This walkthrough is unofficial and is not written by the maker of this
level. For the official walkthrough or any questions or concerns
related to the level please contact the person who has created it. If I
have missed out anything at all, such as pick-ups etc. I would be pleased if
you could let me know.
Thank you for reading my walkthrough, I hope it will be of some help.
*Very important note: There is a known bug in this level. On the four
pedestals along the N wall in the raptor room there is meant to be one scroll laying on each pedestal, only the third one from the left
can be picked up. However, with this bug it will in many cases not be possible
to pick up the scroll simply because it's not there. This happened to me and I
found that if I started a new game and did NOT save a single time until I
reached the garden with the snake statues, killed the raptors and entered the
pedestal room the third scroll would be in place. Try this first and if it
doesn't work for you, you can download a savegame here.*
I only found one secret so if you have found any others please let me
know and I’ll make the necessary adjustments to the walkthrough.
Jungle Camp:
As soon as the level starts draw guns and proceed towards the jeep.
Lara will be attacked by three ninjas so kill them all for a start and pick up
the revolver ammo they leave behind. When they're no longer
all over your back let's spend some time looking around the area. To the
North is the temple entrance and it is of course shaped like the mouth of a
snake. There are also three jeeps in the area, none of which are particularly
interesting to you, and another opening where you'll
spot a closed gate to the E.
Run up on the brown ledge closest to the N/E corner. The wall there(partly covered in orange/red coloured
foliage) is climbable, so climb up until you're right above the green branch
and backflip onto the stone ledge behind you. Here
you can pick up the Skull Key Of Snake. As you do so a
tin tribesman will appear below. This type of enemy works a lot like the wooden
knights from Oxy's level
The Crocodile Pit:
Now enter the mouth of the giant snakehead to the N. Do not jump down
on the left hand side, but rather stand on the right side where you can barely
get a glimpse of a branch beyond the opening and do a standing jump onto this
ledge. Why do it this way? Well, simply because the area below is the crocodile
pit and down there four hungry crocs will fight to get a bite of poor Lara.
There are also smaller branches partly covering your view of the ground(both
from up on the branch and down from the ground) so if you decide to deal with the
crocs the hard way you might have a hard time seeing them through the leaves.
If you're not quite that brave you can take care of them from safety up on the
branch, occasionally letting Lara hang from the edge as a bait to lure them out
of hiding. Once they're out of the picture run to the far side of the branch
and pick up three boxes of AK-47 Normal Ammo. Go back along the ledge towards
the opening and turn left (E). Close to the wall you'll see a block below with
something on it. Stand on the edge and do a standing jump to the block to pick
up the AK-47 rifle. Immediately draw weapon and take out the winged dino swooping in from above. I found it to be easiest to
take it out with the AK-47, it only took 3-4 shots.
Once that is done drop down to the ground right by the block where you found
the rifle. On the N side of that block there is a snakehead receptacle. Use
your Skull Key Of Snake there and the gate leading
into the E tunnel will open.
Go back out there and enter the Garden of the Snake. First you'll come
to a garden with four snake statues in the middle. A green snake is hiding
behind one of them, but they won’t harm Lara or cause her any damage so they
can be ignored. Besides, it takes a lot of bullets to kill them. There is also
a closed gate to the S leading out to a jungle area and to the E is a doorway
leading into an open area with a raptor carcass laying
on the ground. If you approach this room you'll be attacked by a pack of
raptors out to avenge their dead kin so ff you like you can take them all out
now. The garden area is safe as they won't go all the way down the stairs. To
the left of this doorway is a closed gate and another closed gate next to that
again and finally to the N a doorway leading out to an area with a pool and a
cave behind a waterfall which you can't reach yet.
The Raptor Room:
First of all enter the room with all the raptors and kill them if you
haven't already. You will see three pedestals with scrolls on them to the S, the one in the middle holds a gemstone too. There are
also three scrolls in the middle of the room, one which lays on the floor next
to the two pedestals, and four pedestals to the N (if the third pedestal is
missing a scroll you've encountered the savegame bug
mentioned at the beginning of the walkthrough). If the Holy Scripture is there,
pick it up. Also remember to pick up the turquoise Stone on the middle pedestal
to the S.
2nd Holy Scripture and Secret 1:
Nothing more to do in here for now, but go back outside and run out on
the branch leading out from the N opening. Turn around and you will spot an
alcove in the tree trunk to the left of the opening. Climb up there and look
straight ahead. Jump to grab the switch on the wall and pull it down and the
black gate to the left of the doorway to the raptor room opens. Go in there and
pick up the 2nd Holy Scripture and then turn around and locate the jump switch
above you. Ready whatever weapon you like, jump and pull the switch. The red
gate next to this one opens, letting out a raptor for you to deal with. With
the AK-rifle you can take care of it in one-two shots. Pull up into the opening
with the red gate, turn left and go straight THROUGH the gate. Follow the
tunnel around until you reach a hole in the ground. Turn around, drop backwards
and climb down the ladder to the bottom. Here you can pick up Secret 1: three
boxes of AK-47 normal ammo, a large medipack, an MP5
Sniper Rifle and five batches of ammo for it. Once you've retrieved your
goodies climb back out and go back to the garden.
Waterfall Cave - 3rd Holy Scripture:
This time go through the opening to the N. Dive into the pool and swim
through the underwater opening to the E. Climb out of the water and push the
button here to raise the water level. Swim back out and climb onto the green
ledge to the N, to the left of the waterfall, jump into the cave beyond the
falls and take out the tribesman running around in there. Once it's done pick
up the Holy Scripture laying on the ground and then light a flare and go to the
backside of the dark cave. Here you'll be greeted with the sight of a
receptacle and a green snake guarding it. No need to trouble the snake more
than necessary so place the Stone from the pedestal room in the receptacle.
Finding the final Holy Scripture - leaving
the garden:
Leave this cave and swim to the opposite side, on the right side of the
thick branch leading into the temple garden.
Climb the low ledge here and climb onto the branch. Retrace your steps to the
raptor room. You will find that the third door from the left along the E wall
is open so let's go exploring in there. A final Holy Scripture is laying on the opposite side so pick it up. As soon as that's
done immediately draw guns, turn around and get ready for some serious battle.
Lara is being ambushed by three tin men who apparently fell out of the sky so
jump around while firing to let them know how you feel about inhospitality. I
found the easiest way to kill them without taking damage and using pistols only
(but it might take a bit of time) was to run out of the stall where you picked
up the scroll, quickly run out of the raptor room and into the garden. The tin
tribesmen don't follow you all the way down there. Stand in the S/E corner of
the ledge running around the garden, as close to the wall as you can without
the tribesmen reaching you and fire at them whenever they come within your
range. Continue this way until they're all out of your misery. You now have
four scrolls and there are four statues in the garden. Go out there and place
each of the four Holy Scriptures on the stone tablets by the statues. This will
open the gate to the S. Go through, but do NOT run straight ahead. Instead
proceed cautiously and three boulders will crash down in front of you. Continue
on through the next area and ready your guns.
Drop down into the hole and quickly dispose of the raptor down there.
There are also green snakes lurking below the foliage, but as mentioned they do
no harm so never mind them. Go over to the far end of
this area. Below the foliage there are small pools of water and the one on your
right contains a hole where you can swim down. There is also a croc here so be
cautious. Swim down the hole and follow the passage straight ahead(ignoring
the tunnel leading in to the right) and then to the left at the junction. Go on
until you can climb out of the water. The moment you leave
the water draw guns and kill the three ninjas coming to wish you a not so warm
welcome. You can kill the green snake if you like or leave it and
continue past the two fountains. Climb the block and pick up the Stonethistle (or Stonedistle as
it's called in the game). The bluish floor ahead consists of collapsible tiles
that will send Lara into a pit she can't get out of, so to avoid that jump up
and grab the monkey swing. Once you're on the other
side drop down and proceed through the low tunnel. As you do so the ground will
start rumbling......uh oh, haven't we been here before??? Oh yes, we have. A
massive T-Rex is on its way straight towards Lara. Luckily it gets stuck before
it reaches her. Now, you have to either have at least 30 rounds of AK-47 ammo
left to deal with this scenario. The MP5 and pistols just won't bite on these
creatures. So whip out some real guns, run towards the first T-Rex and start
firing WHEN you are in close range of its belly. In other words, you have to be
face to face with it. It takes about 12-18 shots to get it down, depending on
how well you hit. Once it's dead, there's another of its kind to take care of
out there. In my case it got stuck by a tree, so it wasn't too hard to get
enough time to at least get close enough to kill it.
Leaving the swamp:
On the left side there's a tree with something resembling ladder steps
on it. Climb up there and jump to the branch on the
left. Go on with a running jump and grab the branch ahead before doing a quite
tricky jump around to the next one. Turn right and do another running jump to
grab the next branch and yet another running jump and grab to the next branch.
Continue this way until you eventually reach the branch with a pink Stone on it
that you can retrieve. You will now begin hearing footsteps. For some reason a
ninja has appeared on the branch before the one Lara is standing on so of
course you'll not need showing him mercy. There is also another ninja below on
the ground. It shouldn't be too hard to take him out from the safety of the
heights, but in case you prefer the direct approach jump down and deal with him
in person. Once the coast is clear go to the slope leading down to the E. Slide
down the middle of the slope and stand completely still when you reach the end.
Three boulders will pound down behind you and if you did what I suggested they
will roll straight over Laras head. Go on until you
reach a large gap, then do a standing jump over it
before continuing.
Opening the final gate:
In the next area there are three gates, five snake statues and a lever.
Behind the gate to the E you can spot another stone. The snake statues stand
upon blocks of stone, one containing one receptacle,
one with two and the one to your immediate right holds one. First of all pull
the lever. This opens the gate next to it. Follow the dark passage and pick up
some useful goodies on the way: a Colt Python, ammo and a large medipack. Continue along the passage and slide down the
long slope at the end. Remain standing as soon as you stop sliding to avoid
being crushed by the boulder bouncing over your head. Arm your revolver and lasersight and shoot the ball hanging from the ceiling. The
gates on the left and right will open. Go through the left gate first and pick
up a 2nd pink Stone from the pedestal. Go back where you came from and through
the right gate. At the end climb the ladder and run up the long ramp to end up
in the area with the snake statues.
Place the stones in the black snake receptacle and the gate to the S
opens. Go through the passage and drop into the next room. Immediately draw
guns and take care of the two tin tribesmen that greet you. Afterwards go over
to the slanted block in the far right corner. Pull up onto the block and press
Jump to spring off it. Continue pressing the Jump button as Lara bounces off
the blocks and at the end press Action to make her grab the edge. Pull up and
continue left on the branch until you reach a monkey swing. Traverse across to
the opposite side where you can pick up the 2nd Stonethistle.
Climb the ladder here and the next one and pull up into the next room. Straight
across is a dark hole in the ground, drop backwards and grab the edge and the
climb the ladder until you can safely drop down to the area with the snake
statues. Place the two Stonethistles into the two
remaining receptacles and the E gate opens. Two green snakes will pop up as you
enter, but you don't need to worry about them. Approach the gemstone artefact on the ground (looks exactly like the Infada Stone from TR3's
