Reviewer's comments
"A very solid action-focused level, with some enemies really well-placed to make you sweat to take them down (for example, those damn enemies carrying flamethrowers). The second phase is of much higher quality, featuring a great variety of challenges like traps, timed sections, and puzzles. The texturing is very good. Recommended." - requiemsoul (13-Dec-2025)
"Here is another strong TR2 effort, and one that's action-packed from the word go. Actually, the gameplay progression isn't all that difficult, it's generally quite linear with you constantly moving forward and (quite considerately) having to complete one important task I one area before you progress to the next. What spices things up are the numerous enemy attacks. There may have been an overuse of armed guards around every corner, but sometimes you can take them down without losing too much health (from a safe space) and supplies/weaponry are plentiful even for the more powerful enemies. The springboard sequences were brilliantly executed (always a favourite of mine), as were the timed runs, while the atmosphere is effective and audio used very well indeed. Lighting could have been a bit brighter in a few of the indoor corridors, however. Enjoyable overall." - Ryan (07-Dec-2025)
"The game controls are smooth, and the puzzles and enemies are reasonably designed without being too difficult. For me, the hardest part was a time-limited switch that required passing through a springboard—however, this section was quite tricky to control and took multiple attempts to complete. The textures are consistent with the standard quality of tr2, though the lighting feels a bit dim in some areas." - cheng (06-Dec-2025)
"SPOILER ALERT! My reviews tend to be very detailed in what I saw and enjoyed so if you think this will spoil it for you stop reading now! Playing version dated Sept. 25 2025. What I liked about the level: 1) The design of the areas is clever making gameplay interesting and fun to navigate despite the environment being rather plain in appearance. 2) The strategic placing of small light fixtures not only helps the lighting atmosphere but provides clues on where to go next. 3) A sense of humour is not lost when you see how many boulders you have to avoid to proceed. 4) An equally humorous moment when climbing a ramp and turning only to be blasted “point blank” in the face with a flamethrower (laughed my guts out here). 5) I like when the builder designs the level preventing the player from proceeding until obtaining important items and is what I consider good level design. 6) Springboards! Just when you thought it couldn’t get more fun, we get to play with springboards. And they’re not obvious either, so the surprise makes it way better. 7) I like mazes but not underwater ones. Yet here we have them with many air pockets allowing the player to take time and explore. 8) Placing pickups and enemies to help the player navigate where to go is what I consider good build design. 9) Thank you to the builder for triggering the flying samurai one by one instead of en masse and giving ample room to take them out. What I didn’t like or thought could be improved: 1) Normally I’m not fond of TR2 levels because of the large pixelized textures and limited moves but because this is supposed to be TR2 like, it accomplishes it’s goal. Still, this would be my only suggestion or wishlist item. 2) The “banana jump” for the M16 is very tricky. 3) Ideally timed runs should show an onscreen timer but assuming this is not yet possible in TR2, making the lights stop flickering is a considerate work around. Conclusion: This was such a fun level. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. I forgot it was a TR2 level “graphics-wise” and just played and enjoyed all the various tasks. And although I’m not fond of “shooter” type levels, the builder somehow made the number of enemies and placement “reasonable” giving ample space and hiding places so the player could choose how they would like to tackle them. Suitable for average TR players." - Lizard Queen (28-Nov-2025)
"a masterpiece with so many tr2 vibes, awesome leveldesign and atmosphere. a must play" - Raider278 (02-Nov-2025)
"Twice more enjoyable with medikits. I accept justifiable texturing imperfections (like bricks bent under pressure, time and pressure of time) but here are too many inexcusable ones hence 9/10 for the looks as the rest is entirely fresh yet well mixed asset in the rough TR2 wrap - you get a bit of everything here albeit a bit too slowly changing, plus some passages send you forwards backwards and forwards, and it's not obvious the intro cave is optional so it may end up feeling like a filler. However if you take time there's a chance you'll inhale those bits, and the entire game, without questioning it. It's also reassuring to see this author did well in multiple engines and seems to get better and better. Not the last word I presume, so if you like getting hyped for custom levels it might be a good choice to put some of this hype here." - DJ Full (13-Oct-2025)
