SETTINGS
In the main folder, a folder called extras is present. It contains alternate
files that allow you to switch from English to German and vice versa. Just copy
over the desired file into the cfg folder and rename it to only say
"TR1X_gameflow.json5" including the extension, otherwise it won't
work.
Note that this level is intended to be played with the save crystals on. I
request you do not touch any of the settings as it is a short level, lest you
end up accidentally screwing up the syntax on the code.
In the main menu, go into the graphical // visual settings and ensure [Texture
Filter, FBO Filter, Perspective, Pretty Pixels, Reflections] are all turned ON.
Using the 60FPS mode is recommended but not required, and the remaining
settings are up to you to edit. A higher resolution is suggested to avoid ugly
graphical outputs.
It’s also important to note the few issues I couldn’t iron out due to
limitations:
- You might experience lag, and if so it’s advisable to turn of Pretty Pixels,
Reflections and Perspectives. I had it lag quite a bit but that’s simply due to
the singular room and the amount it needs to render at a time.
- Enemies can sometimes go on top of buildings or through fences. I simply
cannot fix that as it’s how TR1’s AI works and a way to fix it also breaks the
camera.
EXTRA LEVEL
This is a very small level as a tiny tribute to my previous levels, and to
celebrate how far I've gotten in these past two years as a TRLE Builder.
MAIN LEVEL
As you load into the level, take in the sight of the empty street and begin to
move forward. Take notice of the two trapdoors next to the plants, moving
forward through the only opening from this small area while taking note of the
glass and walking through it. You will come to see a large stone pillar, which
can be used via a switch. For now, ignore said pillar and from the entrance to
this area look to the side path inside of the building, flipping the switch and
seeing a camera target point to the trapdoors that you took note of before. Go
back to the previous area and jump up to the area with the cafe tables,
positioning yourself in the space right below the trapdoor, jumping up and
holding action to grab onto it. Jump to the second trapdoor and turn to the
wall opening. Be careful now, as the next bit has crumbling floors that are
right above some nasty glass shards that will kill Lara instantly. Go through
the crumbling floor and make it to the wall gap, seeing a trapdoor
automatically open up to prevent you from softlocking.
Now that you got the trapdoor open, jump up to the fenced area and use the
switch to move the stone pillar in the same room. Take note of the motherboard
slot and carefully jump onto the pillar, shimmying over to the gap. Take
caution to not take fall damage and drop down. IF you are playing with save
crystals on, feel free to use the SAVE
CRYSTAL on the left side of a small platform that allows
backtracking. Be careful going into the small building interior as a SHIRTLESS ORDER INITIATE will
come out and begin firing devastating shots at you. To effectively take him
down, never allow him to stand still and roll to force him to turn manually.
When you defeat him, hopefully you haven't lost much health. Go to the spot
where he popped out of, near the door, through which you see a truck, and pick
up the MOTHERBOARD and
a SMALL MEDIPACK to reward you for your troubles. Go back to
the platform to backtrack, but instead shimmy across the slopes and climb up,
jumping backwards onto another slope- don't be afraid, just keep jumping onto
them until you hit a sector that doesn't make Lara slip.
Take a quickie to go to the sector next to the spot where you landed, climbing
up and finding an ICONIC PICKUP SLOT which contains a SMALL MEDIPACK and 2 x SHOTGUN AMMO for a shotgun you'll find eventually. Go
back to the spot where you landed from the slopes, taking aim at the shimmy
spot that is hanging above more nasty glass shards. Jump with a running jump
and shimmy to a climbable spot. Before going down, go through the fences on the
wall and reach a second ICONIC PICKUP SLOT,
which gives you 2 x SHOTGUN AMMO and UZI
CLIPS. Go back around and navigate down to find a SAVE CRYSTAL which
should prove nice. Saving or not, go through the alley to find a wooden
staircase in your view as well as an ICONIC
BILLBOARD on top of a wall. Be careful as a second SHIRTLESS ORDER INITIATE comes out and tries
to kill Lara. Dispose of him, careful with his deadly shots. Once he's down, go
up the wooden staircase and at the end pick up your reward for coming
here: DUAL UZIS, a SMALL MEDIPACK and
an ELECTRICAL FUSE
With your new gear, go back to the spot which held the save crystal and climb
up the small wall, jumping up to the spot with a switch. Using the switch drops
a trapdoor down you can use to go back, although do beware you take some fall
damage. Return to the spot to which you saw the motherboard slot, looking back
in the walkthrough if needed, and place the MOTHERBOARD into
the slot. You'll see a grated door opens into a storage section. Do a long jump
to get there, and safely get down to see a couple of pushables in the middle of
the room- If you look closely onto the floor, you can see that they seem to be
pressure plates. Also take note of a SAVE
CRYSTAL at the back of the
room, which might be good to use at this moment in time. Afterwards, Push all
of the 5 pushables to make them align in the middle. A trapdoor in the room
will trigger. Go up to it and do a long jump to a wall section with the fuze
slot. Insert the ELECTRICAL FUSE into the box and look behind you as the two
doors open. Go through them and notice that a door opened. The door is the one
that was next to the first shirtless dude- It'll be a shortcut for when you
pickup a 2 X CROWBARS
You'll be given a camera target to show off one of the JIAFEI DRILLS that
seem to be blocking something under them. Return to the area of said drills
using the walkthrough's previous bits as help. When you get back to the area
where you killed the second shirtless dude, use the CROWBARS on
the back of the drills to make them move. After moving both of them, you'll
likely notice keys under each of the drills prior to when you moved them. Pick
up both TRAPDOOR KEYS and use them on their respective keyholes on
the wall with the staircase. You'll see a trapdoor drop, allowing you a way to
pass onto the other side of the small section, where you can find a switch to
open two more trapdoors. Beware as this switch is timed, so ensure that as soon
as you use the switch, you jump and roll backwards and make a run onto the
trapdoors- it's not too tight so don't worry too much. If you succeed, you'll
land behind the fencing and progress onto the next area.
Climb onto the boxes in a small storage area, and through the fencing to land
in a nice area with a few trees and lots of lights. Look to the middle of the
area to find a SAVE CRYSTAL that allows you to save once again. Before
going into the large building, go into the small pile of trees next to the
wall, and going around, you'll eventually stumble into the final ICONIC PICKUP SLOT which contains a SMALL MEDIPACK to
assist you. After that, Look to the large structure in this area and go around
it to find a one-way passage out of here, since you cannot get out of here
otherwise. Remember this spot for later. Go into the middle of the courtyard
and through the entrance into the next building. As you enter, you'll see a
door on the other side of the room open- but if you try to simply walk through
the floor, the door will close. Instead, go on top of the wall pillars and use
those to cross the room to avoid ticking the pressure plates on the floor. When
you get inside of the small room, you'll find a few nice pickups on the
floor- a SHOTGUN ALONG WITH 4 SHOTGUN AMMO,
a LARGE MEDIPACK alongside a PDA that
contains some information that you want regarding the cult. Unfortunately your
decision to do this has caused quite an uproar with a few individuals in the
near area- one last SHIRTLESS ORDER INITIATE,
alongside a SAS SOLDIER, and a HIRED GUN, all three enemies in the Larson, Cowboy
and Mr T slot for attack reference, although do note their attacks are much
faster than in OG due to animation shortening, to actually make the fight
challenging instead of a quick and done ordeal- hope you used the save crystal!
Use the shotgun and uzis to dispatch all three threats, carefully avoiding
their stronger attacks. After the slaughter you'll notice the small building
which was next to where you entered this area is now open. Go inside to find
some desks, suggesting they were waiting for you to fall into the room to do a
swift ambush on you. Go to the switch in the room and lower it, revealing that
the door to the truck has now been unlocked. Now that you got the PDA with
secret info about the organisation, all you need to do is go to the truck and
simply walk through the door, getting greeted with the statistics for this
level.
