HASHEP OASIS

TEN Level by Gecko

Walkthrough by Treeble

Note: There are no healing items in this level, instead you heal up by simply staying unharmed for a few seconds. There are new moves, such as ledge jumps and backflips, which are explained through in game prompts, but keep in mind you can also perform crawlspace rolls and grab on triangular ledges.

After the amazing intro, find yourself amidst the wreckage under the scorching heat of the desert. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, move towards the fuselage and then look southeast for the engine.

Your goal is to reach the oasis by making short breaks at every shaded area you come across to replenish your health. Past the wing, go east behind the rock and you'll spot some crates in the distance, stick to the shadows as you work your way there to retrieve your PISTOLS. Further east, go all the way southeast behind the sandy ridge. From the lower shaded area, turn around to spot the next series of safe ridges at the end of which you again need to face southeast for the next shadow over a tall mound.

Heading south, spot a lone rock in the sand providing the next bit of shadow, go beyond it in a straight line until you get to a pair of similar rocks later on. Face southwest for another mound of sand under shadow and keep following in that direction until you spot rock formations in the distance. The safe route to them is obvious enough, and when you get there you should spot palms from the oasis in the distance. From the rock arch, go west and follow the shaded areas all the way to the oasis. From this point, heat is no longer a concern.

Facing the waterfalls, go left and spot a flat bit of rock on the west cliff face you can climb on. Follow the jutting rocks along the wall towards the waterfall, and when the camera angle changes you will spot a crevice on the wall. Grab on to it and shimmy all the way to the right (note that you can repeatedly tap the Sprint key to shimmy faster). Pull up on the waterfall and crawl inside, go around the passage and grab the edge of the next waterfall, then resume shimmying right to climb up at the last waterfall.

Squeeze into the crawlspace (simply climb into it!) and drop through the hole in the back to a massive cavern. Don't let the water lead you to the lower level yet (if it does, it's ok, you can climb back up by using the rocky formation at the end of the stream), but pull out and approach the dinosaur skeleton and collect the SPINOSAURUS STATUETTE from its mouth, but quickly jump away before it snaps shut.

Still on solid ground, head south and climb into the manmade ledge in the back. First go all the way to the right and shimmy from the edge past the last pillar for uzi clips inside the vases, then go back and climb up to the opening in the east end. Climb up the rocky slide using the flat spots to find a second SPINOSAURUS STATUETTE in a niche in the back.

On your way back, notice a triangular ledge to the northwest you can grab with a running jump. Grab the crevice in the corner, shimmy around to the left and backflip off the wall to the ledge behind you. Shoot the vase on the other side for uzi clips before pulling up to the tall steps above. Halfway through, there's a safe gap you can drop in for shotgun shells before you reach the top.

Perform a series of jumps back and forth using the precarious rocky ledges over the chasm until you come to the third SPINOSAURUS STATUETTE. For a quick way down, you can take a courageous swan dive into the lake at the bottom.

Drop to the lower level of the cave and swim to the northeast corner for an underwater crawlspace. Get assorted ammo from the far ends of this tunnel before emerging into a worship chamber with a massive spinosaurus statue. Climb out on the broken south column, kill the alerted bats, and collect uzi clips from the corner. Jump to the flat bit of sand above water in the southeast side and, from there, to another broken column, alerting more bats as you jump to the east corner. Grab the crack above and shimmy to the opening for SECRET #1: a collectible AMETHYST SPINOSAURUS.

Swim back to the bottom of the cave and swim all the way to the opposite end. You'll see some steps leading up to a temple entrance but we're still short of one statuette, so, instead, pull out on the nearby northeast rocks and climb your way back to the top. Stay close to the rocky wall and follow it around for some more precarious ledges jutting out until you get to the northwest end. There, pull up into a crawlspace and drop at the end to slide into a secluded bit of the cave. Take the fourth SPINOSAURUS STATUETTE from the nest and, as you do, hatchlings show up.

Hop into the water and follow it to the end of the stream again, now properly geared to unlock the door at the top of the staircase. When you cross the newly revealed threshold, you're treated to a camera flyby of the Church of St. George, which also shows your welcoming committee in the form of two deinonychuses.

When that's settled, resume going up. There isn't anything you can do inside just yet, but do take a look. In the outer northwest corner you can find uzi clips next to the church wall and assorted ammo inside the vases at the top of the sand mound. Then, go into the small north doorway and climb the ladder up to the top, making a quick stop on a ledge to the right where a vase with uzi clips awaits (you spot a shiny figurine through the fence, we'll get to that eventually), then pull the switch by the windowsill to raise the shutters.

Climb back down the ladder and now take the northeast opening, in front of a small pool (at the bottom of which there are uzi clips). At the top of the steps, deal with a deinonychus before dropping onto the raised shutters and jumping into the high opening of the church wall. Safety drop to the stone beam and jump over to the central crossing. Go east, to the switch you see in the back and pull it to raise some blocks on the beams, then climb up to the opening above the switch and drop on the other side, above the entrance doorway, for SECRET #2: the UZIS and clips, plus a shiny LAPIS LAZULI DEINONYCHUS.

Go back to the church beams and notice there's a receptacle over the raised blocks to the west, so let's fetch that item. Jump all the way north and turn the wheel switch in the back. Just outside the church, a passage is now open in the southwest corner, from where two deinonychuses come out. Just past the large round door, drop into the gap for uzi clips as another pair of deinonychuses climb down to your location.

Climb up the blocks to the top and get uzi clips from the vases before entering the shrine with the DEINONYCHUS STATUETTE. Safety drop to the floor through the opening nearby and enter the church. The raised block north gives you a quick way back up to the stone beams, from there you can jump across to the west end and slot the statuette in to reveal an opening on the center of the church floor.

Crawl in and head to the end of the passage, at which point Lara spots a deinonychus happily jumping about. Jump your way across, noticing a vase with shotgun shells halfway through, and get the uzi clips before sliding down to the bottom of the pit. The wooden gate opens as you approach and you find yourself in a massive arena; and you're not alone: a carcharodontosaurus has been expecting a new challenge for who knows how long.

On both east and west ends of the arenas you can find a pair switches, each in turn activates a spike trap close by. Lure your enemy onto these traps for massive damage. When the beast is felled, five hatchlings come up from the newly opened gate north. That's where we go next.

Loop around the wall to enter the carcharodontosaurus worship chamber. On the backside of the room, swim through an opening to find an underwater lever beneath the statue, it raises a block next to its head. Climb up and jump to grab the statue head. Before pulling up, first drop from the edge and grab its jaw, pulling into its mouth to find a SHOTGUN and shells, then get back up to the top of its head (remember you can hang from the edge and press jump) and run along the statue. From the tail, take a running jump to grab the crack in the corner and pull up into the opening.

Perform a series of jumps over the safe ledges, dealing with bats as you work your way around the perimeter of the room. Around the bend, keep jumping northwards back to the statue room. When you get there, hop back from the edge and spot a crawlspace just below you, drop in for SECRET #3: the collectible EMERALD CARCHARODONTOSAURUS. Ledge jump back to the top and now jump your way to the switch you see straight ahead.

In addition to raising a shortcut block next to the gate, it also opens another gate up top, so jump across to the new opening and loop under the seats, fighting off two deinonychuses until you can step out onto the seats of the arena. You can roam around for the sights, but your point of interest is the opening up in the east wall, just above this entry point.

After the flyby, jump over the slope to grab the crack on the pillar on your left and shimmy around to safety. As you run towards the north end, kill two bats, then climb up the cracks in the corner pillar. Shimmy left to line up with the next crack in the wall so you can finally pull up on to the pillar. Shimmy around the next one, jump out of the window for a ledge going around the next one, then deal with two bats when you jump back inside. When you shimmy past the next pillar, the camera pans out to reveal a switch below: safety drop and throw it to raise trapdoors below the entrance.

Your way forward is crossing the windy bridge you see to the south, but look closely at the wall next to the switch. There are two separate "paths" of cracks you can follow. Stand by the southwest pillar, grab the wall and jump straight up to a discreet crack just above, then shimmy left around the pillar until you can jump up to the next window. Drop on the ledge outside and find another SHOTGUN and shells, then examine this corner of the arena. Jump across the diagonal walls, following it to the end, shimmying past the obstacles in your way, until you get to another pair of UZIS and clips and then, a running jump later gets you to SECRET #4, that TURQUOISE MONONYKUS you'd spotted much earlier on.

Now that the trapdoors at the east entrance are raised, you can safety drop and run back to the opening there again. Slide onto the trapdoor and jump towards that windy south bridge. Quickly sprint across before the wind sweeps you, only bothering with the bats when you're safe on the other side.

Run around the building and you'll spot a misaligned mirror at the bottom of a light shaft. Approach it and Lara will say she can turn it; do so in order to shine light through a window into the building. The entrance to said building is just further ahead. Approach the light shining in and find a movable mirror on the left, pull it twice then rotate it so the light shines onto the north mirror. A block rises next to it, use it to pull up to an opening high up on the wall.

Take a running jump to grab a crack straight ahead, shimmy left and jump to the opening above, where another mirror awaits. Pull it once, then rotate it in to shine light through the crack in the wall. Safety drop to the floor and re-enter the building again, and now rotate the central mirror to shine a light on the south mirror. It's misaligned as well, so rotate it so the light shines over the statues and watch the cutscene.

One the dust is settled, resume rotating the mirrors until the light beam reaches the left mirror in the north wall. Climb up the newly raised block there, cross the stone bridge, and pull up to a flat surface where you find another mirror. Move it in front of the light shining through the crack, and then rotate it so the light gets redirected into the last mirror inside the alcove and the way forward reveals itself.

You reach another worship chamber. Near the entrance, look at the pillar to your right and spot a crack. Use it to backflip onto a ledge above the doorway, throw the switch to spice things up, and get assorted ammo from the vases in the end of the ledge. Safety drop in the corner and approach the moving flame emitter, wait until it makes a pause at the bottom to do a running jump to grab the newly-opened gap in the pillar ahead. If you're set ablaze, keep rolling in place to put out the flames.

Jump from pillar to pillar to the other end, where you must grab a crack before jumping up to a triangular surface. Take a running jump towards the ledge with the fresco in the back and then use the slope to reach the broken pillar on the other side of the room. Pull up onto the triangular surface, walk to the edge and jump to grab the tail of the statue. Proceed to its head and take the PACHYRHINOSAURUS STATUETTE from its nose. A block lowers in the corridor, so safety drop to the floor and exit the way you came.

Instead of going back to the mirrors, head up the rocky steps. As you take the uzi clips, a deinonychus jumps in front of you. In the end you slide back into the arena, where another pair of deinonychuses are expecting you. Still on the upper seats, head west and unlock the gate on that end of the arena with your latest statuette. Kill another two deinonychuses inside and proceed through either corridor until you can enter through an opening in the outer wall.

Take a gander at the windmills and go through the opening in either end to the mechanisms in the back. Find an opening in the south wall where a pachyrhinosaurus is resting — wakey wakey. Lure it back to the back end of the windmills, where three tall wooden beams are holding the doors in place. Have the dinosaur slam all three of them to open the wind streams above. The mechanisms start to move and the creature falls back asleep, so just let it be.

From the single palm tree in the area, jump to the moving platform ahead and wait until you can jump to the block behind the stone support in the end. A new platform is now within reach, again wait until you can leap across and then onto the rotating platform. At the top of which, grab the crack in the south pillar, jump to the upper crack and shimmy around, then backflip to grab a crack in the opposite pillar. Shimmy left and backflip to grab an opening in the wall.

On the ledge above, get uzi clips to your right and follow the tunnel in the opposite passage. Go right first, where a deinonychus comes from, and jump towards the lowered drawbridge of the windmills. Leap all the way to the rightmost one and enter the area with the fan to spot an opening in the wall behind it. Walk to the edge and see another moving platform still in place, it lowers when you step on it, so approach the edge, hop back once and take a standing jump to it, that way you can keep your momentum and immediately take a running jump to the next ledge.

Jump across and pull into an opening up in the east wall, you're overlooking the arena again. Carefully navigate through the openings in the walls to the other end, jump to the ledge and shimmy across the north wall crack all the way to a secluded bit of the windmills where you find a switch. Jump to grab the opening above the switch and drop on the other side, then go right onto the lowered drawbridge and take a running jump back to where you came from in the overhanging cliff face.

Through the opposite path, you come to a block you've just lowered. Go through and jump to the wheel switch right in front of you. Turn it to open the double round doors below you, but don't drop down just yet. Instead, turn around and look to the wall ahead of you: that bit is climbable, indeed. Climb to the top and claim your MARBLE PACHYRHINOSAURUS for SECRET #5. Quite the collection, lady Croft.

Climb the ladder down slowly to the bottom, then backflip with a midair roll and keep the Action key pressed to have Lara glide onto the ledge she was just moments ago. You can now safety drop and go through the opening to reach the coast. Swim towards the ship and this marvelous adventure comes to an end.
