Of course eating disorders is not something that one can just look away from, but as a person who had a period in her life where she struggled with food, this book brought too many painful memories from my past back. The writing is different from the point of view of anorexia. They're just not as widely heard of. I've noticed this with a lot of creators who have never actually had an eating disorder. A trick of the light deals with real life events and it covers something everyone can relate to.
It was intense and eye opening, but the perspective left me feeling detached and not as invested in the story as I would have liked to be.
