Reviewer's comments |
"A nicely designed TR 1 level with good atmosphere and lighting. The texturing was decent mostly with a few cracks here and there, and I liked the fixed cams and the views into other rooms. On the whole, I expected a bit more from the reviews since the gameplay was rather run-of-the-mill, except a few easy boulder traps and the fire tile run there were a lot of levers to be used and few real puzzles to solve. The enemies were nicely used and the two secrets decently hidden, all in all a pleasant yet not very memorable 25 minute level." - manarch2 (29-Aug-2025) |

"I played this level yesterday and i liked what i saw. rather simple but very effective. a
good usage of enemies and trap, simple gameplay but it also works very well some nice parkour
and the lighting is ok for a TR1 set but i think some ares was too dark and since we don't
have flares on TR1 author need take care with that too,i didn't find the secrets too,i think
i was too fast lol. althrough was a simple nice TR1 egypt feelings. highly recommended...45
minutes." - PedroCroft_ (16-Aug-2025) |

"Inevitably, TR1 levels do appear somewhat
clunky and dated by today's standards and
sometimes the nostalgia factor isn't enough
to offset that. What a pleasure then to
experience a thoroughly decent and enjoyable
one. The classic Egypt setting is very
nicely created, music is effectively used
(sometimes even to add tension to enemy
encounters) and the gameplay is fun from
start to finish. There's nothing too
difficult to overcome (although the numerous
spike pits were a bit on the "gotcha" side),
but the boulder traps were rather
imaginative in places and the platforming
was nicely done. The ending boss battle was
tense too, particularly the centaurs, but by
then you should have amassed plenty of
shotgun ammo for it not to be too much of a
problem. I liked it." - Ryan (28-Jun-2025) |

"Lots of things done very good here, and also nothing overdone. Good balance of exploration, platforming, combat and not so hard puzzles which don't slow down the pace too much, plus there's a learning curve - all of this allows various gameplay scenarios which make this level as good for casual players as for hardcore speedrunners and no med challengers. Highly recommended." - DJ Full (25-Jun-2025) |
