Reviewer's comments
"The unique thing about this level was definitely the constant pink lighting, luckily it wasn’t too overwhelming but certainly an interesting choice none the less as it transcends into the indoor areas as well. With large outside open canyon/rock like areas to navigate as well as dark caves the activities and tasks include platforming/climbing, exploring for items or switches etc, pushable objects and shooting hidden bells. With only a small amount of traps including boulders, fire pits and spike walls, the enemies take on most of the responsibility of trying to keep Lara at bay with warthogs, bats, scorpions, skeletons , tigers and even crocodiles to contend with. My other notes about this level was the enjoyment of working out how to scale the giant pyramid at the end and the annoyance of a swim through texture I never would of found without a walkthrough but overall I have to say this a solid little adventure here." - John (25-Apr-2025)
"A rather simple and average level. To be honest, I found it too simple. It's visually too simple, the gameplay is too linear. There's nothing in it that deserves getting called bad, I didn't spot any bugs and mistakes. I just found it a bit boring." - tuxraider (06-Apr-2024)
"This level doesn't really feel like it's a remake or based off a different level. It feels like a standalone, and it stands solid as a standalone. The gameplay is nice and there are some neat puzzles, I found the overall graphical presentation quite pleasing to the eye, and all in all it's something I can suggest for anyone to play." - OblivionJaw (01-Apr-2024)
"This is a relatively new builder on the scene, and I believe this is the first level of his that I've played. It's Egyptian raiding in the Grand Olde Style, and up until the end it offers rather easy, pedestrian progression from one task to the other. The only thing that might cause players to stumble are the bells that are positioned beyond tiny gaps with no real indication that they're there and need to be rung with a crossbow arrow. For this reason I found the sole video walk posted to date to be essential. Just before the end of this short (an hour in my case, as I was writing a walk while playing) you're hit with two hazards in a row: a boulder run and a spike wall in cramped quarters. Those are the most difficult parts of the level, but can be managed with a little effort. Not an award winner by any means, but certainly fun to play." - Phil (19-Mar-2024)
"No real connection to the level of the same name released way back in 2001 (apart from some slight cosmetic familiarity), but is rather a decent level in its own right. The textures and lighting are a bit bland in places, but the gameplay is entertaining enough. The duration is quite brief, but there's a couple of nice trigger tile puzzles and traps to keep things fun, while enemies don't pose too much of a threat. The tigers (rather amusingly) seemed to have a bark worse than their bite, too. Fun stuff overall." - Ryan (18-Mar-2024)
"Probably the most salmon-colored level I've played, or the most since a long time. I wish it had other colors and more lively light. I don't understand Khmer in Kazakhstan, some tuning of the asset would be good. The game starts slow and a bit unspecified, then proceeds to be a proper level with exploration and puzzles. You can try it, just don't expect fireworks." - DJ Full (17-Mar-2024)
"Level that clocks in one hour, mostly a relaxing discovery with the Coastal ruins atmosphere. There is still some action with traps and some acrobatics, also some subtle moments in a few places to spot something different. Texturing includes a few custom textures , lighting is sometimes forgotten in the inside rooms , good objects , wrong sfx for the panthers. Enjoyable." - eRIC (02-Mar-2024)
"Disliked
  • The locks for the keys can be difficult to spot or remember, as they are placed in seemingly random walls.
Neutral
  • Thinking this level felt familiar, I realized I played the original release just last year, and this one is much more of a functional release, although some things still feel a bit disjointed, mainly the clash of items and sounds from different settings.
  • While the texturing is fine (aside from some stretched ones) and the lighting is pretty good, the rooms feel pretty blocky especially in the outdoor areas.
Liked
  • There are quite a few flames and boulders to dodge in these perilous ruins.
  • Plenty of shotgun ammo is provided to shoot down the skeletons rising out of the ground.
  • There are some nice little puzzles which shouldn't be too difficult to solve, although one of them is while a wall of spikes slides toward Lara!
Time: 1 hour 1 minute | Difficulty: Hard | Rating: 7.25/10" - JesseG (26-Feb-2024)
"There's something about classic feeling levels that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Transporting me back to 1999. And when it's done well, I can't stop playing. This is one of those levels. It's not a perfect level, some textures are odd and not spaced sometimes, but when it matters they are right for the correct rooms I never played the original level the creator has remade here, but I hope they'd be proud to know their level inspired another person to make a very good level. Notes for the author, take care with some important texture work, waterfall textures don't need to be under the water for example. Your lighting is really good, atmospheric. The puzzles were nice and engaging. Make sure to place keyholes in more logical positions, the first keyhole was in an odd location to me anyway. But all in all, would recommend, very classic feeling :)" - JimmyBeon (24-Feb-2024)
