gem and the doors open. There are two bird statues on the other side of the door. Hang around to get of the wraith or just go to the west to slide down a slope. Dive into the water and swim underneath the ledge to see an open door. Swim into the north underwater tunnel and the water current carries you to the end of the level.
