GYM TRAINING

 

You can play this optional level for a preview of the relatively new moves to be encountered in the game proper. Refer as necessary to the New Moves Manual found in your inventory.

 

Begin in the foyer of Lara's mansion, which has been converted to a gymnasium. Look behind you to see three red lights over the exit door. Go the NE corner, jump over the railing and pull up into the passage. Take a sprint jump over the gap and pull up in front of a floor lever that lowers some spears. Return to the gym, run toward the SE corner and jump up to grab the crack in the brick structure to your right. Ledge jump up to grab the top of the structure, shimmy left around the corner and ledge jump back near the wall to grab the triangular corner. Pull up, go past the lowered spears and push the floor lever for a cut scene showing that one of the exit lights has turned from red to green.

 

Safety drop to the floor, run across to the room toward the NW corner, pull up into the passage there and crawl to a floor lever that lowers another set of spears. Exit the passage, run toward the SW corner, turn to face N and jump to grab the lower swingpole. Mount it (jump key), jump forward to grab the higher swingpole, slide right, mount up and turn right to assume a tightrope-walking position. Jump forward onto the balcony, turn right and jump over the railing to a floor lever where the spears lowered. Push the lever to turn a second exit light from red to green.

 

Turn to your right, face the vertical blue pole and take a running jump to grab it. Climb to the top, turn a bit right to face the suspended platform and jump forward to grab a blue pole attached to the ceiling. Lara will automatically slide up higher. Jump off onto the platform and take a running jump over the railing to grab the swingpole. Slide if necessary to face the alcove ahead and jump toward it by pressing the crouch key. Grab the edge, climb down the ladder surface and monkey swing toward a floor lever. Don't simply drop, but press the crouch key near (but not completely at) the end of the monkey bars to jump and land next to the floor lever. Push it to open the exit door and go on through to finish this training level.

Collecting a Score of Easter Eggs

 

Begin next to a small pool at the Dolphin Resort. Approach Sylvia the Proprietress in the red dress, take the familiar froot juice or whatever (which seems to serve the purpose of a medipack, so hereafter it will be referred to as an FFJ) from the nearby table and engage in a little chitchat with Sylvia. Among other things, you learn that you're about to embark on a collection exercise of the type this builder seems to be so fond of. At the end of the conversation spears will lower to provide access to a picturesque lake. You can delete 145.ogg from the audio folder if the looping music starts getting on your nerves.

 

Take another FFJ from the table on the right and go around left past another table with an Extra Potent Ouzo (your guess is as good as mine, but I would refrain from imbibing if I were you) to the W opening ("Excursions"). Continue forward until the camera shifts upward to highlight the first of 20 Easter Eggs to be located in the level. Loop around left and open the E door to a small multi-purpose room where you're met by a friendly kitten. Grab an FFJ and flares from the companion shelves, shoot the vases in the S window and hop up to find a button that opens a ceiling trap door. Get down, climb the bookcase opposite the stacked crates and back flip to the opened trap door. Vault out onto a balcony, face NE and side flip left onto the sloped roof. Slide and grab, shimmy left around the corner, pull up at the sloped portion and take a rolling back flip to grab the balcony where some dude appears to be nursing a hangover.

 

Jump W over the railing to collect the EASTER EGG (1 of 20) on the next balcony, then continue to the longer W balcony occupied by a couple apparently engaged in an argument. Grab the YELLOW KEY from the railing, jump back E along the balconies and safety drop to the paved walkway. Exit to the lake area, go around counterclockwise and come to a table with another EPO. Go back a few steps and use the Yellow Key in the doorway receptacle to open the adjacent gate.   

 

Go down to trigger a remote camera view of the area ahead. The table to your left has an EPO. Go between the stone pillars to collect another EASTER EGG ( 2 of 20) and continue past a third stone pillar (turn around to see a key receptacle on its back side) and through a tunnel into a lower fountain square. Go past the tree to your left for an EASTER EGG (3 of 20) and continue to the Cafe de Flore to find a table with an EPO and a hovering EASTER EGG (4 of 20). Go up the nearby steps to a balcony with another EASTER EGG (5 of 20) and look across E to see still another one that's yet inaccessible.

 

Go back to the steps, and about halfway down note the swingpole ahead. To grab it successfully, stand just to the right of the small pot with the red flowers and take a running jump from that step. Grab the pole, swing around and jump off onto a triangular ledge. Jump W to the wall ledge, face N and jump up to shoot the window. Hop into the alcove and down the other side to find a wall switch. Save your game before pulling it down. If you don't get a cut scene showing a row of spears being lowered elsewhere, reload and try again. If and when you get that cut scene, return to the triangular ledge and take a running jump E to grab the first of two swingpoles. Swing around, jump to grab the second one and swing around with the sprint key depressed to give you an extra boost to clear the sloped roof past the lowered spears when you jump forward.

 

Go to the N window, shoot the window and jump into the opening. Shoot the windows around to your right and hop down to the balcony for another YELLOW KEY on the table to your right and an EASTER EGG (6 of 20) to your left that you glimpsed earlier. Hop over the railing onto the sloped roof, slide and grab and drop in front of the Cafe de Flore. Run back S to that receptacle you noted earlier and use the Yellow Key to lower a column on the stone pillar. Pull up, turn left and jump onto the balcony. Hop over the railing to grab the swingpole, swing around with sprint and jump onto a ledge where an EASTER EGG (7 of 20) awaits.

 

Take a running jump onto the taller column, turn right and stand jump to grab the bridge where there's a gap in the railing. Pull up onto the bridge, reverse roll and take a running jump E to grab the edge of a balcony where you can pull up for another EASTER EGG (8 of 20). Go around to your left and up the steps to a veranda. Note the spears to your left and carefully stand jump to grab the pole connecting the sloped roofs. Slide down a bit, face the swingpole, jump to grab it, mount up and jump to grab another pole. Jump onto another veranda with a floor lever that lowers spears to your left and in the pool below.

 

Turn left, jump into the water and swim around E to where the spears lowered. Pull out and take the BLUE KEY from the plinth. Swim back the way you came, pull out S, face E with your back against the wall and stand jump to grab the first of three swingpoles. Mount up, jump to grab the one higher up, repeat and you'll return to the veranda with the floor lever. Use the vertical poles to return to the steps and go down to the previous balcony. Jump to the bridge and go a bit to your right toward a closed gate. Jump over the railing to grab the swingpole, jump over to the balcony where two guys are looking intently at something and pull down the wall switch to open the bridge gate.

 

Use the swingpole to get back there, go on through and enjoy the picturesque view as you cross a much wider bridge. You can see a wall switch dead ahead, but before you get there turn to your left and climb the vines to a balcony for an EASTER EGG (9 of 20). Look out over the lake and you can see three more of them perched on wooden platforms. Get back down pull down that wall switch you noted. Look up to see that you need to locate and pull down one more wall switch to open the adjacent gate. Go down the steps to a shopping area and continue looping around to a receptacle for your Blue Key. The spears to your left lower, but they pop up again as you enter the next room.

 

There are four bird pedestals with a directional arrow on the ceiling over each one. Turn the SW pedestal one time (action and right arrow keys), the SE pedestal to the left three times, the NE pedestal to the left one time and the NW pedestal to the right two times. The spears lower in the E alcove, allowing you to take the RESORT EXIT GATE KEY from the plinth and lower the exit spears. Return to the bridge and jump W over the railing into the lake. Swim to your right and pull out onto the S walkway. Turn left and follow to a small table with an EPO. Jump into the lake and swim S under the waterfall to a hovering Easter Egg you can't reach.

 

Don't despair, but swim into the next area and locate an underwater lever in the W wall that raises a couple of platforms below the EASTER EGG (10 of 20) you can now reach after grabbing the shotgun ammo underneath the lady in the rowboat. From the NW corner of the platforms, stand jump onto the first of four short vertical poles. Jump all four to reach a ledge with overhead monkey bars. Monkey swing N (start by going left or right if Lara balks at moving forward) and drop into an alcove with a wall switch that turns off a flame blower elsewhere. Monkey swing back the other way, drop to the ledge and stand with your back to the W wall. Take a running jump to grab the swingpole over the water, slide left all the way, mount up, turn left and stand jump to grab the jutting block.

 

Pull up, reverse roll and jump NE onto the ledge. Run to the opening, where a remote camera reveals a ceiling trap door. Pull it down facing W (one hop back from the wall), jump to grab the opening and pull up S into a cramped area with an EASTER EGG (11 of 20). Drop down W into a small dining room, take the FFJ from the corner shelf and exit N past the opened door. Turn right just past the tree and pull down the wall switch to bring out a couple of swingpoles to supplement the one already there. Stand at the N edge facing the nearest swingpole, hop back, take one step back and from there take a running jump to grab the swingpole. Hit the sprint key to jump and grab the next lower one, repeat, mount up and jump down to the triangular ledge. Hop over to the balcony, push the floor lever to raise a nearby column and drop into the water.     

 

Locate and pull the underwater lever in the alcove below the balcony to lower spears elsewhere, surface and pull out onto the raised column. The following sequence to acquire the next Easter Egg was apparently timed in an earlier version, but it was not in the version I played. Jump back to the balcony, to the triangular ledge and use the swingpoles to get back up to the previous wall switch. Run around the house until you reach another swingpole. Jump to grab it, mount up, turn left and jump toward the EASTER EGG (12 of 20).  Get down, continue around in the same direction and you can see a high-hovering, out-of-reach Easter Egg. First, turn right there and go between the trees for another EASTER EGG (13 of 20). Return to the building with the hovering Easter Egg, climb the vines next to the front door and take a rolling back flip at the top to grab the jutting ledge. Pull up to collect the EASTER EGG (14 of 20), jump back to the vines and climb back down.

 

Follow the walkway N and E to a wall switch.  Pull it down to open the gates to an EASTER EGG (15 of 20) you saw earlier from the other side. Don't go through the opened gates. Instead, go back and stand at the W end of the walkway. Take a running jump to grab the upper balcony and pull up for another EASTER EGG (16 of 20). Drop back down, continue around the building and jump into the lake. Swim across W to the raised column, pull out onto it and jump over to the balcony you visited earlier. Go around left, down the steps and through an alley to a small park occupied by another combating couple. Relieve them of an EPO and go past them and up the nearby steps to a closed door.

 

Turn around, and with your back to the wall stand jump to grab the swingpole. Swing around with sprint, jump off to grab the next swingpole, slide right toward the E wall and just before you reach the purple bra swing around with sprint and jump off to land on the stable roof. Walk up right to the wall, hop back, take one step back and stand jump at an angle to grab the swingpole. Swing around with sprint, jump off to grab the next swingpole, slide right and mount up. Turn left, jump to grab the balcony and pull up. Go past the guy with the hangover, face the opposite balcony and execute a running jump over the railing to grab the N balcony. Take a running jump E over the railing to grab the swingpole, swing and jump to the next balcony, shoot the vases to get them out of your way and go around for an EASTER EGG (17 of 20).

 

Hop NE to the next ledge, go around and push the wall button to drop a motorboat into the lake. Reverse roll and run off the edge to land in the motorboat (if you miss, just surface and climb inside). Ride around the lake to collect the remaining EASTER EGGS (18, 19 and 20 of 20) by driving up the wooden ramps and hitting the jump key so you won't slide underneath them. You'll get a congratulatory onscreen message, so drive N to the Dolphin Resort, dismount (delete key + right or left arrow key) and go through the E (Excursions) opening. Turn left when the camera angle changes, continue to the N door and open it. Approach Sylvia at the bar, hit the action key and listen to her talk without allowing you to get in a word edgewise. When she's through, the STRANGE MEDUSA DOLL has appeared in your inventory.

 

The Tsougrisma Tournament

 

Retrace your steps to the lake area, get in the motorboat and drive S toward the bridge. The boat theme (012.ogg) can be deleted from your audio folder if it becomes annoying. When you reach the hanging roots near the waterfall, turn the motorboat to face E, dismount and swim toward the opening that's blocked by spears. Below is an empty receptacle between two others. Place the Resort Exit Gate Key to lower the spears, get back into the motorboat and drive into a private area of the lake. Dismount onto the sand bar to your left and shoot the fish that swims your way. Dive down into the water and locate the NE opening. Swim inside and stay left to reach an alcove with an underwater lever. Save your game before pulling it. It's supposed to lower a column blocking the opening ahead, but in my game this didn't happen the first time I pulled it.

 

When the column lowers, swim past the opening, surface and pull out in front of a wall switch that lowers three columns outside and raises one behind you. Use the raised column to reach a cave overlooking the private lake area. Slide down to the sand bar and make your way on foot to the building ahead. Hop onto the step below the lowered columns and pull up onto the first jutting ledge. Jump the ledges W, continue to a broken pillar near the wall and jump S to the next ledge. Take a running jump over the slope to grab a vertical pole, climb to the top and stand jump to a rock ledge. Follow to a cave, where a brief cut scene results in a CHANGE OUTFIT being added to your inventory.

 

Run forward and slide down into a shallow pool. Go to your right past the waterfall and pick up the SHOTGUN as well as shotgun ammo near the skeletal remains. Head W and climb up to a ledge overlooking a deep pit. Run off the edge and you'll slide safely down near a short pole. Get up to its level, hop onto it and turn to face W. Jump up toward a cave entrance and slide down next to an underground lake. Jump onto the nearest pillar and take a running jump to grab the jutting W ledge. Pull up in front of a wall switch that turns off the flames protecting one of the pillars. Make your way along the pillars in a counterclockwise direction, go around to pull up left next to the waterfall and sprint jump E to grab the waterfall across the gap.

 

Pull up, run forward to a ceiling hole, turn around and pull up onto a slope. Ledge jump back, grab the swingpole and turn around in place. Swing around with sprint and jump off to land next to a stairwell. Go down to a triangular ledge, turn around and pull up higher. Take a running jump and grab over the gap, pull up next to a floor lever that lowers spears down below and   return to the previous ledge. Drop down next to the lowered spears and crawl to a crypt where you'll find the CROSSBOW and a quiver of standard arrows. Stand in front of the S wall switch and save your game for a timed exercise. The following in a few words is the required sequence, but it's much easier said than done.

 

Pull down the switch and take a rolling back flip. Stand jump to grab the first swingpole, turn while swinging and mount up. Stand jump to grab the next higher swingpole, turn while swinging and mount up. Stand jump onto the ledge and run past the timed spears.

Turn to your right, hang from the floor hole and safety drop onto a ledge with a gorilla running around below, jump E into a rocky niche and push the floor lever to open a nearby gate. Hop up right and take a running jump NW to land on a lower ledge. Turn around to shoot the rampaging gorilla, proceed W past the opened gate and engage two more gorillas that are charging toward you. Don't go up the steps, but pull up right onto a block, turn left and jump up to grab the wall crack. Shimmy left around the corner, continue through a fixed camera to the next corner and ledge jump back to grab another wall crack. Shimmy left just around the corner and ledge jump back to grab the top of a pillar. Pull up and hop down forward next to skeletal remains.

 

Run off into the nearby floor hole and take the COPPER KEY from the plinth. Reverse roll, pull down the wall switch to open the exit gate and go left up the steps you ignored earlier. Turn left at the top, stoop to shoot the vases blocking a crawl space and jump into the underground lake. Locate and save your game before pulling the S underwater lever. It's supposed to activate an overhead blade, but in my game this did not happen on the first attempt. In any event, if you continue pulling the underwater lever the blade should turn off and on with each pull. When you manage to make the blade come to rest against the wall, take a running jump NE with a right curve to land on the rocky slope, slide and grab, ledge jump back and grab the facing slope, ledge jump back a second time to grab the ceiling and monkey swing to the W opening.

 

Drop down, follow the passage and crawl under another swinging blade after rounding the corner. At this point the whole area became completely and inexplicably flooded in my game, forcing me to reload. When you reach a connecting corridor, climb the W wall, transfer to the ceiling and monkey swing toward a vertical pole. Hit the crouch key to jump off and grab it, jump to grab the next pole and from there into the passage ahead. Follow to a Poseidon mural, jump up as if to grab the globe he's holding and instead grab the slope above the mural. Ledge jump back to grab a higher slope, ledge jump back a second time to grab a higher ledge and pull up. Turn around and jump the gap to an alcove with  wall switch that disables a blade trap a little further on (make sure it's not blocking the key receptacle when it stops).  

 

Get back down to the corridors, follow past the murals and slide down to the disabled blade. Use the Copper Key to open a nearby door and drop to a lower passage. Crawl underneath the active blade and turn right to a ledge overlooking the area below. Drop down and search the raised slab for a small healing supply, the UZIS and uzi ammo. Grab another 2 x uzi ammo on the N ledge and approach the working gears on the S ledge. Pull down all three wall switches, timing the small gears so that they're aligned with the others (start pulling as each gear reaches its lower cycle).

 

Go around to the SE corner, jump to grab the swingpole (be careful not to miss and become stuck in the statue's collision). Slide right, mount up and jump (keeping the up arrow key depressed) to land near a wall switch that lowers the spears to your left (assuming the gears down below are properly aligned). Step out onto a balcony and take a running jump across the room to grab the facing balcony. Pull up near a

 floor level that opens the door down below and triggers a brief flyby featuring two raging gorillas. Drop down, deal with the critters and head past the opened N door and down the steps to trigger another flyby and bring another gorilla running. 

 

Vault up onto the ledge with the vases, turn left and go through the opening to find flares, a spare SHOTGUN and 2 x shotgun ammo near the wall. Note the nearby steps leading down to the lake below, but for now go back W along the ledge with the vases and continue around the upper periphery until you reach a N cave. Hop down, enter the cave and slide down near a N wall switch that disables an underwater blade trap in the lake. Go back S the way you came, go up the short steps to your right for a large healing supply and go through the gap in the railing to jump into the water below. Swim N past some colorful plants and into the opening ahead and below. Save your game in front of the timed N underwater lever next to the disabled blade.

 

Flip turn, swim S to the underground lake, turn right, surface and pull out into the opening in the E wall. Run up the steps you noted earlier, sprint W along the ledge with the vases and repeat your counterclockwise circuit of the upper periphery. This time, however, continue E along the ledge where you picked up the large healing supply, go down the steps and turn left past the timed spears. Push the large wall button to raise a column in the lake, go back up to the ledge, run to the end of the railing, look down right and run off the edge onto the raised column. Face W and take a running jump to grab the opening. Pull up near a floor lever that opens the gate on the S ledge.

 

Get there with running jumps to and from the raised column, enter the passage and go around the corner to face another closed gate. Turn left into the side room, back flip onto the NW slope and jump off to grab the monkey bars. Climb to the ceiling, shift left and drop to an upper passage. Loop around right to a wall switch that opens the gate down below. Get down there, enter the W room and go past the tree to a balcony where you can see a lion prowling about below that you may be able to target and shoot from where you are. Climb down the long ladder at the end of the balcony, shoot the lion if necessary and hop up E. Turn around with your back against the wall and stand jump to grab the swingpole, mount up and tightrope walk left toward the raised spears. Just before you reach them, turn right by pressing the crouch key, jump to grab the higher swingpole, swing around and jump to grab the third swingpole. Mount up, turn left and jump to activate the jump switch that lowers those spears.

 

Get back onto that first swingpole, tightrope walk to the lowered spears and jump into the alcove. Pull down the wall switch that lowers more spears elsewhere, drop down to the shallow water and climb the ladder back up to the balcony. Look to your right for 2 x desert eagle ammo, shotgun ammo and a small healing supply next to the pillar, then face W and perform a sprint jump to grab the balcony on the other side of the room. Pull up, find a large healing supply amidst the rubble on your right and go to the NW ledge. Shoot the lion down below and take a running jump S to grab the far ledge. Pull up, stand at the W wall and back flip onto the slope. Jump off to grab the pillar crack and shimmy left around the corner. Ledge jump back past the lowered spears and grab the large healing supply from the plinth at the end of the passage. You may or may not need to engage the knight patrolling this area (in my game he was stuck against the wall).

 

Follow the ledge clockwise to a balcony, sprint jump past the waterfall to grab the cave opening and pull up. Follow around and come to the first of a series of vertical poles. Jump them all, and save when you reach the last one. Slide as far down as possible and jump to grab a structure with a floor lever. I found it easier to make the grab by releasing the action key for a split second after initiating the jump. Pull up and push the floor lever to bring out more swingpoles on the structure, jump over to the S ledge and pull down the wall switch to open a gate down below. Jump back to the floor lever (watch out for the low ceiling), continue with a jump to the N ledge and go around to a second floor lever that opens another gate down below.

 

Safety drop to the floor and enter the N passage. Shoot the lion in the lower room to your left, go down and shoot the vases for shotgun ammo. Locate and activate the nearby jump switch to turn on the spear trap that blocks the passage ahead. Your attention is directed to the top of the structure surrounded by the spears. Time a running jump past the spears to the right of the structure and follow the balcony around to your right for a large healing supply. Drop down through a gap in the railing and deal with two gorillas. Wade toward the E jump switch and pause for an underwater small healing supply along the way. Activate the jump switch to lower spears at one end of the balcony, turn around to engage two lions and head SW to find a cracked pillar.

 

Face N, jump up to grab the crack and ledge jump back to grab the balcony. Pull up, go right to where the spears lowered and pull down the wall switch to disable a blade trap high overhead. Go to the break in the railing, take a running jump W onto the left slope, slide and jump to grab the swingpole. Mount up, turn right and take just a few tightrope steps toward the wall. Jump to grab the wall crack, shimmy left around corners to near the end of the crack and ledge jump back to grab the ledge with the disabled blade trap. Pull up, stand against the vertical pole and jump straight up to grab it. Swivel around to face the lower pole and jump to grab or land on it. Climb up if necessary to stand on top, turn to your left to face the next pole and stand jump to land on it. Turn a bit right, jump to grab the monkey bars and monkey swing toward the balcony.

 

Drop with a jump (crouch key) to land on the balcony, jump over the debris and hop to the structure with the spears below and take the LYRE from the plinth. Run off S and go through the doorway to the courtyard with the tree. Continue past it through the opened S gateway and save your game. Hurry along the winding passage as spear traps are triggered on a slightly delayed basis. You can make it through without having to use the sprint key. When you get past the spear tiles, stop and wait as a sword drops from the ceiling.

Drop down next to the lowered spears and crawl to a crypt where you'll find the CROSSBOW and a quiver of standard arrows. Stand in front of the S wall switch and save your game for a timed exercise. The following in a few words is the required sequence, but it's much easier said than done.

 

Pull down the switch and take a rolling back flip. Stand jump to grab the first swingpole, turn while swinging and mount up. Stand jump to grab the next higher swingpole, turn while swinging and mount up. Stand jump onto the ledge and run past the timed spears.

 

Turn to your right, hang from the floor hole and safety drop onto a ledge with a gorilla running around below, jump E into a rocky niche and push the floor lever to open a nearby gate. Hop up right and take a running jump NW to land on a lower ledge. Turn around to shoot the rampaging gorilla, proceed W past the opened gate and engage two more gorillas that are charging toward you. Don't go up the steps, but pull up right onto a block, turn left and jump up to grab the wall crack. Shimmy left around the corner, continue through a fixed camera to the next corner and ledge jump back to grab another wall crack. Shimmy left just around the corner and ledge jump back to grab the top of a pillar. Pull up and hop down forward next to skeletal remains.

 

Run off into the nearby floor hole and take the COPPER KEY from the plinth. Reverse roll, pull down the wall switch to open the exit gate and go left up the steps you ignored earlier. Turn left at the top, stoop to shoot the vases blocking a crawl space and jump into the underground lake. Locate and save your game before pulling the S underwater lever. It's supposed to activate an overhead blade, but in my game this did not happen on the first attempt. In any event, if you continue pulling the underwater lever the blade should turn off and on with each pull. When you manage to make the blade come to rest against the wall, take a running jump NE with a right curve to land on the rocky slope, slide and grab, ledge jump back and grab the facing slope, ledge jump back a second time to grab the ceiling and monkey swing to the W opening.

 

Drop down, follow the passage and crawl under another swinging blade after rounding the corner. At this point the whole area became completely and inexplicably flooded in my game, forcing me to reload. When you reach a connecting corridor, climb the W wall, transfer to the ceiling and monkey swing toward a vertical pole. Hit the crouch key to jump off and grab it, jump to grab the next pole and from there into the passage ahead. Follow to a Poseidon mural, jump up as if to grab the globe he's holding and instead grab the slope above the mural. Ledge jump back to grab a higher slope, ledge jump back a second time to grab a higher ledge and pull up. Turn around and jump the gap to an alcove with  wall switch that disables a blade trap a little further on (make sure it's not blocking the key receptacle when it stops).  

 

Get back down to the corridors, follow past the murals and slide down to the disabled blade. Use the Copper Key to open a nearby door and drop to a lower passage. Crawl underneath the active blade and turn right to a ledge overlooking the area below. Drop down and search the raised slab for a small healing supply, the UZIS and uzi ammo. Grab another 2 x uzi ammo on the N ledge and approach the working gears on the S ledge. Pull down all three wall switches, timing the small gears so that they're aligned with the others (start pulling as each gear reaches its lower cycle).

 

Go around to the SE corner, jump to grab the swingpole (be careful not to miss and become stuck in the statue's collision). Slide right, mount up and jump (keeping the up arrow key depressed) to land near a wall switch that lowers the spears to your left (assuming the gears down below are properly aligned). Step out onto a balcony and take a running jump across the room to grab the facing balcony. Pull up near a

 floor level that opens the door down below and triggers a brief flyby featuring two raging gorillas. Drop down, deal with the critters and head past the opened N door and down the steps to trigger another flyby and bring another gorilla running. 

 

Vault up onto the ledge with the vases, turn left and go through the opening to find flares, a spare SHOTGUN and 2 x shotgun ammo near the wall. Note the nearby steps leading down to the lake below, but for now go back W along the ledge with the vases and continue around the upper periphery until you reach a N cave. Hop down, enter the cave and slide down near a N wall switch that disables an underwater blade trap in the lake. Go back S the way you came, go up the short steps to your right for a large healing supply and go through the gap in the railing to jump into the water below. Swim N past some colorful plants and into the opening ahead and below. Save your game in front of the timed N underwater lever next to the disabled blade.

 

Flip turn, swim S to the underground lake, turn right, surface and pull out into the opening in the E wall. Run up the steps you noted earlier, sprint W along the ledge with the vases and repeat your counterclockwise circuit of the upper periphery. This time, however, continue E along the ledge where you picked up the large healing supply, go down the steps and turn left past the timed spears. Push the large wall button to raise a column in the lake, go back up to the ledge, run to the end of the railing, look down right and run off the edge onto the raised column. Face W and take a running jump to grab the opening. Pull up near a floor lever that opens the gate on the S ledge.

 

Get there with running jumps to and from the raised column, enter the passage and go around the corner to face another closed gate. Turn left into the side room, back flip onto the NW slope and jump off to grab the monkey bars. Climb to the ceiling, shift left and drop to an upper passage. Loop around right to a wall switch that opens the gate down below. Get down there, enter the W room and go past the tree to a balcony where you can see a lion prowling about below that you may be able to target and shoot from where you are. Climb down the long ladder at the end of the balcony, shoot the lion if necessary and hop up E. Turn around with your back against the wall and stand jump to grab the swingpole, mount up and tightrope walk left toward the raised spears. Just before you reach them, turn right by pressing the crouch key, jump to grab the higher swingpole, swing around and jump to grab the third swingpole. Mount up, turn left and jump to activate the jump switch that lowers those spears.

 

Get back onto that first swingpole, tightrope walk to the lowered spears and jump into the alcove. Pull down the wall switch that lowers more spears elsewhere, drop down to the shallow water and climb the ladder back up to the balcony. Look to your right for 2 x desert eagle ammo, shotgun ammo and a small healing supply next to the pillar, then face W and perform a sprint jump to grab the balcony on the other side of the room. Pull up, find a large healing supply amidst the rubble on your right and go to the NW ledge. Shoot the lion down below and take a running jump S to grab the far ledge. Pull up, stand at the W wall and back flip onto the slope. Jump off to grab the pillar crack and shimmy left around the corner. Ledge jump back past the lowered spears and grab the large healing supply from the plinth at the end of the passage. You may or may not need to engage the knight patrolling this area (in my game he was stuck against the wall).

 

Follow the ledge clockwise to a balcony, sprint jump past the waterfall to grab the cave opening and pull up. Follow around and come to the first of a series of vertical poles. Jump them all, and save when you reach the last one. Slide as far down as possible and jump to grab a structure with a floor lever. I found it easier to make the grab by releasing the action key for a split second after initiating the jump. Pull up and push the floor lever to bring out more swingpoles on the structure, jump over to the S ledge and pull down the wall switch to open a gate down below. Jump back to the floor lever (watch out for the low ceiling), continue with a jump to the N ledge and go around to a second floor lever that opens another gate down below.

 

Safety drop to the floor and enter the N passage. Shoot the lion in the lower room to your left, go down and shoot the vases for shotgun ammo. Locate and activate the nearby jump switch to turn on the spear trap that blocks the passage ahead. Your attention is directed to the top of the structure surrounded by the spears. Time a running jump past the spears to the right of the structure and follow the balcony around to your right for a large healing supply. Drop down through a gap in the railing and deal with two gorillas. Wade toward the E jump switch and pause for an underwater small healing supply along the way. Activate the jump switch to lower spears at one end of the balcony, turn around to engage two lions and head SW to find a cracked pillar.

 

Face N, jump up to grab the crack and ledge jump back to grab the balcony. Pull up, go right to where the spears lowered and pull down the wall switch to disable a blade trap high overhead. Go to the break in the railing, take a running jump W onto the left slope, slide and jump to grab the swingpole. Mount up, turn right and take just a few tightrope steps toward the wall. Jump to grab the wall crack, shimmy left around corners to near the end of the crack and ledge jump back to grab the ledge with the disabled blade trap. Pull up, stand against the vertical pole and jump straight up to grab it. Swivel around to face the lower pole and jump to grab or land on it. Climb up if necessary to stand on top, turn to your left to face the next pole and stand jump to land on it. Turn a bit right, jump to grab the monkey bars and monkey swing toward the balcony.

 

Drop with a jump (crouch key) to land on the balcony, jump over the debris and hop to the structure with the spears below and take the LYRE from the plinth. Run off S and go through the doorway to the courtyard with the tree. Continue past it through the opened S gateway and save your game. Hurry along the winding passage as spear traps are triggered on a slightly delayed basis. You can make it through without having to use the sprint key. When you get past the spear tiles, stop and wait as a sword drops from the ceiling.

   

The room ahead is a boulder trap. Hop over the floor hole next to the fallen sword and observe the floor for marked tiles and the ceiling for suspended boulders. As you might guess, the marked tiles when stepped on will release one or more overhead boulders. Turn around, hop back onto the marked tile with skeletal remains and hop forward over the floor hole. Wait for the boulder to roll into the floor hole,  then hop  back  over and trigger the boulders one by one, saving copiously after each successful release and evasion. When all boulders have been triggered, go around the room and collect 2 x shotgun ammo and 4 x uzi ammo before approaching the plinth for a second LYRE.

 

Return to the courtyard (the spears in the connecting passage have been disabled) and approach the statues in the SW and NW alcoves. Place the two Lyres in their laps and watch the ensuing flyby as more spears are lowered. From the NW statute, stand with your back to the wall and jump forward to grab the swingpole. Mount up, jump to grab the higher swingpole, turn around and swing around with sprint. Jump to grab the ledge, pull up and go to the nearby floor hole. Safety drop into the room where the spears lowered and loop around left past the triangular opening for the DESERT EAGLE that comes with additional desert eagle ammo.

 

Jump into the water and swim through the plant-lined passage until you reach a stone support structure with a boulder in from of it. Swim to the right of the boulder and locate the ceiling hole. Surface, pull out into a cave and see the triangular crawl space in the N wall with spears just beyond that will activate when you get close. First, pick up 3 x uzi ammo and 2 x shotgun ammo next to the E skeletal remains, then face the crawl space and time a sprint slide (sprint and hit the walk key at the last instant) to get past the spear field. Go to the mural and face E before picking up the SCOPE and standard arrows. Shoot the charging lion and sprint slide into the previous room.

 

Go through the SW opening, go around and crawl into a small room with a pushable statue. Move it onto the large diamond to lower underwater spears. Return to the previous room, jump into the water hole and continue swimming SW along the passage until you reach the opening where the spears lowered. Go on through, pause to pick up the large healing supply in the passage and come to a gazebo-like structure where you can surface and pull out N to trigger an impressive flyby through the area.

 

Turn right and go W underneath the arch to slide down to a shallow lake. Wade across to the plinth and pick up the DIABOLICAL RHYMES FROM A TORTURED POET for information concerning the drinking habits of animals and clues for obtaining an apple. Go back E the way you came and find a large healing supply on the balcony ahead and to your left. Turn around, loop around past the spear-blocked opening on the other side of the balcony and face the swingpole. Take a curved running jump to grab it, hit the crouch key to jump forward and grab the next swingpole, slide right and mount up. Turn right, jump to activate the N jump switch to lower the spears and look for flares and 3 x uzi ammo next to skeletal remains in the nearby grass.

 

Don't return yet to the balcony where the spears lowered. Instead, go to the octagonal pool, combine the Bow and the Scope, look up N to see a cross perched on the bridge and shoot the top portion to cause it to rotate. A rope lowers, so use it to reach the upper N alcove where you'll find a wall switch that opens two underwater gates in the octagonal pool. Dive into the water and swim past the W gateway and down into a passage where a current will grab you. Stay to the right, as you'll soon come to a side opening with a ceiling switch that lowers the N spears. Swim through the opening, time your way past two spear traps, surface and pull out into a new underground area.

 

Go to the E wall for 3 x uzi ammo and save your game in front of the timed W wall switch. It turns off the flames on the pillars in the larger pool for a few seconds, so reverse roll, run toward the E wall and jump over the railing onto the nearest pillars. Continue with a curved running jump right to grab the higher pillar, pull up, reverse roll and take a running jump to grab the block suspended from the ceiling. Shift left around the corner, ledge jump back to grab the next block, shift left around the corner and line up with the rope dangling behind you. Climb up as far as you can, back flip onto the slope and jump off without sliding to grab the rope. Turn 90 degrees to your left, swing and jump off to land near a plinth with an empty SMALL VASE.

 

Safety drop from the sloped ledge to the floor, jump into the water hole and swim past the spear traps and straight up and then right to return to the octagonal pool. Continue through the E gateway and come to a room with a waterfall. Go to the raised slab in the far left corner where you can fill the Small Vase if you like. Pull up in front of another timed wall switch, pull it down to raise a column in the water, reverse roll, jump into the water and swim around to the NE corner, pull up onto the column and take a running jump to grab the triangular opening. Pull inside and crawl to a small cave. Shoot the vases in the alcove and go inside for the empty LARGE VASE.

 

Return to the waterfall area (duck and jump to get out of the crawl space), swim through the W opening and pull out of the octagonal pool. Go up under the W arch to the balcony where the spears blocking the W opening were lowered some time ago. Go on through and up the winding stairs to an opening that overlooks an area with a couple of caged animals (two gorillas in the E cage and one lion in the W cage). Slide backwards down the slope, pull up and take a rolling back flip to grab the cage roof. Note the scales ahead and look around in vain for a water source. Not to worry. Run across to the other cage, where a friendly camera shifts to point out a nearby jump switch. Hang from the edge and drop to activate it. Enter the alley between the cages to find a plinth with the GOLDEN KEY. When you pick it up you're immediately attacked by two lions and two gorillas. There's also a large healing supply in the alley, and desert eagle ammo next to skeletal remains between the two trees.

 

Go to the NE corner and pull down the wall switch to open the exit gate for later. To get back up onto the cages, stand jump E to grab the swing pole over the wall switch. Turn around, mount up, jump to grab the higher swingpole, mount up, turn right, tightrope walk a few steps and jump up onto the cage roof. Go to the scales, jump over the railing to grab the S opening, pull inside and go down to a shallow pool. Remembering the instructions in the scroll you picked up earlier, fill the Small Vase if you didn't do so earlier, combine it with the Large Vase, refill the Small Vase and combine it once again with the Large Vase. This should leave one unit remaining in the Small Vase. Exit to the scales and empty the Small Vase into the bowl on the left side. If you pour the wrong amount into either bowl, the game will simply crash on you, or at least that's what happened in my case.

 

Now combine the full Large Vase with the Small Vase, leaving two units in the Large Vase. Empty the Small Vase and combine the Large Vase with the Small Vase (transferring two units from one to the other). Fill the Large Vase and combine it with the Small Vase, leaving four units in the Large Vase. Pour these from the Large Vase into the bowl on the right side. Safety drop to the floor and note the winged horse that will remain inactive until bribed with an apple. Exit N and turn left to the octagonal pool. Jump into the water, swim into the N passage and follow to the ceiling hole next to the stone column. Surface, pull out and hop up to the SE corner. Use the wall crack to pull up S and use the Golden Key to open the nearby door. Prepare to engage two gorillas and a lion and search the three strangely lit trees for 2 x small healing supply and flares. Before leaving, crawl into the dark SW corner for desert eagle ammo.

 

Pull down the wall switch on the NW block to raise a column in the small cave ahead and exit through the door you opened with the Golden Key. Jump N across the gap and take a TORCH from the pile in the nearby corner. Light it, return to the previous cave and loop around into the smaller cave. Use the raised column to reach a higher area, face the E sloped block, back flip onto the corner slope and jump twice in succession to land on an upper ledge. Grab the large healing supply in the nearby alcove and jump SE to light a wall sconce and open the gate. Step carefully inside to trigger a pair of squishy blocks, leave the torch behind and make your way to the NE corner. Drop down the floor hole, pick up the desert eagle ammo and go through the S opening to a ledge overlooking the previous cave.

 

Search the two upper trees for uzi ammo and a GOLDEN APPLE, target and shoot two lions and two gorillas lurking below and hop down to exit via the Golden Key door. Drop down, jump into the water hole and swim back to the opened S doorway and ahead to the octagonal pool. Pull out, shoot two waiting gorillas and go past the SW statue into the cage area. Approach Pegasus and wake him up with the Golden Apple. Mount up, turn down the music volume and loop around left past the octagonal pool in one continuous motion. Stay away from walls (not to mention the water) or you'll get stuck in the collision. Run into the wooden fence to shatter it and save your game here to be on the safe side. Ride up the rock ledge and jump the gap down to the garden area below.

 

Dismount (jump + right or left arrow key), shoot two gorillas and search the ledges next to the statues for a small healing supply, 2 x standard arrows and 3 x desert eagle ammo. Jump over to the NW corner, pull up N into the alcove and find a wall switch that lowers a set of spears outside. Turn around, draw the Bow and look up to locate the revealed cross. Shoot the bottom portion to cause the upper portion to rotate, jump back to the central island and go across to the S wall. Stand jump to grab the opening, pull inside and grab the large healing supply from the plinth. Enter the W side passage, stop at the gap overlooking a lava pit and run off the edge to grab a lower swingpole. Turn around, jump off E with the crouch key and pull down the wall switch to open an overhead door.

 

Turn around, and with your back against the wall stand jump to grab the swingpole, mount up, jump forward to grab the higher swingpole, turn around, mount up and jump to the side passage. Use the E wall crack to ledge jump up to grab the sloped edge, pull up and back flip into an upper passage. Follow around to an opening overlooking the Pegasus island and jump W over the obstruction onto a ledge with a wall switch that lowers another nearby set of spears. Face NE, draw the Bow and shoot the lower portion of the exposed cross to trigger a flyby through the area formerly occupied by the two gorillas. Jump back E over the obstruction, follow the passage around to the opening and drop down to the floor.

 

Exit to the Pegasus island, go to the courtyard between the two statues and use the short poles to make your way up the slope with standing jumps. Climb the E wall, back flip to an upper room and jump up to grab the wall crack above the hanging vines. Ledge jump up to activate a jump switch that opens a nearby gate, climb back down and slide to the gorilla courtyard. Face the N wall and jump up to grab the vine-obscured wall crack. Ledge jump up to grab a higher crack, shimmy left and pull up near a passage. Reverse roll and take a running jump to grab the opposite balcony, pull up and go through the passage into the next room to trigger a brief cut scene.

 

Go back a couple of steps, pick up the flares and small healing supply and go around the room to collect 2 x desert eagle ammo, the UZIS, 3 x uzi ammo, the SHOTGUN and 2 x shotgun ammo. Return to the receptacle you were facing at the end of the cut scene, place the Strange Medusa Doll (which remains in your inventory) and prepare to face an immense restructured dragon as you materialize in a floating islands environment. But first, draw a powerful weapon and turn around to your left to shoot a firebolt-tossing centaur on the small E island. Take a running jump SE onto the steps of an adjacent island where you'll be safe from Medusa. Hop down E for a large healing supply, pull back up and find another large healing supply near the tree. Go to the Trojan horse replica and pull it away from the SWORD (first cousin to the crowbar). Go around the gazebo to find a crowbar switch. Use the Sword on it and three harpies fly toward you as a remote camera highlights two giant scorpions on the next island S. You can target and kill them from here with your Bow and just a few arrows.

 

Note for later the rope dangling between the two islands, go to the W end of this island and look down to see a floating block. Line up and run off the edge to land on it. Turn around and take a running jump onto the block under the island and stoop to pick up the HAPPY/SAD MASKS. Hop back to grab the edge, shimmy around two corners to the other side, release onto the slope and back flip onto a facing slope. Slide and jump with a right curve to land on a stable block. Face NE, back flip onto the higher slope behind you and jump to grab a ladder on the side of the island. Climb up to the gazebo, turn around and take a running jump to grab the rope you noted earlier.

 

Swing forward and jump off onto the next island S. Step up to the block and place the Happy/Sad Masks in the vacant receptacle to attract three more harpies. Climb onto the block for a large healing supply, jump to the next block E and save your game before taking a running jump to grab the sloped block ahead. Pull up, slide down the other side and jump at the last instant to grab the vine ladder on the next sloped block. Climb up a bit, shift right around the corner, climb to the top, save as you're pulling up and slide down the other side with a pixel-perfect last second jump to grab the vine ladder on the island ahead as a centaur opens fire from down below.

 

Pull up quickly, go right to the SE corner and shoot the centaur. Go around the perimeter to attract a harpy, grab the large healing supply on the W side and safety drop from the inside edge to the island below (with some health loss). Take a running jump S to grab the alcove where the centaur was posted, pull up and place the Strange Medusa Doll to be whisked away from this area.

 

Search the immediate vicinity for a large healing supply, desert eagle ammo, standard arrows, Thunderbolt super ammo and Thunderbolt normal ammo. Exit to a hallway, grab 2 x large healing supply and drop down E for another large healing supply and Thunderbolt normal ammo. Drop down further E into a courtyard and roam the area for a large healing supply, Thunderbolt super ammo and 2 x Thunderbolt flash ammo. Approach the central plinth for ZEUS' THUNDERBOLT. When you pick it up the N gate opens, so go on through and drop down to the octagonal pool area to engage three centaurs.

 

Look for a wall switch on the bridge support column and pull it down to release two lions. In the alcove N of the wall switch you'll find 3 x desert eagle ammo and a large healing supply. Go through the S archway and hop up E into a passage over a wall switch that serves no useful purpose. To get across the gap, take a running jump and grab the first swingpole, swing around and jump off to grab the next swingpole, swing around and jump off to the E side. Turn right at the wall, hop down to Pegasus island, run around to target two centaurs that have taken refuge behind a statue and enter the E courtyard. Use the cracks in the N wall to ledge jump back up to that higher opening you noted earlier, but this time go on through and stay right to arrive at the W wall.

 

Jump up to grab the crack, ledge jump up to grab the opening and pull up to a passage that leads to a hammergod minotaur. A few rounds from the desert eagle will bring him down. When he dies, the central column lowers to expose the SPHERE OF HELIOS. The NE gate opens when you take it from the plinth, so go on through and turn left at the wall. Use the wall crack to ledge jump up to a higher opening and loop around to find a wall switch that opens a floor trap door leading to an area you've previously explored. Drop to the lower passage, turn right into the E side passage and come to the opened trap door. Grab the large healing supply, safety drop from the floor hole with some health loss and safety drop again from the S ledge to the lower courtyard.

 

Go through the E passage and keep to one side as multiple swords drop from the ceiling. When you reach the underground lake a flyby is triggered. Jump into the water, swim N through the passage with the colorful plants until you reach the mural you saw in the flyby. Place the Sphere of Helios in the receptacle held by Poseidon. The door to your left opens, so swim to the next room and take POSEIDON'S TRIDENT from the raised slab. Pull the N underwater lever to open an overhead trap door as Lara is carried up to the village area to end her adventure. Enjoy the concluding flyby.
