Reviewer's comments
"This is a semi-remake of St Francis' Folly, with a large tower and god rooms around the side. It's larger scale and with more detail than the original, and the general visual design is decent. The weakest point is the lighting, which is fine in the god areas, but quite flat in the main tower area, especially in the upper sections. This is very much a demo as the name suggests; it's just two of the four god rooms and the main tower area, without the starting areas. There are some weirdly modern elements like a fuse and windows, but maybe that will be justified more in the final release? What's here is enjoyable though, with the slightly more elaborate tower area, and the two god rooms both having a lot more to them; the Neptune room being a bigger exploration area, and Thor doing some interesting things with both the hammer itself and the lightning conductors. It's short and mostly easy but it seems like the final result will be an enjoyable level, and perhaps even a great one with the right extensions and a few improvements to what's here." - Mman (14-Oct-2024)
"I really enjoyed this level with a TR1 taste (St. Francis Folly) even when there is some backtracking up and down the tower. The tasks are entertaining and not too hard; perhaps the enemies are not well balanced, but never a problem for the gameplay; the secrets are well hidden. I missed some more musics and cameras, but the lighting and texturization are well worked. Definitely a level nice to play, looking forward for the final release. Good work." - Jose (05-Jun-2024)
"A brief but not unenjoyable foray into a St. Francis Folly setting. Being a demo, the gameplay is somewhat curtailed (indeed you only get to play two of the four "god rooms") and the duration is short, but it's quite nicely constructed in the TR1 style and there is a decent challenge to it although nothing too tricky. The Neptune area was the highlight settings-wise, while the Thor room was the highlight in terms of gameplay. Some of the textures were a bit on the bland side and everything seemed rather monotone where lighting was concerned, but these will hopefully be improved for a future full version. Not bad for a first effort." - Ryan (18-May-2024)
"WARNING: Play Thor before Neptune or RIP. This is being fixed so I'm rating as if it was. Good Folly remake, you could use it in place of original one and it would work. It's all the way balanced, also the only usage of Thor's lightning which didn't send me to Valhalla too often. Lighting in the main room could get more contrast. One secretr a bit misleading but you'll get it. Recommended." - DJ Full (03-May-2024)
"As for a debut level it's really a decent one. Obviously there are some beginner mistakes like incorrect/missing textures. But overall, this short adventure is enjoyable. The whole level is inspired by St. Francis' Folly. The main room, the side rooms - everything resembles the original game but obviously the approach is different. We only get to explore the Thor and the Neptune's rooms which are much more extended than its original counterparts. The Thor's room - especially the room with lightning balls is quite hard to do without medipacks which we don't have many. But I believe it is possible to do it without them, it's just pretty hard. Design, again, as for a debut level is decent. Some rooms look quite pretty actually. The architecture is good, not boxy. The textures are diversly and mostly properly applied except for a few incorrect textures. The lighting is probably the weakest - in most areas it's flat. There should be more shadow put here and there. Another minor complaint I have is the appearance of modern fuse and windows in this ancient setting. It just doesn't really fit in there. I suggest replacing the fuse and the windows with something else. Instead of the windows I would just put grates. All in all, this is a solid debut level and I can already see a lot of potential in this builder. Wishing good luck to the author making the full version. Recommended." - BlackWolfTR (03-May-2024)
