| Reviewer's comments |
"This Atlantis offering comes from a prolific builder who has been offering us solid and fun raids for a while now, and this is no exception. It comes with the TR1 jank we all love, even though it's bundled with TR1X, so it's a little rougher to navigate after playing more modern engine levels but still it comes back naturally and quickly so it's not a big deal. The inspiration behind most of the areas is obvious but still it's a nicely put together level and it's not only in the last room that the level lives up to its name, but the author is quite generous so you don't need to worry. Good fun from start to finish, and hardly any padding so there's no pointless backtracking to make it last longer than it should. 30 minutes, 1 secret. 01/26" - Treeble (18-Jan-2026) |

"This was a fun little adventure for anyone who's a fan of TR1 Atlantis. It does have more emphasis on platforming than the original levels, but the enemies you do encounter offer a nice challenge and change of pace to keep you interested. The Atlantis wad/soundtrack is used here to great effect, and some rooms look like they were ripped right out of TR1. There were times I felt like the author could have branched out a little more into their own style. The centerpiece of the level is a room very similar to the giant cat room from Unfinished Business, and a few smaller rooms definitely were inspired by classic rooms and traps it would seem. The author seems to have a good sense of the classic Tomb Raider aesthetics when it comes to level design and pacing, even if at times it can feel a bit derivative. Overall I was able to find 2/3 of the secrets and complete the level in about 45 minutes. "Atlantean Nightmare" is a good choice for anyone who wants a quick hit of nostalgia, but may not want the difficulty spike offered in the original or Unfinished Business level sets." - ScionSanctuary (18-Jan-2026) |

"A nice little slice of classic TR1 Atlantis raiding. This builder can always be relied upon
yo provide an enjoyable gaming time without frustration or any fancy frills. It may have
taken less than an hour, but it definitely has a high entertainment factor. There's nothing
too complicated, but the boulder traps keep you on your toes and the Atlantean mutants
always prove somewhat formidable foes and this level is no exception. There did seem to be
noticeably less this time around, but there's supplies aplenty nonetheless to withstand the
onslaught. I did miss two secrets during my first play-through, but went back later and was
able to locate them with a little additional searching. The surroundings are constructed
well and the classic TR1 music files serve the atmosphere well. I also thought that the
homages to other Unfinished Business levels were integrated very nicely. Definitely
recommended." - Ryan (12-Jan-2026) |

"Who knew purple skies and Atlantean architecture worked so well! A jaunt through some of the
highlights of Unfinished Business in miniature, this is an enjoyable adventure that is
easily playable in about half an hour. The builder clearly understands the "principles of
Atlantis design" with lots of windows foreshadowing future events, tight corners for the
creepy flesh monsters to spring from, and some suitably grandiose spaces that echo Temple of
the Cat with new texture design. I'd eagerly return to this version of Atlantis, especially
the new stone and sky colors, but perhaps with some additional unique puzzles or gameplay to
evoke more surprise. Fun battles and platforming, and a reminder of what makes TR1
enduringly fun. 2/3 secrets, 33 minutes." - Cbl (10-Jan-2026) |

"Could be a tutorial before you dump players into Unfinished Business because it's much less aggressive while keeping the mood. It's also quicker with reduced filler, and with a twist you didn't quite see coming. It also makes a starter for custom level players willing to get into Atlantis, because almost everything else we got on this topic wants to murder you all the time. Therefore I find this level much needed." - DJ Full (08-Jan-2026) |

"A thoroughly delightful journey. The puzzles were simple yet entertaining, and both the
graphics and music in the game were absolutely perfect.
The enemies were quite formidable, but ammo supplies were more than adequate.
When a large cache of ammo and med-packs suddenly appeared near the end, I had a hunch there
was more to the earlier part than met the eye—and sure enough, that turned out to be the
case." - cheng (08-Jan-2026) |
