DAVID'S CROWN

After the opening FMV, which harkens back to a previous level, swim forward and pull out of the frigid water to face two openings, one of which is closed. Note that you have no weapons. Head S and hear the sound of a hovering helicopter, go past the passage to your right (closed gate at the end) and continue to a bloody corpse. Take the single flare from the outstretched hand, proceed a little further and open the E door to a cozy bedroom. Grab another flare from the table and open the S door to the bathroom. The builder's penchant for potty humor is not on display here, and there's nothing to find or do, so exit to the hallway. A monk whistles for your attention and beckons for you to approach, but he explodes dramatically before you can make a move.

 

A furtive figure runs back and forth along the balcony above you, so run to the monk's body and pick up a key called ACCESS TO BACKYARD before the baddy has a chance to draw his weapon and start lobbing grenades at you. Continue forward and turn left into the E passage to find that the gate has lifted. Turn right into the side passage, run past the baddy posted above and open the door at the end. Grab another flare in the next room and turn left to open the E door to another bathroom. However, this time you get a burst of warning music as Lara's attention is directed to her right.

 

The entire N wall is a pushblock, so push it once to reveal an outdoor passage as rain gently drenches your hair. Turn left past the dead monk into the S opening, turn right into the hallway with the bloody corpse, turn left into the S passage and place the Access to Backyard to lift the gate to your left. Enter the outdoor area and look left for 2 x medicinal mushrooms (red with white dots). Climb S onto the statue base and reach up for the CROWBAR as you hear the sound of a neighing horse. Open the SW crowbar door and enter the stables.

 

Search the area for 2 x medicinal mushrooms and a remote camera shows a car with blinking headlights on the other side of the gate. Enter the W passage, open the door to a bedroom similar to the ones you've already visited, take the flare and the SECRET SECTOR from the table and open the S door to another empty bathroom if you like. Exit E to the stables and N to the backyard area. Continue N and E and N to a statue similar to the one where you got the crowbar, pull up onto the statue base and pull up higher into the N crawl space. Flip out at the other end into an outdoor courtyard and find the SW opening in the central cage.

 

Go under the warning sign and drop into the shallow water. Wade forward and Lara will look to her left. Go over to the floating doubled-over corpse for a first aid kit, then swim over to the nearby skeletal remains for a key called the DRAIN ACTIVATION ACCESS, but don't venture further N toward the raised slab lest you attract a school of piranha. Return to the opening, get as close as you can to the obstruction on its right side and pull out of the water. Go a bit left, then right past the W opening and enter a room with barrels and two pushblocks. Push the nearer pushblock away from a flare and turn right to pull the adjacent pushblock and expose the receptacle for your key.

 

Open the W door and step into the alcove to pull a chain. Watch the flyby, which ends with the release of a couple of attack dogs, and return quickly to the previous pool to find that it has been drained. You no longer have to worry about deadly fish, so hop down into the dry pool (the dogs won't follow) and run across to the raised slab you avoided earlier. Press the Star of David button to lift a gate elsewhere and go around to your left to find an opening in the fence. Hop down to lower area, loop around right and pry a piece of DAVID'S STAR off the alcove wall with your crowbar.

 

Climb back out to the dry pool, go across to the other end and pull out as you did earlier. Run straight forward and hop over the short fence into a pool of water. Find the S tunnel and swim to the adjacent pool. Turn left and pull the hard-to-see underwater lever in the W wall to open the ceiling trap door. Surface, pull out, go up the steps past the blade-trapped poles and pry another piece of DAVID'S STAR off the wall. Go back down the steps, stop at the edge of the water hole and jump straight up to activate a jump switch that lifts the gate ahead for later use.

 

Jump into the water and swim back N to the connecting pool. Surface, pull out E and run past the dogs to the short building ahead. Quickly pull up onto the roof and walk to the far edge. Take a running jump to grab the opening in the E wall, pull into the crawl space and flip out the other end into the room below. Run forward past the E opening into the outdoor area while being fired upon by a baddy posted above you. Pick up the medicinal mushroom next to the closed gate (if you dare) and exit S into the hallway past the opened wooden doors. Turn left and approach the W statue for some healing incense

 

Turn around and run across the hallway into the E passage and turn left about halfway down. Pull up into the crawl space, flip out past the broken glass window and turn right into a connecting passage. Turn left and follow around the corner to a gated alcove on your right. Press your nose against the gate for a brief flyby and continue E along the passage until you reach a receptacle for the Secret Sector. The gate to your right lifts and ominous music starts playing. Run into the next area, note the stairs to your right but open the N crowbar door across the room.

 

Continue into the next room, step into the W alcove to startle a school of fish in the water beyond the fence, then face N and open the floor trap door. Drop into the water, swim past the ravenous fish down to the bottom, pick up a key called the ACCESS TO TERRACE next to the skeleton and quickly return to pull out of the water. Exit to that stairwell you passed by earlier, go up W and use the latest key to lift the gate to the terrace. Enter the terrace, go to the N alcove and turn the wheel to trigger a flyby that causes Lara some consternation.

 

Go back downstairs, turn right through the connecting passage and drop down past the opened floor trap door once more. The fish are busily feeding on a drowned elephant, so swim past them and N until you can surface and pull out into a small room. Combine the two pieces of David's Star and place the completed DAVID'S STAR in the receptacle to open the nearby door. A cut scene shows your next objective. Go up the carpeted steps to a Holy Room and take DAVID'S CROWN from the plinth.

 

As you turn to leave, Lara looks to her right at an apparent threat. Get down on your knees and crawl S to avoid getting squashed by a hammer that springs from the wall. Continue downstairs and trigger at the doorway a cut scene of the stables you visited earlier. Jump into the water ahead, swim past the still-occupied fish and surface at the opened trap door. Pull out and exit S to the connecting hallway. Turn left and run W all the way to the wall lamp. Turn left, then right, then left again and go toward the broken window to trigger a cut scene of someone waiting outside who has a definitely unfriendly appearance.

 

Pull up into the window opening, crawl through and flip out the other end. Turn right, enter the hallway and run forward for some healing incense if you need it. Go back and through the wooden double doors N into the backyard area. Those two dogs you alerted earlier are still in the area, so hop up onto the higher veranda with the statue and turn right past the W opening into the room with the two enclosed pools. Veer to your right and jump into the pool that hasn't been drained. Swim through the S tunnel, surface at the ceiling hole in the next room and pull out E. Go up the steps you ignored earlier and when you get to the broken fence pieces near a closed door, turn left and pull up onto a ledge.

 

Approach the E alcove with a Star of David attached to the wall and get a fixed camera. Pull the wheel about a half dozen times to lift the door below, back flip over the fence and run past the slowly descending door as lightning flashes in the room ahead. You've been here before, so turn left and run into the S opening beneath the wall lamp, turn right into the room with the bloody corpse and left into the S passage, come to the outdoor courtyard and continue diagonally left past the S doorway into the stables. A car crashes through the gate and stops, so go there and open the door to end the level.
