LEVEL 1 – REACHING THE CASTLE

 

Mirror Room

Turn right and go to the NW corner, open the door, enter and climb the ledge to your right to get a large medipack (Medicine Pouch). Go down ans SW to the border of the pit, look up to see a crawlspace covered wit a grate, draw pistols and jump and shoot to break that barrier, go through that crawlspace, shoot the next grate and in the next room go left to read a book and follow the story-line, pick up the shotgun shells and approach to the mirror-wall, look to the ceiling and locate the green-marked tiles: under those tiles there are invisible wall switches in the room where you are in, so pull all 5 switches to open the exit gates.

 

The Attic

In the next room pick up the grenades in the deep pit and MP5 ammo at the top of the crates; continue E and go behind the crates to your left to get uzi clips, go to the opposite side and pull one of the shields to open a trapdoor at the top of the crates, climb there and in the attic shoot the chests to get a small medipack (Adhesive Tape) and revolver ammo; pull the wall sconce in the NW corner to open the exit trapdoor, locate the hole in the ceiling (S wall) and climb up the ladder to a big outside area.

 

On the Battlements

Shoot the crows and go to the N side of the battlements to get the Village Key; to get extra pickups you can jump onto the roofs between the battlements, slide/grab the edge, shimmy left, climb down (the left sides are climbable) to the top of the roofs below to get 3 X MP5 ammo and 3 X shotgun shells, but in both cases you’ll need to go all the way back up to the W battlements as you did before (mirror room, attic…). More extra pickups: from these W battlements go to the very S side, climb the last battlement and take a curved running jump SE to the S battlements, drop into the hole in the corner to get the SECRET #1: shotgun shells and the Shotgun itself and to get extra pickups take a running jump to the top of the structure in the middle of the lake with the drawbridges (losing a lot of health, of course) to get the SECRET #2: uzi ammo and the Uzis (use the “Ctrl” key when in midair or you’ll not get it). Jump into the lake and look for a large medipack in the NE corner. Anyway, if you’re not interested on pickups, simply jump into the lake below.

 

Underwater Business

Get out of the water and explore this area to find a large medipack, 5 X small medipacks, revolver ammo and grenades. In the corner where you found several small medipacks there is a jump switch to pull, do it to open an underwater door in the NW corner of the lake; swim there and explore that underwater room to find 2 X small medipacks and revolver ammo; locate two underwater levers to pull in the SE and NW corners, time the circular rotating blades and pull them to open a trapdoor somewhere. Swim to the adjacent room (S) to find the open trapdoor in the ceiling. For a relic: open the double doors in the right hand side of the E wall (use the “Ctrl” key and eventually Lara will kick them with her feet) to get the RELIC #1: the White Carnival Mask.

 

The Sewers

Get out of the water and in the next room pick up the Revolver (Peacemaker), use the village key to open the W door, enter and in the room with the fireplace read a book to follow the story-line, pick up the lasersight in the corner but quickly take a sidejump or you’ll be impaled. Forget the S door for now and go back to the main courtyard the way you came. Now open the door in the NE corner, enter, run down the ramp to the very bottom, climb down the ladder, open the next door, pick up the uzi clips and press the button in the corner to raise the nearby door; enter, go left (W) and pull the jumpswitch in the back side of the pillar in the corner, continue N, shoot the warrior and pull the switch in the NE corner to open the next door.

 

In this new room press one of the shields in the right side to open a door in the opposite side of the room, go there, pick up revolver ammo and follow the path, climb up the ladder and continue to the very end. Climb the last crates and note that there are three small wooden boxes locking the big wheels, combine the revolver with the lasersight and shoot them all to trigger something, go back to the river area, advance always left when possible to find a jumpswitch in a corner, pull it and go to the next corner to find a wall switch which opens the nearby door.

 

This room is similar to the previous one, press one of the shields in the right side to open a door in the opposite side of the room, go there, climb the crates opposite the entrance to pick up 3 X shotgun shells, follow the path, climb up the ladder, pick up 4 X uzi clips in the SW corner, climb up the ladder at the other side of the platform to the higher ledge where the wheels are and from the right side of the first tile turn left, jump/grab the edge, pull up and quickly jump with a right curve to land onto the high balcony, from here you can shoot two of those small boxes blocking the wheels; jump to the W balcony, shoot another box, take a diagonal jump to the next balcony with the lighting torch and look up to see a fourth box to shoot. Make your way to go back to the river area (the best option is to use the slope of the central ledge you used before).

 

Exit, advance always left when possible and when you find the next closed door look for a jumpswitch in one of the pillars in front of the door; don’t forget the large medipack in the corner and enter; again, press one of the shields in the right side to open a door in the opposite side of the room, go there, enter, go right and climb the crates next to the N wall, use the binoculars (with light if necessary) to locate a couple of those small boxes high up locking the wooden wheels and shoot them, now go to the SE corner, climb the crates, use the binoculars (with light if necessary) to locate a third box high up locking the wooden wheels and shoot it (better from the very corner, the box is next to the wall): the nearby trapdoor should be triggered. Climb up the ladder, approach to the area with the missing fence in the NW corner, take a curved running jump to grab the horizontal pole of the lamp and swing to grab the edge of the tall pillar in the corner (use both the jump + sprint keys or you’ll never get it), from here take a running jump E to the top of the crates and use the revolver + sight to break the grate in the opening above. Climb up, go right and open the double doors at the end of the corridor.

 

The Mechanism Key

Take a running jump to the top of the arch to your right, another one to the top of the SE arch and a last one to the top of the arch attached to the S wall to pull a switch. To get extra pickups, if you want you can jump from arch to arch to reach the top of the very N one to get 2 X shotgun shells and revolver ammo. Anyway, after you pull the switch, drop down to the floor losing some health and go back to the room where you shot the last boxes (S); locate the open door in the S side. Run down the wide stairs and explore this area to find 5 X uzi clips and 2 X shotgun shells; note the colored lights in the places with the floor levers and read the book to get a hint: neutral colors, so avoid the green, red and blue switches and pull only the other two to open the door; when you step onto the trigger tile a door opens somewhere. Exit to the river area and go always left until you can cross the river near the waterfall, run up the steps near the NW corner, enter and go right to find the open door; pick up the large medipack and the Mechanism Key.

 

Go back to the river area and cross to the S side to find the keyhole, open the door, enter and pull the switch to open doors in another areas. Our work is done here, so go all the way back to the main courtyard with the well and the drawbridges and continue back to the room with the fireplace where you got the lasersight a long time ago. This time open the S door to find a huge outside area with many houses.

 

The Village

Go right to find revolver ammo and open the door of the nearby house to get the Torch (take the torch always with you in this area), exit and go to the room with the fireplace to light it; exit and go to the very SW corner, pick up the large medipack and open the door of the E house, enter, light the fireplace and exit. There are two more fireplaces to light: one of them is in the middle of this area, just in front of a tall tree (pick up 2 X shotgun shells here) and the other one is in the SE corner (there are 3 X MP5 ammo to pick up in a niche in the N wall too). Once all three fireplaces are lightened a door opens somewhere. Go to the fence in the E side and cross to the other side in the area with the hanged man; the open door is in the S side.

 

The Library

Enter and go right to pull a book-switch, turn around, go E and take the first S to find 2 X shotgun shells; continue taking a U-turn and pull another book-switch in the place with the Old Sword to rotate a bookcase somewhere; go back to the place where you pulled the first switch to find it and pull a third book-switch to open the exit door.

 

Take the torch with you and throw it in a place where you can find it later. In this big library go to the SE corner to find a jumpswitch in the left side of the stairs, pull it and take a U-turn to your left, down the wide stairs (S) to find the open trapdoor; drop through the hole and shoot the chests to get 2 X uzi clips and the Crowbar (Sword). To get extra pickups, on the right side of the N armor there is a phantom bookcase in the wall, climb the brown block below, pick up 2 X shotgun shells, push the movable block once, go left and shoot the chest to get the SECRET #3: revolver ammo and MP5 ammo. Go back to the previous room. Exit through the opening in the corner, press the button in the corner with the unlit torch, advance and pull the switch at the end of the path to open the exit door; shoot the spectra.

 

Locate the rotated bookcase near the hole with the open trapdoor and enter; pick up 2 X small medipack and 2 X large medipack on the crates and pull all four switches to move bookcases in the main library: one in the E side, one in the W side, one in the SE side (near the jumpswitch) and the last one in the first floor, up the stairs, S side.

 

W Side

Read the book to follow the history and get hints (in my game I couldn’t read all; the text disappears under my screen); in this room you can’t run or walk over the wooden parts, so keep the “walk” key pressed and go only over the gray tiles to the S and N walls to pull a couple of book-switches; continue walking over the gray tiles to finally climb the raised block in the NE corner, climb up the ladder to the upper floor and press the book-switch in the NW corner to rotate a bookcase in the E wall, go there and pick up 3 X small medipack and 3 X uzi clips, push the shield to rotate a bookcase somewhere. Go all the way back to the main hall the way you came.

 

East Side

In this room, I think the planet Earth is in the N side, the Moon in the center and Jupiter in the S side; I’ve read the book, but I couldn’t read all the text because a part of it was out of my screen (below), so I never knew what switches to pull; conclusion: I got stuck forever unless I tried all the possible combinations (45), so I finally had to ask for help and the switches you need to pull are only the one in the SE corner behind the ladder and the one in the SW corner; once both switches are pulled the trapdoor at the top of the ladder opens and you can get access to the upper floor. Near the SW corner there is a book-switch to pull, it rotates a bookcase in the N side, go there, pick up 3 X uzi clips, 3 X MP5 ammo and behind the trophy the RELIC #2: the Blue Carnival Mask plus 3 X uzi clips; push the shield to rotate a bookcase somewhere and go back to the main hall.

 

SE Side

Take care of the spiked maces in the walls here, they can harm you. I couldn’t understand very well the hint when reading the book, but looking through the mirror you can see that there are some missing objects which are not in the main room: the barrels, the flower pot, the exhibitor with the book near the entrance, the desk in the SW corner and the ladder in the SE corner; approach to all these objects and use the “Ctrl” key to break them and the trapdoor above the ladder in the SW corner opens. Climb up the ladder and look for a book-switch to pull in the NE corner, go to the S wall to find the rotated bookcase, enter, pick up 3 X MP5 clips and push the shield to rotate another bookcase somewhere. Go back to the main hall.

 

S Side (First Floor)

Now it’s time to run up the S stairs to the first floor, pick up the first Blue Gem in front of the open passage and if you want extra pickups retrieve the torch and go to the N side of this floor: you can light one of the wall sconces to rotate a nearby bookcase, enter, jump over the crate to get the SECRET #4: grenades and the Grenade Gun too. Exit and explore the E and W corridors to find 2 X shotgun shells and 2 X revolver ammo. To get more pickups note a darker block between the wall sconces with the torches: it’s a movable block, push it several times and shoot the chest to get the SECRET #5: a large medipack, a small medipack, revolver ammo and MP5 clips. Go back down to the main hall and to the S side where the passage is clear after you’ve rotated all the bookcases.

 

Moving Block Puzzle

Advance to a room with four wall switches and 3 X MP5 ammo in the SW corner; your goal here is to move the block under the floor-grate to its position in the E side of the room below. Start by pulling the switch in the S wall, then pull the central switch in the N wall, again the switch in the S wall twice, now the right hand switch in the N wall twice, now the switch in the S wall twice, the central switch in the N wall once, the switch in the S wall twice and the right switch in the N wall twice; when you hear the music go to the NW corner, climb the crate and jump to grab the edge of the upper floor above (jump to grab the crack and use the “Ctrl” key to jump higher). Go to the SE corner to pull a book-switch and rotate a bookcase in the W wall, go there, pick up a large medipack, revolver ammo and push the shield to trigger something somewhere. Go all the way back to the main hall.

 

Six Switches Puzzle

Drop down to the bottom and go S down the wide stairs, locate the rotated bookcases in the SW corner and go through the narrow corridor, pick up the revolver ammo, shoot the warrior, pick up 2 X small medipack and pull the switch to rotate another bookcase somewhere. Nothing more to do here, so exit this library, go back outside, to the village with many houses and to the room with the fireplace where you got the lasersight a long time ago; exit N and when the camera angle changes turn right and climb up the bookcase, pick up the revolver ammo and use the crowbar to open the door with the padlock, continue to a room with six wall switches and a semi transparent floor. Look down and use only the switches with the green sign below (the left and right ones in the S wall) to open the door, enter the storage room, pick up 2 X shotgun shells, 3 X Mp5 ammo, a large medipack, 3 X small medipacks and from the crates in the S wall you can reach an opening in the ceiling. In the room above shoot the small spiders, pick up 2 X shotgun ammo, revolver ammo and drop through the hole (climb down the ladder) to get the second Blue Gem in the room below. It’s time to use the gems, so go all the way back to the first courtyard with the well and the drawbridges.

 

Locate the receptacles in the E wall, open the double doors, enter and use the crowbar in the door with the padlock, shoot the chest to get the SECRET #6: shotgun shells, a large medipack, grenades, MP5 ammo and the MP5 Gun (at last!); go through the corridor in the SE corner, pull the switch and go outside.

 

The Cane

Explore this area to find 4 X shotgun shells, revolver ammo and 3 X MP5 ammo; now go through the passage in the SW corner to find a triangular crawlspace at the end, pull the jumpswitch at the other side to lower a trapdoor somewhere. Back in the courtyard, enter the E building, pick up a small medipack and MP5 ammo, pull the wall sconce next to the lightened torch and climb the fireplace left or right to reach the high wooden beams; pick up 3 X small medipacks, 2 X large medipacks and go through the passage with the rotated bookcase, pick up 3 X shotgun shells and pull the pole to open a door somewhere. Go back to the courtyard and exit N to the room where you got the MP5 Gun. Locate the door you opened moments ago (SW corner) and pull the floor lever to raise blocks in the courtyard you came from, go there, climb, shoot the grate, enter shoot the next grates and take a running jump to the opening in the opposite building to get the Cane.

 

The Brown Gate Key & the Emerald

Back into the previous room, enter the E room and pull the switch next to the entrance to see the tiles you must jump onto (the green ones), once you do it the door opens and you can use the sword to open the next door and get the Brown Gate Key. Go back to the courtyard with the well and jump into the water, swim to the room where you found the first relic and surface in the S hole in the ceiling, use the new key to open the door, enter and pick up a large medipack and the Emerald; exit and go right to find the trapdoor you opened time ago and crawl to find the SECRET #7: 2 X shotgun shells, 2 X MP5 ammo, a small and large medipacks and the Revolver. If you found all seven secrets perhaps a message appears on your screen saying that you’ve unlocked an alternative ending.

 

Finishing the Level

Go all the way back to the room where you got the MP5 Gun and combine the cane with the emerald to get the Emerald Cane, use it in the N receptacle to open the door, enter and pick up the Bunch of Keys: a door opens in the room where you got the Cane, so go back there, advance and in the next room pick up 3 X shotgun shells and 3 X MP5 ammo on the crates, look for a switch in the S pillar near the armor and pull it to open a door in the room above, climb the crates in the SW corner to get there, pick up 2 X small medipack, 2 X uzi clips, a large medipack and 2 X revolver ammo; exit W and check the battlements to get 4 X MP5 ammo and shotgun shells, go S and press the button to lower the bridges, pick up 4 X MP5 ammo on this block, jump into the lake, get out of the water and run S towards the closed gates to finish the level.

 

 

LEVEL 2 – CURSED CASTLE

 

Final C: You left the Place with the Curse

Don’t enter but roll and cross the bridges running towards the jeep in the N side of the courtyard to finish the adventure.

 

Final D: The curse is over and you decide to get out of the castle as it remains.

Enter the castle, go straight ahead, run up the stairs and go left/left to the very end, pull the jumpswitch in the corner to open trapdoors in the main hall, go down there, drop through the hole and advance S to get the Warrior Head from the sarcophagus. Go back up to the main hall and run up the stairs again, this time go around left or right to find open gates in the S wall. Jump onto the floating ledge to your right, jump onto the nearby slope, slide, advance S, take a running jump to the S arch and another running jump to the next central floating ledge (*).

 

Floating Islands

Turn right and jump from ledge to ledge until you reach the high W platform with the wall switch, pull it and go back to the central floating ledge (*) the way you came. Now jump onto the E ledge; advance a bit and if you want you can jump left to get a large medipack; anyway from this ledge jump to grab the edge of the sloped block, shimmy right, pull up, slide and jump to grab the edge of the next sloped block, shimmy right, pull up, slide and jump to land onto the last sloped block, slide/jump and grab the ladder; shimmy right around the corner, climb up to the top, pull up, slide and jump to grab the next floating ledge, finally take a running jump to the platform with the wall switch and pull it. Now take a running jump back to the floating ledge, another one to grab the ladder, shimmy around two corners, drop/slide/jump with twist and continue jumping onto the sloped blocks to go back to the central floating ledge. The door is open so you can take a running jump S and continue running/jumping to reach the S building.

 

The Tower

Go right (W) and look for an opening with ladders, drop/grab the edge, shimmy right, climb up the ladder and from the niche jump to grab the crack to your right, shimmy left around the corner and when you are grabbing the next ladder depress the “Ctrl” key and quickly grab so Lara is with legs and arms extended, at this moment use the “Jump” key to grab the upper part of the ladder; climb up and from this niche go right around the corner and take a standing jump to grab the horizontal pole with the lamp, swing to grab the next pole (remember to use the “Jump” and “Sprint” keys) and swing again to land onto a breakable tile (take a curve so you can take a running jump to the next one); run and jump to the next one and to the safe ledge in the corner.

 

Run over the next breakable tile and turn right to take a standing jump to the next niche to your right (avoid the spiked trap), climb the block to your left, turn right, drop/grab the edge and shimmy left (invisible crack) to the next niche. Take a standing jump onto the next breakable tile and another one to the safe wooden ledge in the corner; from here take a curved running jump to grab the next wooden ledge around the corner, time the rotating blade to take another running jump to grab the next breakable tile, pull up, take a standing jump to grab the edge of the upper wooden tile, pull up, take a running jump to the next safe ledges and when you reach the corner take a curved running jump to grab the horizontal pole with the lamp, swing to grab the next horizontal pole timing the blades and swing again timing the circular moving blade to land onto the safe wooden ledge in the corner.

 

I didn’t use the pole here, simply I took a curved running jump around the corner to land onto the breakable tile, run and jump without stop to grab the edge of the ledge with the intermittent spikes, time the spikes to pull up and take a running jump to a safe wooden ledge. From here jump up to grab the crack in the wall, shimmy left and jump up to grab the crack above, shimmy right to the very end and drop/drop onto a safe ledge below. Jump onto the ledge in the corner and take a curved running jump to the next safe ledge, take a running jump to grab the edge of the ledge with the spikes, shimmy right and around the corner when you can, time the spikes, pull up and take a final standing jump to the niche in the tower. Climb the block to your left, drop/grab the edge, shimmy all the way to your left and finally pull up to find yourself at the top of the tower. Walk into the teleporter to finish the level.

 

 

LEVEL 3 – CURSED UNDERWORLD

 

First Battle

Don’t try to approach to the edges of this world or you’ll see what happens… Simply run N and try to shoot the Boss the best you can using the pillars as a refuge; in the middle of the battle a warrior will appear too; when the boss is defeated go to the place where it was and pick up the Unknown Warrior Stone Artifact to be teleported to a similar world.

 

[Note:] I suffered serious bugs here; sometimes the boss stays inactive and he doesn’t attack Lara. In that cases I had to reload a previous savegame, so save often while shooting this enemy. [End note]

 

Second Battle

As you did before, approach to the central structure and a new Boss appears, use a powerful weapon and when he’s defeated the teleporter will be active, walk there to finish this area.

 

 

LEVEL 4 – ROTENHERRINGSTEIN BRIDGE

 

Open the E door and you’ll be back in a familiar room. Go outside, cross the bridge and go left to get a large medipack if you want; then run N towards the jeep to finish the adventure.

 

Final B: You decided to continue exploring.

Don’t go outside but go up the stairs, left, and left again (N) to the end of the corridor, pull the jumpswitch in the corner to open gates in the S side of this first floor, go there and enter the E room, pull the floor lever near the entrance to finish the adventure.

 

Final A: The curse is over and you decide to continue across the bridge towards a large castle.

Don’t enter the E room but approach to the S gates and they should open; in this courtyard use the jumpswitch to open the next gates; go outside and run towards the bridge to finish the adventure.
