SETTINGS:
In the main folder, there will be an image showing the suggested settings
for the setup bat that ensures the quality / visual is as intended by me. Also
run the "RUN BEFORE GAME.REG" file to apply TR2Main settings that I
intended for the level.
LEVEL PRELUDE:
You don't need to play this level, but you can explore a new, refined manor
that was taken from Roman Plaza and has a few neat rooms to explore. You can
also listen to a small interaction between Lara and Visar, which is neat and
acts as a prelude to the main level. When you want to leave, manually exit
through the inventory or by using the quick exit function.
MAIN LEVEL:
Before you begin, note that you cannot make 3-Sector jumps because of an
injury Lara sustained in the Parisian Hideout. Thus her ability to jump is
slightly hindered. Ammo is also something you need to conserve again, but even
more tightly than before. Healing is plentiful though, so you can focus more on
being frugal with ammo counts.
You begin behind a window. Go forward and let Lara fall down to the ground
easily. You'll avoid the spikes on the ground. After that, jump up onto the
crates carefully and on the other side. Jump over the barriers that block the
exit out of the small area, and prepare to fight as Masked Goon on your left.
Press 4 on your keyboard, or go to your inventory to select and equip the Uzis
to make quick work of the Goon. He drops [Uzi Ammo x 1] so you should pick it
up. From the point of the barriers, go left and following the path you will
notice a pushblock. You can push it twice forward so it's next to the door
above for later, or simply leave it be for now. Jump over it and proceed into
the small building with a [Boat] that you will need later. Go all around the
fence and into the small storage area, where you will see three timed switches
and one crate switch.
[SECRET 01]
To get the secret behind the door, go to one of the switches and press
it. Be quick to press the other two as this door is timed. Once you press all
three, a door opens and you can get into the small area to grab [SECRET 01 -
WINE COLLECTION]. At this point the door will have closed, so use the switch
once or twice to re-open it again, then leave the small fenced off area.
At the end of the room, you will notice a button on top of a high crate. Press
it and you will get a camera hint showing the doors blocking the [BOAT] have
been raised. Go back to the [BOAT] and enter it. Be careful not to enter the
water as there is a fan that will kill you at this moment in time, although the
spot with the boat is safe from the current. Use the [BOAT] and travel alongside
the water path, until you reach a second [BOAT]. Park it and hop on the wooden
platform, and shoot through the two windows to collect a [Outdoor Survival Pack
- Small Medipack]. Go on the other side, shooting the windows if you feel like
it. Go through the path and prepare to face against a Goon with a Rifle,
alongside a brain-dead Masked Goon that might run into a wall because of the
fences. Sorry. The rifle-wielding goon will drop [Uzi Ammo x 2], while the
Masked Goon drops a [Outdoor Survival Pack - Small Medipack] ever so
selflessly. On the wall where the Masked Goon enemy was, you can find a crate
to get up there. On the wall next to the two doors there is a timed switch. Use
it to trigger the two drawbridges to drop, allowing you to hop on them.
Once you get to the second one, jump on the sloped wall and then make a
slightly curved jump to get on a safe ledge on the left side, right next to the
wall. Check the fenced off area to the direction of where the boats are, and
notice the switch. Jump onto the platforms and use the switch to open the two
doors blocking this water path for later. Go back to the spot right next to two
swinging traps. Climb up and carefully make you way to the other side, where
you can pick up the [Blade Trap Room Key] which you'll use soon enough. If not
doing the secret, you can simply jump back to the safety of the water or the
land, depending on how you wish to do it. Be careful as two enemies spawn on
the far ledge, and going to the water will likely drain you of medipacks.
[SECRET 02]
Carefully walk through the spikes and go on the slope, aiming a curved
jump to the slopes to hang onto the ledge of them. Carefully shimmy until you
are between the spikes, then drop down and pick up the [SECRET 2 - LADY MASK].
Jump up on the slope ledge, climb up and jump to do a backwards jump into the
water. Be careful as two enemies await you to give you hell for daring to go
into the water.
Deal with the Masked Goon and Shotgun Goon, hoping you don't waste too much
healing on them. The Masked Goon will drop [Uzi Ammo x 2] so pick that up. Then
use the two boats, through the water pathway you unlocked. One boat needs to be
used to destroy the water mines, which is done in the same way as in VENICE in
the original game. If you don't know how to do that, simply speed towards the
mines and jump out of the boat before the boat reaches them. The momentum will
carry the boat into the mines, detonating them and leaving you alive. Use the
second boat to go through and to reach a 2-click ledge, then use the boat to
jump onto the two click ledge with some ease. Proceed towards the door and you
will face a Shotgun Goon and a Doberman. Defeat them and the Shotgun Goon will
drop a [Outdoor Survival Pack - Small Medipack] and [Uzi Ammo x 2]. Proceed
inside of the room to use a level switch on the wall next to a door, opening
this and a door next to it. Go outside and head through the second door you
opened to get to the Blade Trap Room.
[BLADE TRAP ROOM]
Pick up the [Advanced Tactical Recovery Pack - Large Medipack] and turn on
the switch, starting the timed sequence. Instantly, climb on the brick slope
and jump backwards to easily get on the first trapdoor. Do a standing jump to
get on the second one, and go up to the edge of the next one, then doing a
running jump to get on the back half of the next trapdoor to avoid the blade.
Then jump up the next two trapdoors and make a stand jump onto the next one.
Position yourself close enough to make a stand jump onto the final trapdoor,
enduring potential damage from the blade trap. Quickly hop into the fenced off
sector with a keyhole before the door closes. Don't worry, the keyhole will
unlock the door and allow you to escape. Use the [Blade Trap Room Key] and
escape outside the room safely. Go up the staircase and up the ladder, then
jump down safely down, and make your way to the pushable from the start. The
door will now opened with allows you to go inside. Be wary of the statue trap
as you make you way to the switch on the other side of the statue. It will
trigger a drawbridge to drop down. Go around and go onto the drawbridge,
shooting the two windows in the building in front of you, then jump into it. Go
to the switch and use it, causing an elevator to go up allowing you to go down.
Just don't go on top of the elevator while it's moving, you'll be stuck in the
ceiling.
The building managers profusely apologize for this issue.
Drop down into the water below, and follow the path leading into the bricked
water section. Pick up the [Outdoor Survival Pack - Small Medipack] on the way
and go all the way through to pick up one of the two [Office Key] you need for
the finale. Use the underwater switch to drop a drawbridge down (man, lots of
those around here) with a camera angle to show the position of it. The blade
traps will activate, forcing you to weave through. Go all the way back to the
spot with the elevator, and go through the second underwater path to end up at
the spot where you get the first boat. The small current prevents you from
backtracking into the area from this spot. Climb up and make your way to where
the new drawbridge has been dropped. Jump on it, then to the switch on a raised
wall. Use it, and one of the underwater fans drops down. Go into the water and
now safely let the current take you. The second fan is fenced off, but don't
try forcing yourself against it just in case. Look up and you'll see an air gap
with a different wall texture. Go up to it, climbing on the low point. Jump up
to the higher point and pick up a [Circuit Board]... surprisingly dry.
Go down and through a crack in the wall, allowing you to dodge the still
present current due to the second fan. Climb up and return to the spot with the
Circuit Board slot [When you exit the blade room and go up the staircase and
the ladder, it's on the wall at the far end.] and insert the [Circuit Board]
dropping yet another drawbridge down. Okay, but why are there so many
drawbridges? Anyway, ignore it, and jump onto it and through the fences, grabbing
the [Advanced Tactical Recovery Pack - Large Medipack] and jumping through the
collapsing boards to get to the other side. Beware, you need to make it to the
other side this first time, otherwise you'll be locked from reaching that area
permanently. After you make it on the other side, the swinging bag will start.
Jump through it on a slope and another slope, avoiding glass shards that
threathen to kill Lara. Jump on the next slope to make Lara grab the ledge of
the slopes leading to a switch. Be careful not to jump on the glass shards that
are on the switch sector. Use it and the door behind you opens up, also letting
loose a Shotgun Goon and a Rifle Goon, the rifle goon dropping a [Advanced
Tactical Recovery Pack - Large Medipack] and [Uzi Ammo x 1], as well as a
[Outdoor Survival Pack - Small Medipack] on the ground nearby. Then, position
yourself well enough or use the slope to shoot the timed bell, starting the
trapdoors and blades. You have to reach the switch that can only be used when
the trapdoor is up, so time the jumps well- they're simply enough and you can
use a medipack to tank some damage. Use the switch and the trapdoors drops
down, opening a door on the far end of the room. Once you get close, two
swinging boxes begin to swing, requiring some timing to make it to the other
side, since the water is full of glass shards.
[SECRET 03]
Jump on the sloped sector in a way to grab the ledge, then drop down
into a spot where spikes are absent. Weave through the swinging bags and reach
a somewhat obscure rose near the door to this area. After collecting it simply
climb up to a dry ledge and continue.
[ALL SECRETS REWARD] - [MP5 X 1, MP5 AMMO X 2]
Use the slightly sloped ledge to aim yourself on the sloped sector, jumping
onto the collapsing planks and instantly side jumping to reach the wall. Use
the switch to trigger the trapdoors to raise up, using them to get to the
fenced off area. Then go on the window spot, and pick up the second [Office
Key], seeing that the door opens afterwards. Go through the door, and to the
final objective- the double doors with the blue texture, the ones next to the
first timed switch with the two drawbridges. Use both of your [Office Keys] to
unlock the door, preparing to face a Double Revolver Goon, as well as two dogs
that come to attack you too. Kill them all using your resources to tank his
damage as you widdle his health down, also using the MP5 if you had gotten it.
Once he is down finally, pick up the [Chronicles Of Old Order Crusaders], which
Lara seemingly doesn't want to open for us, and the [Evac Chopper Station Key].
As before, do the double drawbridge timed run again, and go on the raised spot
where you opened this area's water door. You can use the [Evac Chopper Station
Key] there, and you will be able to call for a chopper evac. Once you use the
switch, you might hear a Helicopter approach. Wait for a bit and see a camera
angle that shows you the chopper coming for you, and the level ends as Lara is
presumably extracted from the area.
