THE ORDEAL

This level doesn’t have a compass!

Lara starts with a slide and after the flyby some dogs are howling. Slide down and kill the dogs. Straight ahead seems to be a door and there are four openings to a pool. Before you dive in, shoot the crocs in the water.

Dive in at the left side and at the first pillar look up, there is an underwater lever. The door at the end is open now so enter. Run straight ahead, the other door will open when Lara is near, shoot the vase and pick up the flares.

You are in a room with a small pool in the middle. When Lara enters she keeps looking at a certain point straight ahead. On the right and left are ladders and a bit further is an opening. On the left near the wall are some flares. There is nothing in the vases so enter the opening and shoot a scorpion. Go left and jump on the block there in the second opening is a medipack. Enter the next room and a dog will sniff at Lara, kill it and get the revolver.

Have a good look at the next room. Left in the corner behind a block is a lever, using that will give you a camera from the previous room. Get out and walk to the other side near a pillar with dark brown stripes. There is a slanted block next to it and with a backflip and grab climb on the block there. Jump to that ladder (dark brown stripes) and climb around the corner on a platform. There are monkey climb everywhere and you need to go to the other side. So grab monkey climb, left, right and follow through till you find a hang lever at the back of a pillar. Camera shows again that block in the previous room. So go back after killing a scorpion and climb one of the ladders there. One side has a medipack, that one you have to shimmy and the other side you can crawl. Climb up on that middle structure and save.

You have to do a running dive into that water, watch out as all the sides do have spikes popping out.

Swim into crawlspace and keep on swimming, down, left, straight on and at the end straight up. Two dogs are waiting to greet Lara, and run further. There is a door on the right, a door in the front and an opening on the left.

Room with four columns

Go into the opening and shooting the vases will give you a shotgun and some ammo. On the right, around the corner is another opening and save before you go in. There is a wraith and no cross around and a tight timed run a bit further down. Best is to do a running jump to a pillar keeping to the middle as much as possible, grab the pillar and transfer to the right as you need to do more jumps. You have to do it quick, as the blocks on top of the pillar will slam down.

OK here we go, running jump to block, keep hanging and transfer around the corner, running jump, keep running and jump and grab (you can save while hanging). Transfer to the left as there is a slanted block. So climb up running jump to slanted block and jump and grab to a crack in the wall and shimmy to the left, and stand up. You can save here. Another running jump and after climbing up a running jump and run as fast to that cross to get rid of the wraith. One of the vases has a small medipack. Opposite the cross is a lever. The camera shows a door opening, turn around and a block has risen, your means to escape. You are back in the room with the four columns. Climb out and see a door has opened. On the right where the texture of the wall is black and white is a jump lever. Go outside and a dog appears, go into the other door that has opened. Shoot some scorpions.

Maze.

First go for a pick up, take the first one right and again right and in that room is some uzi ammo. There are some dogs and scorpions in this maze though. Go back to the start to go for that timed lever now.
Go around the corner and go straight, at the end right, corner to the left and at the end to the left. In that room (with fixed camera angles) is a lever at the end, it is timed. Save before that. You see a door opening and it is outside in that corridor that you used the jump lever in. So pull it, push the “look” button and start jumping to the opening in the wall, right and left, use as much the sprint key, straight and you are in the area outside and sprint into that now open door. Just follow the next corridors and left through a crawlspace, take the first left and at the end is another crawlspace for SECRET # 1, uzi ammo and a medipack. Return to the crawlspace and go straight. Kill a scorpion and go down the ramp. At the end you get a flyby of the next room with water and walkways.

Walk a few paces and turn around, shoot the vases and one of them has the Uzi. There is also a ladder to go down to the water. Shoot the crocs in the water. Looking to the left, there is a closed door left and right underwater.

Open the right one and swim all the way through, till you come to a room with fallen underwater pillars. In the left corner on the ceiling is an underwater lever so pull it and get out. If you use the look button the minute the camera shows you a door, you can make it back with a minimum of health loss. Now go for the other one, there is also a lever on the ceiling in the same corner, pull it and get back for some air. There are two more another underwater levers to pull and that is at the end of the walkway (both sides). Now climb all the way to the top as that door opened. Inside get the Tablet Piece 1 and in a corner is a lever to pull that shows you the door underwater opening. Watch out, as there will be a swarm of beetles. Jump pass the spikes and I kept running jumping that gab so to climb down and shoot the croc before entering the water. You can dive in and climb up on the side to do the same though, whatever takes you fancy.

Enter and keep on swimming for a while. First one left you can get a breath of air and this is SECRET # 2, a small medipack and shotgun ammo. Get some air before you start swimming and now follow through and to the right you can get out. Around the corner in the water is a medipack and there are two dogs howling. All the way at the end you see the receptacle of the Cartouche and you only have one half. Near that, on the right is a ladder. Climb up and climb down and once on the floor start jumping back and forward over those slanted sides till the end. Once save at the other end, flip the lever and walk to the end and a door opens there, Follow through up the stairs, killing bats and scorpions on the way. At the end is a crawlspace and climb down the ladder but do NOT descend but rather backflip and jump at the other end over the tile, as they are spike traps.

Lava room

Once up, you get a flyby of a room full of lava. There is a medipack if you go straight, down the ladder and around the corner. After getting that climb the ladder again. Take a running jump to the block on your right another running jump to that slanted block, slide and jump, slide and jump and grab. Save while you are hanging as another block come down from the ceiling and can squash Lara. Transfer to the right around the corner. Pull up and do a running jump to the next, you’re save here. Next is a running jump to the block on the left. Go straight with a running jump to the next tall one and hang, Once you pulled yourself up immediately take a standing jump and you end up a small block, jump to the next and turn left to jump on one a bit higher. Get to that small block that is the closest to the slanted wall and a running jump to the wall as well. Now jump straight and a bit to the right. Look a bit to the left there is a flat surface you can jump to, another one straight ahead behind a column. Climb up and you have to make a standing jump now to the right. Up again, over a slanted block, down and up again. Jump in that ladder and transfer to the left and down. Let Lara hang and after letting go, grab again and pull up. Standing jump to the left and you are in another room.

Room with vases and water.

Under one of the vases find some uzi ammo and at the end on the right and left, are doors, still closed though. Get into the water on the left, just in front of that statue and turn a bit to the right, see those yellow white tiles there is a lever on the ceiling there. There is another underwater lever and that is all the way near the door you have to open (right). Almost under the block in that corner
At the game I was playing the flare bug kicked in once I went into that now open door on the right. Don’t pick up that medipack as that is a trap. Climb the ladder and end up in a room with globes. Push the globes on the tiles. Go back to the poolroom and at the other end near the vase is another opening and also climb that ladder there. Again two globes to push and you see a door opening. In that same room is a ladder. Climb up and you see the door, Shoot any scorpion and enter the corridor. Follow through and one at a ramp save as, yes you’d guessed it, a boulder trap. Not two but four and you have to run and sprint and at the end jump that ladder. Once up there is a flyby from yet another area.

To the right near the obelisk there is a lever.

The entrance to this new room from the flyby is where that vase is. A dog greets Lara, but shoot it anyway. A small medipack is somewhere on the left and some shotgun ammo on the right. Another dog comes sniffing around and in the right corner at the end is water. Dive in, turn around, left, down and coming into a bigger underwater room swim to the ceiling and go right. There is SECRET # 3, uzi ammo. The exit is all the way in the back, left in that underwater room. Two dogs attack and on pedestal you see the other half of the Tablet Piece 2 (Cartouche) and the Vraeus, called in here the Sacred Viper. The door opposite opens. Better save as in the shadows is a bull waiting for Lara. Jump over the bull run to the left and climb up that block. Shoot the vase and get the Guardian Key. If you look straight you see another vase and behind that vase is another bull waiting, guarding the receptacle of the Key you just found. So lure those to bull away so you can place the Guardian Key. Run up the stairs and jump down, down the stairs and jump on a block near the spikes. In the middle of the spikes is a block, so jump to that and another one to the other side. Climb the ladder and place the Tablet and run up the ramp.
